Thanks for the breakdown! The Star Wars comparison is really good, I was thinking the same thing at the end of my first listen to this track It's a shame what happened to the Blue Man group. Don't do insight, kids.
It’s kinda weird how these guys use roms meteor attack almost as though they call Rom to rain it down. Though by that point in the game you’ve killed Rom
The lyrics: Venae oror oris Venae oror oris (The veins, by the mouth uttered) (The veins, by the mouth uttered) A damnatis inventibus A damnatis inventibus A damnatis inventibus A damnatis inventibus A damnatis inventibus A damnatis inventibus A damnatis inventibus (By the Damned Imperfects) (By the Damned Imperfects) (By the Damned Imperfects) (By the Damned Imperfects) (By the Damned Imperfects) (By the Damned Imperfects) (By the Damned Imperfects) Ave, ave stellar Aquae requiem futurum Ave, Maria sanctus (Hail, hail the star) (Eternal rest comes for the water) (Hail, holy Maria) Hic tenere deus sangua infans ex nihilo Hic tenere deus sangua infans ex nihilo Hic tenere deus sangua infans ex nihilo Hic tenere deus sangua infans ex nihilo (Here lies the divine blood of the void child) (Here lies the divine blood of the void child) (Here lies the divine blood of the void child) (Here lies the divine blood of the void child)
Most of Bloodborne's choral themes have lyrics. At the second phase, if you listen, you can hear _"Ave Stella!"_ or _"Hail to the stars!"_ Which makes sense, considering the Failures were survivors of an experiment to contact cosmic deities.
The start of the arrangement especially reminds me of Gustav holst. The living failures are failed attempts at creating beings, the celestial emissaries, capable of reaching out to the outer gods in space and across dimensions etc. alone they can’t do much except slap you but when the brass joins the choir in the middle of the piece they all work in unison to call down a meteor shower on your head. For one fleeting moment they weren’t failures and that’s reflected by the dissonance being resolved.
I'm just starting my first playthru of BB and I've noticed my favorite songs tend to all be from the dlc lol. Can't wait to get into the actual action of it.
2:48 This HAS lyrics, and that part specific the choir sings "Ave! Aveeeeee Stellar! Aquae Requiem Futurum! Ahhhhhhhhh Dominus Sanctum" (Hail! Hail the stars! Eternal rest comes from the water! Ah Sanctified Lord") and then goes on repeating "Hic tenere, deus sangua infans ex nihilo" (Here lies the divine blood of the void child)
The first time this played in the game, with the context of the fight itself, gave me real chills. Bloodborne somehow captured the Lovecraftian feeling that was only possible in books - you feel like you’re seeing something you truly shouldn’t, because it’s so incomprehensible. It’s so damn great that the game first grounds you before introducing the astral element to it.
Undoubtedly for me this theme is top 3 of old hunters, a super epic theme for a simple boss but that transmits a lot of lore through the melody. One of my favorites from Bloodborne along with Darkbeast and Laurence.
Funny enough Bloodborne is probably the only game of FromSoftware that have actual translatable lyrics in mostly of their songs, probably because of the aesthetics of the game that seems like Latin were actually used, this song is amazing.
Translatable is a bit of a stretch. Having myself transcribed and tried to translate Bloodborne pieces I'd say it's 50% gibberish and 50% latinish lyrics. I say "Latinish" because grammatical rules are often bend at will to the point it's extremely hard to understand what the lyricist was going for, that and irregular pronunciation accross pieces make it really hard to translate the OST as a whole. Bit and pieces of meaningful sentences can be found here and there but not much more than that. The only translation I was truly satisfied with was that of Laurence, which is the only piece from the OST (with Hail the Nightmare) that feels like is meant to be listened and translated as a song.
This theme is one of my favorites, and as you may or may not have picked up on, it was inspired by “Mars, Bringer of War” from the Planets. If you enjoyed this theme, I recommend “Astel, Naturalborn of the Void” from the Elden Ring soundtrack! Another song inspired by the Planets symphony, I’ll let you guess which planet!
When I first played bloodborne, I looked past this track because of how enamored I was by Ludwig’s music. After really falling into the music by itself it quickly became my favorite in the entire series. The fact that those deemed as failures, somehow against all odds were able to actually call upon the cosmos successfully like many before them failed to do, even if only briefly and the second part of the track reflects that perfectly
One you should definitely do is the ZREO Twilight Symphony, especially the last 5 tracks since it's the music from the final boss battle sequence and the credits. It makes me want a film made based on Twilight Princess, it slaps that hard.
I really love Bloodborne as a whole thing, atmosphere, gameplay, aesthetic and of course its OSTs! Thank you very much for the Breakdown, Atlas! Living Failures OST is soooo good for this Boss fight! If you ever be able to play Bloodborne, which I'd love to see, you will understand what I mean!!!
Honestly this should be one of the more symbolic tracks of bloodborne. A march of progress, humanity, or even just the people themselves is met with a celestial grandness they can't hope to fight or achieve. The choir crescendo only plays when they summon meteors from space or a different dimension. Something that they were considered failures for not being able to do!
I don't know if you we're nervous, happy, sad or any other emotion up there, while you were reacting to Living Failures, hard to tell But glad you enjoyed it!
When I fought this boss a couple of weeks ago I had the feeling of fighting actual aliens, Bloodborne has such a mysterious cosmic theme near the end of the game that completely catches you off guard, masterpiece
You got it Atlas. This song does, in fact, have lyrics! I think the majority of Bloodborne lyrics do, actually. So do some in Elden Ring. There's a guy on UA-cam who posts the songs with the lyrics, don't recall his channel right now though. Anyways, I pulled the lyrics off the internet for you: [Verse 1] A damnatis invenitus Venae horror oris A damnatis invenitus [Verse 2] Ave, ave stellar Orae requiem futurum Ave, Maria sanctus Hic tenere ivero sano sangua infans exnihilo
Great video as always since you've already done videos on the big siege monsters from monster hunter world id really like to see a breakdown on either shara ishvalda or perhaps even the black dragon fatalis from monster hunter world. Keep up the awesome content.
Summoning the Cosmos! Such a great track. I'd also recommend Yhorm the Giant from Dark Souls 3, it's an awesome track that often gets forgotten due to how brief the fight can be.
Day 94 of requesting House of Sacred Remains from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Beautifully atmospheric track and one of my fave's from video games in general. It'd be awesome to hear what you think of it. It's the theme of a level set starting from a cathedral and ending in the crypts through lots of library areas, it's not a particularly significant or infamous level at all but I think the track really reflects the hallowed grounds housing sacred relics beautifully. The 4 minute upload from the Castlevania Sound Team is the one to listen to.
Finally my favorite track from the Bloodborne DLC. I kinda feared that it would also get blasted with a B tier by Atlas but then I was happy when it got an A :D Now I really want to do another Bloodborne run.

