There were quite a few pre BCS days. 90' was Colorado / Georgia Tech, 91' was Washington / Miami, and like the other person mentioned 97' was Michigan / Nebraska
this season is why the AP poll said they would award an undefeated Big 10 or Pac 10 champion their national championship. since they were barred from the Bowl Coalition/Bowl Alliance. we saw it in the 1997 season (Michigan) and we would’ve seen it in 1996 if Arizona State won the Rose Bowl.
Thomas Donaghy: Penn State definitely got robbed because they should have shared the NC under the dumb circumstances. We all got robbed of a great game. I would lean more to Nebraska winning because great defense always wins out over great offense. I'm a Sooners fan so I've been there done that with the feeling no one can stop our offense, but if you've followed college football you know how that's turned out for OU. Penn State's offense wasn't invincible. Several teams with lesser defenses than Nebraska slowed them down. Nebraska would have given up somewhat more than they did against Miami who was more one-dimensional, but they would have scored more as Penn State's defense wasn't that good. The big question is how good would Penn State's defense had played. From what I see in the season, Penn State looks like their defense was really good early in the season and struggled more down the stretch. Did they have a lot of injuries? They played good in this game. So it's really a toss-up who would win this. It's too bad we'll never get to see it.
@@kayp4601 Stop writing crap. Nebraska won the national championship because in the Orange Bowl they defeated the mighty Miami Hurricanes, who were the No. 3 team in the nation. Penn St was playing the Rose Bowl with a humble University of Oregon that in 1994 WAS ABSOLUTELY NOBODY in college football. Tom Osborne is one of the best coaches in the history of American football.
Due to the Big Ten's contractual tie-in with the Rose Bowl, Penn State had to go to this game despite being the No. 2 team in the polls. The Rose Bowl Game was not part of the Bowl Coalition between 1992 and 1994, nor was it part of the Bowl Alliance which followed it between 1995 and 1997. This prevented Penn State from playing Nebraska in the Orange Bowl the previous night.
Keith Jackson and John Saunders R.I.P
This is great. I can’t wait to host a re-watch party and feature this video! Old commercials are a plus.
Party like its 1995!
I agree, I love it when they leave the commercials in

Field condition was NOT "perfect" Mr. Jackson. Slipping and sliding all game.
Held up without a gun.....what a shame!!!!
The 94 Penn State team was robbed.
The Big-10 conference was not in the Bowl Alliance.
@@theicchamp06 yeah I know but the voters could have voted for the best team and not feel sorry for old Tom Osborn
