Moores pens were produced in Boston just after the turn of the last century, and the safety pens were produced for about 30 years. They were marketed as fountain pens that wouldnt leak. They are very collectible- with new seals in place, they are still usable today- so I'd imagine that sign might be valuable to the right collector.
I googled Moore’s won’t leak, the search brought up flyers from the 1920’s. I didn’t see a sign like yours in the images. That might be worth some cash money.
Super cool sign Tyler. Nice job cleaning it up. I wouldn't use a screw driver to scrape the rust. A plastic scraper would be better. Less of a chance of damaging the paint.
The next time you have something like that, that you do not want to leave scratch marks on, try a glass top stove cleaner. That stuff works great !! Love the sign, turned out pretty darned good!
Nice clean! Wouldn’t recommend using a metal screwdriver though bud. Also when you turned it over and rested on some of the rust. There are potential’s for further scratching. What an awesome find though 👍
use a plastic scaper to remove rust like tant, avoids scratches. cool find tho Moors is a Boston base company and there pens now sell between 100$ to about 275-300$ i think it started in the 1950's, not sure about that.
You know what I really like is when you are restoring and we are watching on TV..we get to research the web and learn a little "Americana" and share with the rest.
Those old enamel and ceramic signs can be worth a lot of money! You have a rare one there and probably could ask top dollar for it (thinking $100 or more even in it's current condition).
Great to see the item cleaned up. Polishing compound works great, brightens the sign and protects it. No more screwdriver. Use old toothbrushes. Keep up the good work. The sign is porcelain.
Man that thing came out nice. Got to be a less destructive way to clean the rust off besides scraping. Maybe soak in mineral oil before cleaning. If you can maybe electrolysis.
Pepsi/Coke, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda are a good combo for removing stubborn rust. Either soak it or use the mixture to gently scrub it. My brother uses it it clean and restore vintage rusty coins. We have also restored an old metal bookshelf that was extremely rusty as it had been left outside for years. 🌸💗🌸 I hope this tip helps for restorations in the future
You done good ! How satisfying. It would be cool if you could have a small museum of all the good items. Put behind glass though. Maybe someplace will give you a section of their store or whatever to set up. Or do a virtual museum set up in you house somewhere so nothing grows legs and departs.
restoration work sure looks challenging! Lose the metal driver and use an old toothbrush or even a plastic scraper instead. Anyhoo, it turned out pretty good!
Wow, amazing. Son bought the land where he grew up. On that property he found a 1937 license plate, I am sure it belonged to our old landlord. It was rusty and didn't look like it had much hope, but, I saved it and it is in my car trunk. After seeing this, I am going to try and see what I can come up with. Again, Amazing!!! Thanks! 😍
Hey Tyler, you should use a wide flat putty knife to scrap at the rust rather, than a screwdriver bit, as rolling it over to one side will put a nasty scratch and deface your find. So eone may want to buy that sign, someday and they won't buy it with a big scratch on it. Refining your resto-finds will be profitable in time. Love your channel, Dude.
Did a little Googleing and didn't find much. That's a sign for the Moore's Safety Pen. The company was founded in 1917. I only found an image of a red sign that looked like it was from the same era.
Great job of restoring the sign. I was a bit nervous when you were scrapping the sign, but it came up beautifully for you. Have a great day my friend ❤🙂.
nice new channel, love your magnet fishing. looking forward to you cleaning up some of the other interesting pieces you have found (the old pistol, drinks cans, and decorative iron plate spring to mind). deffo need some less abrasive tools for the job though, and a narration.
There is an oil that "American Restoration" (discontinued TV show) used to give these old signs a nice gloss. BTW, I did not think it would look this good.
You're better off using a soft brush and water to start with to get the loose dirt off then nylon pad to get the heavier parts off. Use some rust stop to finish off with to stop it from rusting any more
You need to use a putty knife instead of a screw driver...less damage. Before you do any scraping, you need to soak it over night in some vinegar. The acidity lifts the rust, but make sure you oil it when you are done or the rust will come back. Just passing on some of my tried and true methods. I heard that lemon juice works too, but I haven't tried it yet. If it works, I'll let you know. Pretty sign tho'.
HAY THEY BROTHER AWESOME HUNT AND COOL CLEANING UP THAT VINTAGE SIGN🤗 !? I HAVE A SINK FULL OF DISHE'S ANY TIME YOUR READY LOL 😂😋 !? KEEP FROSTY AND WATCH YOUR 6 TAKE CARE ✝️ Ⓜ️ !?
You cast the line with little effort. How long did it take to get to where a day of fishing didn't involve six days in traction with a full body cast? How heavy is your go to magnet? What do you suggest for beginners equipment. I am 6'3" and can throw a crankbait all day. Not sure if that helps with throwing a magnet.
Wow nice job! What was the orange stuff you used to clean the sign? Want to know for when I try my hand in my own restoration projects. Thanks!! Keep up the good work and videos!

