I'm left hand golfer but right hand dominant like you. I used to pull the club handle through the swing which gave me the weak slice. Your instructions are so clear and intelligent I'm speechless! Keep up the good work and wish you and the family a Happy New Year! God fortsättning!
why isnt your channel bigger...You have to be the best teacher on youtube. I just dicovered this channel a few weeks ago and already fix my driver issues. keep up the great videos, i'll watch them all...eventually
Thanks Marcus! You explain the swing as well or better than just about anyone I have seen in my 40+ years of trying to play this game. I am one of those guys that has been obsessed with positions in the swing, and have been missing the point....Impact is what matters. Can't wait to get to the range and try out various release points with the driver. I now know I have been holding onto "lag" far too long after seeing this video, robbing myself of distance. BTW, I was sent here after seeing you profiled on Golf Test Dummy's channel., so props to him.
Marcus, I am a 76 year old left hander playing right handed clubs. I found out I could hit my irons good if I loosened up on my left hand grip pressure without loosing control of the club face and really using my right hand to make the swing. Any comments on this will be great and might help other left handlers make that swing. Driver is doing good too. The Golf Dummy got me watching your swings two weeks ago. You make a lot of since explaining the swings. Thanks!!
Hi Richard. Tiger, Hogan, Snead, Spieth and our Stenson are all left handed playing right handed golf. I think you can use your left to control the club face and use your less intelligent right hand to push for power. I'm right handed playing left so it's the same for me.
@@tankus41 They write with the right hand because they had to in school but they are all naturally left handed. Only in Sweden you will be allowed to write with left hand.
Great instructions I’m right handed left hand golfer from my younger days of playing Irish game of hurling, my grandad gave me a couple of tips in the 70s and are very close to your way of teaching, the modern way have far too much technical data for golf to be enjoyable
Hello my friend Marcus. Just catching up on your older videos here in the UK. It got my mind to wonder how you are doing with your treatment..? I do hope that it is going well and you are not in too much discomfort from the various procedures. You have a great number of enthusiastic followers, who are all thinking about you and wishing you a speedy recovery. Take good care of yourself, and take comfort in knowing we are out here awaiting your return.
Hello friend. thanks for asking. Everyday is a struggle but my doctors are positive that it will turn to the better soon. Hopefully I can do a positive update soon. 👍
Great videos, explaining what’s supposed to be happening in the golf swing really well, I see now I’ve been trying to hit the ball the wrong way for years. 👍
Great advice Marcus, cannot wait for lockdown to end so I can concentrate on practising importance of the release to create a draw and not my usual over- rotation of the body to try and produce club head speed😭
@marcusedbladgolf As one of your newest students 🙏. What advice do you have for the shanks I have started getting. I can’t understand why with my irons.
Hi and welcome. The shank is mostly a misunderstanding and it needs some treatment. Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/5nKVHg_GGXc/v-deo.htmlsi=9awaNsLNc9HqEt53
Hi sir. Thank you for the video. I do notice your heal on lead leg is off ground pretty much through impact.. can you explain the reason for this or direct me to a video if you've already explained.
Your videos have made understanding the driver super helpful, thank you. If I release 10” or my trail hand passes at about 10”with an iron after the ball, will I lose speed? I thought another one of your videos said 2cm after the ball for irons but I may have misunderstood. Thanks again, really appreciate the work.
The swing is very fast. I don’t think we can decide exactly were it happens but if we can learn to make the release early with the driver and later with an iron we will learn to make a better impact. The exact release point depends on rotation, grip and lateral move and is very hard to say exactly when it happens.
Great instruction, to be revisited every now and then until put into practice. Marcus, the start position of the trail arm at address and its effect on the release needs a bit more clarity for both driver and iron. Maybe just a few words in text would do. Thanks
The set up will not hit the ball so yes it would work but I would not strike it the same. There will be an earlier release and that will give me a more shallow strike. 👍
Hej Marcus! Have you done a video for release for long/mid/short irons? My irons up until 7 are reasonably consistent, 6i to 3i produce a push slice - so the club face is open. I assume this is because I am releasing too late?
Loved the circle of speed today at range. Is it ok to think of just different low points at the bottom of the circle instead of release points or are the different? I simply move forward bit to get my hands ahead for irons. Does this work?
Hey Marcus, love your videos! Hitting low shots with my irons trying to compress the ball. Balls are flying over the green. How would you go about getting higher ball flight with irons? Thanks
If you hit a straight ball without curve to the left your club path is going to the left and the club face is closed. To hit it straight or a draw you need to get your path more to the right trough the ball. Ok? Here is a video on path: ua-cam.com/video/yFmg4OfiY3w/v-deo.htmlsi=mCFLE0sZfHVvCQoM
Hi Marcus My problem is hooking to much with the driver. I am 71 and slow at rotation which I think is causing an early release. However I don't have the same problem with the irons I can draw and fade at will. I can push the ball but not slice it. Help please!
Your hook is a rolling over/rotational release. If you watch this video you will fix this with some practice: ua-cam.com/video/wi3xyG-OQNQ/v-deo.htmlsi=YEwydCXygInjTNx9
Hi! I chanced upon your video and agree with your teachings. I was doing the drills you showed, trying to swing inside out. Releasing earlier. But I’m still slicing. I tried to adjust the ball position, the tee height, anything I could adjust, but I still slice. Left the range yesterday feeling lost and not a single decent drive. What should I do?
Sadly my friend, your timing is still of and is the only thing that needs to change to stop your slice. If you release early enough the club will get the time it needs to close before impact and the slice is no longer possible. It took me only a few days to figure out how to do it with a short club but it took many month to do it consistently with my driver. The only thing you can do is go back and try again and again and again until you get it working.
@ my average swing speed is 102mph. I was using cobra f9 with tensei 50g regular shaft. I just changed to another driver last week. Paradym with Ventus TR Blue 5-S stiff flex. Made the change as I was told that I need a stiff shaft for my swing speed. So that my drives will be more consistent. For now it’s consistent slice. I wonder should I just go back to my old driver. Or should I keep trying to get things right with my new driver. Hope yo have your valuable input. Thank you.
@@redknappdex3467 When we slice we are not hitting the ball good enough to do a valuable custom fitting. No driver will really make it much better. A shorter more flexible shaft will make it easier to release but you can learn to do it with any club. You need to decide that you don't quite until you learn driver timing and then you can use any driver you like.
The only feedback is the ball. If you practice your driver you can just think about the earliest release possible. As long as you swing from the inside it will be okey. Any ball you hit from grass you need good timing to get impact and ball flight correct. I wish it was simple but it is not. ☹️
