Wink was and is a kind, understanding man. I still don't understand why he was replaced. He was so good on Tic Tac Dough.

Wink references this as Peter Marshall did in his interview that they would tape 5 shows in one day....Wow! First of all, game shows are typically 30 minutes but I'm sure that taping a single show is a MUCH longer process with stops and starts along the way. Then there is the energy/enthusiasm component. Wink had to be UP for the fourth and fifth shows just as much as the first and second shows. That's what being a consummate professional is all about, and Wink had that in spades. Great host!

I emailed Wink many years ago and he sent back a really sensational reply which I still have to this day. I feel honored that he and I share the same initials WM, and both are born in the month of December. I own 2 decks of replica Gambit cards. I remember Gambit like it was yesterday and my obsession with playing cards began way back in 1972! Thanks for all you've done Wink!

Isn't it astonishing the way people can connect since development of personal computers.
Univac used to take up a lot of room. Now my Samsung Android smart phone can do all that a computer does. Except print on paper. CVS stores are helping by promising to print from smart phones. Remember when cameras were loaded with film and drugstores provided snap shots from them? I remember when it was only black & white.
Anyway, I am glad you are a fan of Wink. It is fun to reach out like that.
      Today is 2 August 2024.

I've loved Wink since I was a little girl. I had a pretty big crush on him in the 1960s. He's super-intelligent. I was hoping he would have mentioned that his wife, Sandy, had dated Elvis before she married Wink. Really nice guy. Would have loved to have been at Graceland when he was there for Elvis' birthday celebration in January 2023 shortly before Lisa Marie died. Great interview.

41:42--"If, if you have a concept and an idea for a show that's solid and good, then (and you have a pretty good host, like I said earlier; a host can't make a show, but he can sure help a show if it's a good concept), then you're gonna have a winner, and you're more than likely gonna have a good long run."
Tic Tac Dough certainly was that when he was there-- the game was very simple on both ends of it (answer a question, get an X or O in the box, and get three in a row to win, then avoid the Dragon on basically a computerized scratch-off board to win more cash and prizes), and that simplicity had it rolling for quite a while (and Wink rolled with it expertly where no other host could).

When I was a teenager I was on the Wink Martindale show similar to American Bandstand. We had a ball, boy was that a long time ago.

So cool, he had a rock video cameo. He appears at the end of Quite Riot's video, "The Wild And The Young".

Between him and Bob Barker, They were equal. They both love to smile, same ethics, I think that Wink was following Bob. What happened to Wink on the last day he hosted Tic Tac Dough?? He didn't look very happy; I do understand what happened. He was outgoing and funny.

Wish Wink would voice an audiobook version of his book “Winking at Life”. I would purchase it immediately! Having it available on Kindle would be nice too.

Being called "Win" Martindale that one time isn't so bad, "Win" short for Winston.
