Some people imagine that an external, portable monitor is only meant for laptops and the like, but that's not entirely true.
In today's video I'll be looking at a screen by INNOCN and will talk about all kinds of different use cases for such an external monitor, and why you might want one, too. Especially for Desktop setups. Of course, one doens't exclude the other.

Hi. Thank you for the review. Just wondering where the complete specs are listed, in particular the 10-bit color depth? I looked on the INNOCN website and the color depth is not listed anywhere. Thanks.

I have a two portable monitors I use.
One is a 4k 15.6 inch portable monitor that will work on USB C or HDMI and is great when I am away from home. I tend to use it vertically with a split so it is like two extra screen and leaves my main laptop screen for whatever I focus on. The picture is okay but it is not great for gaming as it blurs a lot, I also got it quite cheap.
I also have a 1080p 13inch USB screen, which I use with some PCs I have that don't have a screen but at some times I need to plug one in. It is easy as it just plugs in any USB port to work and my older PCs don't have USB C.
The other thing I sometimes use is my Samsung Tab S7 tablet, which can be used as a wireless second screen with my laptop and is also "touch screen".

@@mohamedelbadry1045 If I am driving I take the 15.6 4k monitor with me and my tablet that's been great. I have messed with the portable monitor's setting a bit more and it responds much better for games, though still a little blurry. For this setup I have a laptop with a 2.5k oled, a GPD G1 eGpu, the portable screen and maybe my tablet. I run the 4k screen at 1440p for gaming performance.
If I am traveling light I just pop the laptop and GPD G1 in my bag, and have been using Lossless Scaling (steam app) that scales and does frame generation making a Thunderbolt eGPU setup work better on an internal screen.
On the screens themselves I would say maybe 1440p would be better and preferably IPS and a higher than 60Hz refresh, to have less blurry games. That said the blurriness is less than older gaming laptops I have owned, it is just not as crystal clear as my OLED laptop screen.
      Hope that covered your question?

What about latency for retrogaming? Is it worth for retro platform games like mario, donkey kong, contra, arcade shotemups...? Thanks a lot

Can you further explain connectivity as far as what you don't recommend with USB C you mentioned? So I should only power from USB C with a power adapter?

    • @Nicolas11x12English
      @Nicolas11x12English  4 місяці тому +1

By that I meant you shouldn't connect USB-C power and the USB-C video input both at the same time.
USB-C power + HDMI input is no problem at all. :)

What circumstances do using the two usb-c ports at the same time cause problems?

    • @bchin324

I have to use either the mini hdmi or usb-c for a signal and the other usb-c for external power. Otherwise, the portable monitor yellow on its built in battery. This monitor cannot rely on a single usb-c for both data and power.

This is cool, I've been thinking about it, but it's way too expensive, it's more expensive than a whole tablet that can do the same thing with an app.

The 13.3” is now $150 on Amazon. Got it for my girl as an early xmas gift and she loves it bc she works remotely with her laptop. Yes there are cheaper options but to get an OLED screen for that price is crazy and definitely worth it. You wouldn’t get an OLED screen on a tablet for that price. She even prefers looking at the monitor instead of the laptop as the main screen. Plus it works with anything that can use usb-c or hdmi, much more versatile than a tablet and a more reliable connection too. She also uses it to play with her switch. I got one for myself to and honestly highly recommend it. I tried using sidecar with my iPad Pro but it’s unreliable, less screen real estate, and the OLED here looks better than that despite being only 1080p imo, nothing beats the deep blacks and poppy colors of OLED

@@extra4542 It's still hard to justify in my head, since I got a 165Hz IPS freesync 27 inch monitor for 160 euro. I fully understand that it's a niche product which is why the volume sold is lower and the prices are higher, but still.
