Ring pull tabs started in 1962 and ended in 1975. In 1958 all cans were made of aluminum according to Google search. I remember all the pull tabs everywhere and not good for bare feet. I was glad to see them go!
Dang that brings back memories. Drinking a beer out of one of those and making a chain out the the beaver tails(pull tabs). Seeing how long your chain was at the end of the night. This was in the 70's
1958-1962,63. I find them all the time in the woods completely rusted out...the barrel is usually ok because of the ink, but the tin tops and bottoms are always gone....the bottom of this can looks brand new!
Pepsi/Coke, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda are a good combo for removing stubborn rust. Either soak it or use the mixture to gently scrub it. My brother uses it it clean and restore vintage rusty coins. We have also restored an old metal bookshelf that was extremely rusty as it had been left outside for years. 🌸💗🌸 I hope this tip helps for restorations in the future
Awesome Tyler, I was surprised how much scrubbing you can do without doing any damage at all, very cool. I'm so relaxed now, this is very ASMR too, thank you Tyler💖
It cleaned up really well, i suggest a product called CLR in a small grey jug. It makes quick work of any rust on anything. Its a very useful cleaning product for the types of things you will be spending time restoring. Anyhow, its hard to believe how well that can survived in the water for so long, especially when you compare it to other cans you have brought up. Great job!! Love these videos ❤
@@thefisherfarm That will help out A LOT on those thickly rusted items. I would not use it on items like these cans or the sign you restored. Electrolysis could ruin the surface.
HAY THEY BROTHER I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW AWESOME THAT CAN TURNED OUT FANTASTIC VERY COOL FOR THE HISTORY EXPECT I GUESS JOB WELL DONE 🤗 !? AND I WATCHED YOU DO THAT VERY TEDIOUS !? HOPEFULLY ALL IS WELL THEY HAVING A GOOD SAFE WEEKEND TAKE CARE KEEP FROSTY AND WATCH YOUR 6 Ⓜ️ ✝️ !? NOW WE KNOW WHAT'S YOU DOING WHEN WERE ON LOCKDOWN LOL😋😂🤗✝️Ⓜ️ !?
Nice one tyler i love to watch all your video's i think you're a star very interesting i am retired now so keep em coming my friend and all the best with your channel's
Seeing all that rusty grime scrubbed off is surprisingly satisfying. That can is 70's or earlier. Looks amazing for a relic, ..great job finding one in such good shape. 👍 See you next time.
I know you found some cans with the plastic rings on them too. What they would do is once they were empty they would put them back in the rings. Making for an easier toss away. This can came out really good. ;-) Keep it out of the sun. Looking forward to you cleaning up more of neat finds.
That's amazing that it looks that good. I remember when cans looked like that. For it to be in that water for so long. I am amazed. Good job! Make some money on it now. I wouldn't worry to much about the rust. May damage it.
This can had a pull tab, so that means it's no earlier than 1962 and it looks like that kind of tab was from 1965 on. Before the pull tabs, all cans had to be punctured.
I’m actually shocked at how good that can looks after scrubbing it! Specially the lid and base and seems with all the rust built up! Now you could actually sell it or keep it for your kids. I found 2 meat cleavers that were buried under loads of junk. I used dawn detergent and peroxide oh and one of my wife’s pans. There was so much grease between the wooden handles and the rust came off! Great right! My wife’s backing pan well, that solution destroyed the finish! Ooops
That's killing me, lol. That brush is putting so many scratches into the paint and tin. You should find chemicals you can use to make it through the rust and grime.
Yeah,. I will make a suggestion...I was cringing so hard I pooped a diamond pendant...lots and lots of dawn dish soap... when you used too much add more and running water. I use the pads of my thumbs in small gentle circles...did I say lot's of dawn Blue ....the soap and water carry the grit away like a parts washer and rarely affects painted objects...sun dead paint you will lose the surface ink. Lots of soap... vinegar and water mix 50/50 , baking soda paste from water and soda mix ... don't let it sit...then douse with vinegar..the foam will lift tons of dirt...use a few drops of dawn in the paste...works awesome plus it's fun to play with.... don't get me started on electrolysis for removing rust then electroplating diy.. I'm having a stroke over here...invest in Dawn, baking soda and vinegar. All water soluble and won't kill off the wildlife.. I'm binge watching! Thanks for giving this old Veteran something worth watching through the nights. keep up the great work and content! ...
Amazing how well that can survived. Must have been very little minerals or chemicals in the water. Question: What would be you thoughts/opinion on lightly sanding the unpainted areas like the top seam? Keep up the good work!
Here's your answer sweet son. You are my son's twin. When did aluminum cans replace steel cans? They were originally made out of tin, then steel, then aluminum in 1958.
Maybe before you do that bayonet you should have someone look at it cause it could be worth more if you didn’t restore it! Same with other things you find, you could do more harm than good!

