I trained with Steve in Kirkdale,Liverpool in 1974 to 1976. He was inspirational. I am 72 now and still train twice a week.

I only had the pleasure and honour of meeting Cattle Sensei on two occasions, first at the Higashi nationals in 1990 socially when he and his squad were guests and the second time months later on a course. He remembered me from our first meeting and then asked me to be his ukemi as he demonstrated a bunkai. He kindly held back on a battering but his knowledge and the way he explained things still inspire and influence me to this day 23 years later. Thank you for coming into my life Sensei.

I had Steve as a trainer once in the mid 80's. It was a true honour and a very humbling experience. Expected some very advanced techniques and combinations to be learned, but instead Steve crawled around on the floor inspecting our most basic stances, correcting how our toes gripped the floor etc.

I can still remember Steve saying "Your Kata was excellent." That was 36 years ago, Kihon Kata at Plesseys Karate Club. No joke when I say the standard of Karate in the 80's was immense, especially in the Liverpool area. People trained like their lives depended on it. I suppose it was true really, Liverpool was a rough but great place then. Steve was inspirational, clever, mild mannered and built like a block of titanium. I'm looking at my red KUGB licence with his name plastered over several grades. Wonderful days. I wonder what happened to Tommy Waters, my Sensei? Now that's one bloke you don't want to mess with!

Is that the old Plessey's factory, East, Lanc's, Road, Croxteth?

@@jeffreybresnahanPlessey had a couple plant’s and factories my old man worked on edge lane. We moved to Sutton manor when the pulled the old houses down just of the 62. Stevie took me for my yellow and purple. But like the original comment The red triangle guys. Where the first occidental team to beat Japan in the finals in Japan. They spread there teaching all around Merseyside and Cheshire. Sorry I can’t spell the first sensi name he arrived in London opened a dojo. But had come to Liverpool where he said we trained more closely to the samurai way and moved to Liverpool. That is the start of the red triangle and karate in the uk. Or so I’m told and I wouldn’t argue with them🤣

Steve Cattle, one of the most impressive followers of sensei Kase. I trained with him in Belgium back in the 90's just before his death. A very skillful sensei and a good fighter. His lessons were always very interesting and based on realistic situations. We will always miss him

Steve was awesome, he used to give me a lift home on the odd occasion.... if he thought I'd worked hard enough. In the gym he used to get people to stand on the weights then he would lift the entire stack plus them... good times! DC

Magnificent Sensei. He had great inside and knowledge. From now on I am going to practice Hangetsu following his teachings. For me, the most insightful teaching was practicing Hangetsu while imagining you are up against a strong current. As soon as he mentioned the etymology in Chinese I had an epiphany. Thanks Sensei Steve Cattle, thanks for uploading, and thanks for the Internet, which made all of this possible. CRT

I was student of Steve Cattle at his Stanley Road, Kirkdale, Community Centre, SKC Dojo; from 1978 - 1980; having transfered my training from the Kirkby SKC; after training under both William Crystal and Jeff Young.
I took all my further grades
with Sensie Steve Cattle from my 5th Kyu; up to my
    1st Kyu.
He was one of the best knowledgeable, and the kindest sensies that I had both the honour, and pleasure to train under.
I can still recall the majority of the Kirkdale Shotokan Karate Club's senior black belt member's, who all made up both the
    A & B; kumite and Kata team's:
Steve Cattle, John Errington, Sandy Hopkins, George Godfrey,
Jimmy Farley, Stevie Ryden, Michaylo Fedyk, Peter Worrel and George Morris.
    Great training, and great day's...
