You said it just right! Only, we (in the Netherlands) use slices of cheese instead of grated cheese. And we don't let our apple slices burn ;) We use or Stroop (is beet sugar-based, not apple stroop (we do not use that on pannekoek only on bread) or caster sugar. Never maple syrup. We put a pinch of salt in the batter. You could put a little bit of beer than the pannekoek is even nicer. We make a thicker batter. Your batter is more like the French crepes. Try a pancake with ice on top and flambé cherries. You'll love it.

In Finland we have similar products what we in Finnish call "lettu" (pronounciation as English words "let to"). We just put the toppings (mainly jam, sugar or whipped cream) on the final product on the plate. For us, a pancake is completely different. And instead of making our pancake on a pan, we make it in the oven on a baking tray.

Hello Shinichi and Satoshi. Great you love the pannenkoeken. Shinichi you said it the right way, pannenkoeken. The size of the pannenkoek is the same I make at home. The big ones you can get in the restaurants. Next time we bring you an other kind of stroop and a pack pannenkoekenmix. I'm happy that Satoshi likes them too. As topping you can put bacon and mushrooms and some onion. Thanks for sharing

@@anita5050 Hello. I like the sweet and savoury toppings. Whem I bake the pancakes at home I go for the sweer. At a restaurant the most for the savoury.

Your pronounciation is perfect. And the pannnekoeken looks just like it does when we make it at home :D only I usually use a premade mix (only have to add water). Powdered sugar or any sugar is popular as topping. You can even spread the appelstroop as it is on the pannekoek. If you have leftover pannekoeken sprinkle with sugar and roll up. They are great the next day hahaha. My favourite topping is bacon, but you can really add anything.

My mum made minipancakes for New years with peeled shredded apple and washed raisins mixed in to the batter. Very thick.

They look great! Just like the real thing. As a kid I sometimes added cocoa powder to the mix for chocolate pancakes. You can roll them too, for easy eating.

I'm Dutch, I've just had dinner, but now I feel like having pannenkoeken. Nom nom nom... It was exciting to see you cook them for the first and see how they turned out. They actually looked more authentic than those huge restaurant ones! I always make them in a 24 cm pan myself, and my favourite flavour combination is apples and bacon topped with molasses/syrup or brown sugar! But maple syrup is amazing too... Satoshi, I hope you can come to Amsterdam too! It will welcome you with open arms :)

I just love them, making them very often. In our local language they are called "Pannkoken",almost the same. I love them with jam or brown sugar,my son likes them with sugar and cinnamon or Nutella. Will try your varieties, too. 🙋😊

In the Netherlands they sell frying pans specifically for pannenkoeken. They are much larger than your regular frying pan, but very, very shallow, only something like 1 or 2 cm deep.

Oh, and if you:re ever back in the Netherlands you should really go to decoeckepanne.nl they have the best pannenkoeken and they also have many regional dishes

The batter seems to be about the same as the recipe I have for Swedish pancakes, which are thin like crepes, but I put butter and cinnamon sugar on them and roll them up. Now I feel like I need to make those since I haven't in quite a long time (I'm rarely up for breakfast on weekends).

there are basicly 2 different kinds of stroop, the most basic is made from sugar, it’s a pourable sirup.
the other one is made from fruit, most notable apples and a apple/ pear combo, these ones are like a spread and have a tangy/sweet taste.

Saute pecan bits in butter then add to your pancake or waffle mix and add a little bit of sugar to the batter along with 1/4 cup melted butter and a few drops of Vanilla then pan cook as normal.

You guys are fantastic, I hope you have a great journey to the Netherlands! My most comfortable flight from Europe to Asia was over Turkey, I had a 20 hour break in Istanbul, that was fantastic. You can take the subway to the city, have a nice dinner at a restaurant, spend the night in a hotel and the next morning go for a walk through this incredibly beautiful city, until somewhen in the afternoon you have to go back to the airport. It was absolutely unexpensive and because of the long intermission the flight was even cheaper.

We had them at a tiny restaurant on the 2nd floor of a 15th century house. I think Terry had the cheese and bacon and I had cheese and pears. Delicious!

Mmmmm!!! I need to make pannenkoeken.
I love mine with appel, bacon and stroop!
    Or plain with stroop.
But you can eat them any way you like to be honest. Sweet, savory, just experiment and enjoy.
    Loved this. Thank you!

    Good job 😊❤
We make our pancakes that way, too.
If you like you can add a pinch of nutmeg and black pepper into the batter. My family does it and it's very tasty with jam, peas or cheese.

Nice! Smakelijk eten! Did you also experience that the first one you made was not good, as the legend in the Netherlands has it? Have fun when you come over here. Try stroopwafels directly from the market, nieuwe haring (Dutch sashimi) and rookworst from the HEMA. Your pronounciation of pannekoeken was spot-on!

Just eat de pannekoek warm with butter and stroop or sugar or honey

  • @GrumpetteJV
    @GrumpetteJV 4 роки тому +1

Btw the stroop you just spread it plain with a knife, none of this adding water and make it more pourable business. 😁😁😁
Also, go to Maastricht for a change, there's more to the Netherlands then Amsterdam and Holland.