Hi. :) I think interesting can be first opening from anime "Dororo" from 2019, it's song "Kaen" (Fire) by band Ziyoou-Vachi (Queen Bee), it have official music video, but also amazing is version from The F1rst Take UA-cam channel, there artist have only one take to perform song and it's posted on channel, in this version is only acoustic guitar and vocal, just amazing performance. It would be great to see your reaction to these two versions, studio and from The F1rst Take, maybe in one video, it would be interesting. ;)
@@grincker9234 I noticed that they do that a lot with Bloodborne. A famous example Ludwig The Holy Blade when you get to phase 2 with that beautiful cutscene, the sync between the cutscene/his movements when he swings his sword and the soundtrack is perfect. I freaking love it

1. Orphan of Kos.
2. Living Failures.
3. Laurence the first vicar.
4. Lady María
I die a bit more inside when a new bb reaction isn't Gehrman's theme. Even if I must wait until the end of time, I will see that reaction!
He will wait till he plays the game probably to hear it the first time
I don’t know if he has a reason for not doing it, but he has to know it’s one of, if not the most anticipated track.
It’s happened!
Oh, with a vibe of Gustav Holst! (Mars, the Bringer of War)

Funny enough Bloodborne is probably the only game of FromSoftware that have actual translatable lyrics in mostly of their songs, probably because of the aesthetics of the game that seems like Latin were actually used, this song is amazing.