Not sure but think oven cleaner just might remove the old paint
@@toasted4112 not oven cleaner, glass top stove cleaner.

That pen first came out in 1923. That is 99 years, great find.
Good morning everyone

Hi 👋
Nice cleaning 🧼
Look’s vintage!
CASH MONEY!

Boy do I like these restorations . Almost like an ASMR . Relaxes the mind and bonuses like this vintage sign .
Great work, paint color and graphics left was pretty amazing considering the time it spent under water
Came out nice. I love how the only sound of your restoration videos is the sound of the tools. Satisfying..

Kaaaaching !!
That is one very sweet keeper, for sure!! Such a great find! I was doubtful that it would clean up that well. It exceeded my expectations! 😃
Super nice collectable sign, it will look great on your wall Tyler!!!! Thanks again for more great content!!!!
that turned out amazing, would you ever do a video showing off the collection of stuff you have found while magnet fishing and kept?
You done good ! How satisfying. It would be cool if you could have a small museum of all the good items. Put behind glass though. Maybe someplace will give you a section of their store or whatever to set up. Or do a virtual museum set up in you house somewhere so nothing grows legs and departs.

Well done Tyler! 🤙🏼😎

OMGosh !!!!!!! You done a fantastic job on thar sign . What a difference. 🧡💜🥰
Love the sign, you've done a great job on this. Hope it's hanging in your garage now!
Glad to see not everything is scrapped, very nice job 👍. How are you going to keep it from rerusting?? Thank you for sharing
That’s a good question! Any suggestions? 🤔 thanks for watching!
@@thefisherfarm would love to see you do the basic cleaning of the pistol you found 😉 that would be awesome 👌
I remember you finding this one!! Super cool!! ❤️🤙
Oddly satisfying

After doing front clean bench before starting on back, or you are undoing your hard work.
Great job!
Wow! Love what you're doing.

This sign cleaned up nice😮. Great wall decoration with a story behind it. Love the video 😊
Great job
Outstanding restoration!
I love all your content
❤️
Came out beautiful. Great work…
May I suggest a plastic scraper? And a lil' 'Bar Keeps Help' would work so well on signs 😉 Just trying to be helpful 🤗
Fantastic video❤❤❤👍👍
I remember this it was a year ago
Fisher 👌👍🏼🍺
Thanks for watching! 💪 🍻
Awesome clean up!
Mmm.soo 😌 relaxing.
Really enjoyed your job cleaning 👌 🙂

Love this one
What a find that was. These videos are so satisfying to watch. Im so glad you are doing them. That was an excellent job!! ❤
So cool!!
Nice job!!
Nice job (again) that sign is close to 100 years old. Sweet find!

Hundred year old sign. Cool.
Nice!!
that so cool it over 100 yrs old
NOW YOU SHOULD PUT IT IN A SHADOW BOX OR PICTURE FRAME!!!
great job ;)
its a pen cool ;)
Soak sign in vinegar to stop the rust chemically.
Tell Moore's you found their sign, haha!

Wow!!! That looks so good. Did you use regular dish soap on it?
Looks like used DAWN antibacterial dish soap
Dawn is a good dish soap to use especially on greasy or oily items
I did use dish soap
Wow that's amazing!!! So awesome! Was that lemon or dawn you used on the back??
Dawn!
👍

They make hard plastic scrapers
Wouldn't it be better to use a Razer blade to scrape with?
What is going on guys… shhh! this is a fisher restoration video
Moore's won't leak.
Leila was wondering why don't you talk in these videos like you do in your magnet fishing videos?
I’d have got it cleaner #AttentioToDetail
please don't use something metal to scrape another piece of metal with a like a sign or something you're liable to damage the image that's left
Won’t 🤦🏻♂️
Why don't you talk on the restoration videos?
Just trying something different!