Who else was terrified that Tyler was going to accidently scrub off the painted label?
I am now terrified just in case he takes of the name on the can

I have found tons of these cans and this one was by far the best condition! I wonder if the mud didn’t preserve it? 🤔
@@thefisherfarm colder water mud and murky waters keep the sunlight off from the print and coating used on the top and bottom.

CLR is really good stuff.
@@wesleyyurcina5948 Yes! Its makes some big jobs so easy
I have a few different things I’m going to try! I just made an electrolysis tank also!
Evaporust is just as affective, and less damaging to what you are restoring and environment.

Turned nice!! I love finding these old beer cans!
Glad it turned out and it’s still shiny.

That's a nice looking can maybe you should go get it appraised and let us know how much it ends up being
It sure looks better from when you started . It turned put pretty darn good . Nice job . 💜💚🥰
I found that exact same can at Lake Don Pedro in California. And it’s in pristine shape besides the writings a little faded
Nailed it. Looks pretty good.
Thank you 😊

It’s amazing to see them come out so clean 🧼
You should email Budweiser see if they will buy the can for there selves as a memory
Perhaps a 3M scotchbrite nonstick pad could get a bit more of the gunk off of the can. We are enjoying these videos.
By far, the best shaped can I’ve ever seen pulled from water like that, cleaned up amazingly, great job, Tyler, excited to see what’s next!
Turned out good.
It is so satisfying watching these item come back to life. Can't wait to see more.
Well done!!
Great job Cleaning up

Good video. Thanks

I will definitely be restoring that gun! Thanks for watching 😊
@@thefisherfarm awesome! Can’t wait man! 😁
Mister said if you coat it with some Polly it will keep it from rusting more
Great clean up job, Tyler!! FYI, your can goes anywhere from to $10 to $20 on ebay! Not bad for one magnet throw into some murky water, huh??!!! 😃
Jackpot! 😎

Try to find evaporust, works awesome on rust.
Pretty cool, digging on the new channel! Perhaps an ultrasonic cleaner would work on some of you projects?
Totally cool. Must be 1960s. How did it survive so long ?
FRANKIEEEEE !!!!
That's killing me, lol. That brush is putting so many scratches into the paint and tin. You should find chemicals you can use to make it through the rust and grime.
I tried I use the plastic brush instead of the metal brush but I realize after this one I should have maybe used a rag for some parts!

How do you get that angle of view on the camera? Are you wearing the Go pro like when you magnet fish?
That’s top secret! 😎
I think early 70's they went to putting aluminum tops and bottoms on before they went all aluminum
👍
Waiting when you start cleaning the plirers and pocket knives
I wonder how that can stayed in such good condition for over 50 years!
I’m thinking buried in the mud it must’ve been preserved!
Here's your answer sweet son. You are my son's twin.
When did aluminum cans replace steel cans?
They were originally made out of tin, then steel, then aluminum in 1958.
Scrub it in the bowl with the soapy water, save you cleaning up after.
The Logo coming off
❤
This could be worth a lot to those who collect
Thought you got like a cast-iron plane of some sort that you're supposed to be trying to make a video on so I can see it
✅
I would have scrubbed it under the soapy water
Actually the whole steel cans are still around there mostly fruit cans. I think they are Mexican cans.
I wonder if soapy bleach water would work on stuff like that 🤔
I really enjoyed the video. Quite mesmerising but I have to ask if it was a restoration it just a god clean? Lol 😝
Maybe before you do that bayonet you should have someone look at it cause it could be worth more if you didn’t restore it! Same with other things you find, you could do more harm than good!
Too bad it's probably not worth anything now.
