Sausage cheese balls, I make them every year for Christmas. 1 lb. Sausage uncooked, 1 1/2 cups bisquick, 8 oz. Cheddar cheese (shreded), knead all together and make balls. Works best if sausage and cheese at room temperature. Love your videos!

You can also do a similar version to the breakfast casserole: cheeseburger pie. Ground beef/turkey, onion, cheese, bisquick (with eggs and milk). Top with condiments. Super easy, quick, and delicious.

....I've been using Bisquick for Decades ....Grew up with that greatproduct.. , ( I'm older, in my 60's, lol) so it was a Staple in Moms kitchen arsenal . There's so much you can do with that, I love the huge Strawberry Shortcake Buiscuits I always made with that. The thing about Bisquick, is you can tweak recipes to a certain extent, I have always done this... EXCEPT the Dumplings. .. Those turn out PERFECT if you follow the instructions as written.
One of the few processed foods we always had on hand. ... I still do .
I keep it in the refrigerator, in a airtight container.

I use Bisquick often and I even have a Bisquick Cookbook. I also like Jiffy Baking Mix, it's usually a few cents less in price too. And those sausage balls, I LOVE them. I'll make a batch in a 48 cup mini-muffin pan and freeze them after baking. But I don't cook the sausage before mixing. I use the raw sausage, cheese and milk. No egg. Scoop them in the cups, bake them for about 12 minutes and they're perfect. They warm up in the microwave in seconds and are great for trips, quick breakfast or snack. LOVE THEM You should try them: 1lb sausage (uncooked) 3 cups of bisquick, shredded cheddar (measure with your heart) and enough milk to mix. Scoop them in the mini muffin pan and bake.

My family used to use bisquick for sausage balls. Recently we switched to using red lobster cheddar bay biscuit mix. Game changer. I even make it with lightlife gimme lean sausage (it’s vegan). So good. When ever I get a sale on the sausage I buy all that I can. Make as many batches as possible and freeze them. They reheat really well in the air fryer.

I LOVE Bisquick! Its so versatile! I remember the upside down pineapple cake! I swear I could smell that video. lol Bummer it was dry- probably needed the fat from the milk? I know one time I made cornbread from a cheap jiffy corn bread mix and had just enough heavy cream I needed to use up that I used it instead and holy heck did I elevate a cheap box of corn bread. It was so fluffy and tender it fell apart but it was soooo good. I haven't bought Biquick in years, may have to pick up a box for nostalgia recipes. lol Plus that breakfast casserole looks tasty!

  • @chrisl37642

The reason your sausage balls was a fail is because of the cooked sausage and milk. You should always use raw sausage, room temp mixes better but isn’t a requirement. The purpose is for the 3 ingredients to mix together and be bound as one using the moisturizer from the sausage.
Been making them for over 25 years and any get together we have it’s a must that I bring them. It’s required if I don’t then I can’t come. Lol It’s a New Years Eve staple for us.
You’ll need more bisquick 2-3 cups for a single batch is what I use. I typically just pour about a cup at a time to make sure I have the correct consistency.
I always make a double batch and use one pound sage and one pound hot Jimmy Dean tends to be the best, & sharp/extra sharp cheese, the flavor is amazing.
Hope you try it again and like it. Love watching all your videos!!

I finally got to a Dollar Tree over the weekend to get my meat masher. Haven't tried it out yet but I know it will be great because of this channel!

For sausage balls I drained my sausage. I mixed Bisquick according to spoon drop biscuit recipe on box. Then I mixed in my cooled sausage and 2cups of package shredded cheese. I used cookie scooper and dropped balls on pizza pan

Noticed their original recipe for sausage balls, she does not say cooked sausage, it all cooks in oven together so the added milk would have been off too.

When I make sausage balls I use raw spicy Italian sausage
    Mixed with bisquick and cheese
They don’t melt 😜and they get a crispy-ish coating because of the fat from the sausage.

On sausage balls where you messed up is you don't cook sausage ahead. It's raw in the mix and cooks in oven.

100% raw and cold. Also, I like to mix the mild and hot sausages, but that's a personal preference.

My recipe is 1 pkg sausage, 1 cup bisquick and 1 cup cheese as well. All right out of the cooler, mix and bake.

When I do the sausage balls, I use raw meat. It's easier to mix and form into balls, and the grease that cooks out makes it so that milk or egg isn't needed to make it moist or stick together. They just cook longer.
I also have used ground beef for them with different cheeses and herbs/spices. Beef definitely needs milk or egg added.
Mozarella, garlic, basil, oregano for Italian ones to dip in tomato sauce or colby jack and taco seasoning for a Texmex version for example. Both of those are good with sausage or beef. I've also used cheddar with a squirt of mustard for a cheeseburger taste.

I make my own baking mix. It's sandra Lee's baking mix. It's great and I've used it for years. Saves me money too.
