Mr. Edblad. The ‘missing’ piece of my puzzle. Throw the club! For power. inside to out path, no lag, release properly, and push up using the ground with belt buckle to the target with a high follow through relaxed lead arm. I trust it feels pretty bloody good to be the f@cken best instructor on this planet! And, English is your second language! Incredible work… No ‘um’s, ah’s, repeating yourself, begging for subscribers, click ‘like’, comment below, straight to the point, …a f@cking legend! Sir, you’ve helped guide me through the 30+ year challenges/journey of understanding my golf swing more than you’ll EVER know. But, I’ll send a super thanks from home next month… I now have the complete puzzle pieces - thanks to you. I’ll practice more and put it all together. You’re helping so many people, mate. Thank you, my friend. And, congratulations. Jacko 🇦🇺
Profound and simple instruction..BRILLIANT..amazing to think that most of us play golf for years without understanding this concept..I am going straight to the range to practice this today..thank you Marcus
I can throw very good since H.S. baseball. I played hockey and have a good slap shot as well. My golf sucked for 30 years and just watching a few of your videos I'm understanding and properly applying my sporting techniques to my swing and my golf has dramatically improved. Thank you so much!
I’ve been taught straight arm back straight arm through . Your technique is bend elbows and turn straight arm before impact and release fully . The confusion is the arc we are inside. Your throwing example makes perfect sense and stupid it may be to you , we have been fooled by instructors . Top man 👊
Hi Paul. There are so many things that is not a must but most instructors say they are. Try for your self and find what you need not what others need. I loose 10-15% speed instantly if I try to hit with a straight arm. Good luck. 👍
Hi Marcus Came across your videos a few days ago. Your content and the way you present are awesome. You have similar principles to another former long drive champion now instructor I have followed the last 6-7 years. Anyway keep up the amazing work. Thank you
Another great lesson Marcus! If someone was rolling balls at us and we had little time to react or had to step around to take a swing, we’d naturally hit with that throwing motion because we don’t have time to think about it. The other day I was hitting balls by starting with the club standing up in the “circle of speed” ready position (vertical) with my feet together and stepping into the shot. Obviously slowly, but it’s a great feel.
In the throwing motion is it critical where you throw the club head, so does it matter if the wrist release is at the ball, or at the target...? If you were to straighten the trail arm, and the emphasis would be to release the club to the ball, or seemingly later at the target, so if you released the club in both scenarios; one would have the club fly into the ground, and the other skyward to the target. So, the timing of the swing would be different; depending on the release...thanks Marcus for making these things fly straight...nice...!!
You are describing the most important timing in the swing. Mostly the feeling is not the same as the real motion. Keep working on it and you will have total control of the ball. 👍
Great results with irons using your system, Marcus, thanks! But with driver it’s either a slice/fade or dead pull left (I’m right handed). Thoughts? Thanks for your great teaching!
My friend, too much body rotation and pull of the lead arm. We need a deeper and better downswing before it's too late. Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/jAf8dLPvVDw/v-deo.htmlsi=gy0aXYNVZ2AR7CDT
Great explanation. I was wondering though that since you are throwing the ball at the ball on the ground while using an iron, do you throw the ball to a different location for the driver swing?
I would say that the throw with a driver would be straight down to a point behind my trail foot. Like the practice swing in this video:ua-cam.com/video/6B-fGgcNzuU/v-deo.htmlsi=Ru0Z5g2j7PdjGnCA
This very much reflects the approach advocated by legendary instructor Mike Malaska. I’m 63 and play off 9-11 depending on the time of year, and I hit plenty of good shots, but tended to throw in 2 or 3 poor holes per round that damaged my scoring. The more natural body movements that you and Mike suggest have improved how solidly I strike the ball, and more importantly possibly, my consistency has improved markedly, ie the number of poor shots I hit has dropped, while the quality/results of those poor shots has improved.
I find that if I think about the finish position of the swing, and not the hit, my arm and hand naturally want to follow the correct sequence and the ball simply gets in the way.
the swinging of the arms is easy from the top...it's the timing on the wrist/hand that is difficult...too early and you hit it thin...too late and you hit it fat. I tried this at the range and took divots like I was trying to reach China. I was awesome with the driver, but my irons were too steep. I felt sorry for the grass. 😨
It sounds like you are using driver timing to hit your iron. An to early release will make you hit fat with your irons. Late will make you hit it thin...

Great lesson, really easy to understand! Hopefully I can also put it into practice and into my swing.
Go for it! Everyone can do it but not many give it a good chance. 👍
