I got my first yeast infection, and before getting antibiotics my doctor had me do a microgen lab test and I finally got my results and man it’s crazy. I barely got my results today and was really worried about taking the antibiotics but after watching this I feel better about it,now knowing about the microgen test and how it works. Why is it that a lot of doctors don’t talk about the microgen test??

If you have bacterial vaginosis all of the time ask your OBGYN to test you for Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma are sexually transmitted diseases which are the sisters of chlamydia. It just affects you differently and have your partner treated this is something that needs antibiotics Also, have your partner treated as well this is a common thing with men and women who have these bacterial infections. It shows up differently in men. Men don't know that they have this problem because they're not burning or itching unfortunately women suffer from lack of knowledge some ppl can have the infections for years and don't know it. It's not our fault we've just been misinformed that in itself is disheartening *do not use flagyl or boric acid I wish she would have spoken on this. The test isn't something that obgyn normally tests for. So advocate for yourself Queens 👑💘 Because you matter!!

Hello Temitope, I understand that having a yeast infection can be bothersome. It is not unusual to have yeast infections re-occuring as an average woman will have yeast infection once or twice in her lifetime. Here are somethings you should consider:
1. Abuse of antibiotics: Women who use antibiotics frequently tend to damage the good bacteria (normal floral) in their Vagina, creating an opportunity for yeast to invade. Some women also make the mistake of trying to treat yeast with over the counter antibiotics. Yeasts are fungi and not bacteria thus, they can only be treated with antifungals
2. Multiple sexual partners
3. Smoking
4. Basic things like washing your vulva can predispose you to infections as well, you shouldn't wash or wipe from your anus towards your vagina as it can introduce feacal matter to your vagina causing infections
5. Do you complete your medications?
these and many other reasons could contribute to the unending problem of yeast infection. I will also recommend that you visit the hospital to have laboratory investigations and physical examination. This will help with developing an appropriate treatment plan.

Your partner should get tested aswell cause if you get the infection and go back to that person and continue to have sex , if that person isn’t treated … the infection will pas back to you

Hello Alisha, the colour of the vaginal discharge you mentioned are suggestive of a bacterial infection while the drug you mentioned is an antifungal. I believe you have used a wrong medication. The best thing to do in this situation is to go to the hospital, a sample of the discharge will be taken for a culture and sensitivity test and the appropriate antibiotics will be prescribed

Is there anything you've done differently these past six months ? Do your disinfect your underwear after your yeast infections? Do you dry them in the sun after washing ? Do you wash with mild soap and not harsh detergents with strong fragrances ? Do you sometimes wear overly tight clothes ?

Antibiotics can cause yeast infections in many women! I have been struggling with chronic yeast infections and occasional BV for 4.5 years and have been eliminating things that trigger it. I had been prescribed antibiotics for BV but ironically this was always immediately followed by an aggressive yeast infection. Whether I abstain from sex or am sexually active with my partner, reoccurrence of infections always continues. My only saving grace has been using Boric Acid suppositories to reset my vaginal pH internally, however, it has not kept the issue fully away. If the discharge is colour less then there’s no problem but if it’s white (like paper white) there might be an issue
