I miss the days in the 70's when you'd go out in London, and get really togged out with some great gear, colouful gear, get a posh hair style, splash on some 'Victor' loved it all the way home. First heard Spandau in 79' Fantastic. Loved 70's music but early eighties Romantics was great too. I think we are blessed with music, if anything has kept us together in ourselves it's music.
It's about time Chris Sullivan and his Blue Rondo output had an integral re-release package, though the first album has a fine cd edition by Cherry Red. This segment would make a fine dvd bonus. But more on the Blitz Kids era is always welcome.
"New Romantics" was big in the 1980's. It was a type of music like Punk, Reggae, and Soul music. "Spandau Ballet" and "Duran Duran" were two of the biggest "New Romantics" bands at the time and sold millions of albums and had many number one hits in the charts. ""
While I find some of these videos more interesting than others it is certainly worthwhile uploading them. I'm interested to see some 1980s/1990s Newsnight analysis of the Chinese "economic miracle". An article about Deng Xiaoping, for example, after he retired in the early 1990s or died in 1997.
I like how the New Romantics deliberately built a scene, very awesome DIY idea
This is fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing.
+Princess Amy Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

I was a New Romantic, still am in a way.
The song at the beginning of this video playing in the background is "Ella Fitzgerald" singing "Manhattan" 00:36 Very beautiful song
I've met Rusty Egan...at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. Still a lovely bloke😍

I want a shirt like John Baker wears. It's the same as John Taylor's in Planet Earth vid
I predict they'll soon go commercial and start making mainstream pop and one of them will be in Eastenders.
Bloody cynic! These guys would never sell out. What next? A line of clothes at Sainsburys?
Just love the Kemp brothers and Tony with a beard.
Gary Kemp has gone posh since this. It’s like he’s a completely different person now!
In 1985 and1986 I was personally 'reviving' all of this
Quelle époque 🎉
This must be January 1981. "Forever taking photos of each other" - interesting comparison to today.
5:04 It’s Cat-Weasel 😂
New romantics? Never heard of them. I'll keep an eye out for them though. Maybe newsnight are ahead of the curve?

What do they have to do with Rome? Theyre Irish.
Romantics has nothing to do with Rome. I recommend you go to dictionary website and lookup the word "Romantics"

Ikr its crazy that the band is called New Romantics. The music is actually very good.
They aren't Irish... They are from Islington. And "romantic" doesn't mean Roman...
Brilliant
