- So now that we have a larger area to cut we had to get a bigger mower. We decided to go with the Bad Boy ZT Elite Mower. We never heard of the brand of Bad Boy yet we are glad to get this ZT Elite Mower to cut these 6.5 areas. This is not a review of the ZT Elite however we will be doing a review next month on what we like, its pros, and its cons.

ahhh cool
I have had mine for about 10 years and I have nothing but great things to say about it! It is tougher than a pine knot! I changed the blades last year for the first time. They are really thick and hardened. They stay sharp forever and really hold up. I am still running the original belts on it. I mow about an acre and 1/2 now but I used to mow a lot more. I figure this will last me as long as I live. The biggest repair I have had is replacing a starter motor. last year. The other was replacing the Choke Cable. The deck is super thick I have not managed to dent it and that is saying something. It also cuts high stuff with in reason and you never have to go back over it. Great Mower!!!!!!
Yea we have been loving ours as well. Ran over a tree root one time and did damage to the root than the blade and mower.
That's a sweet zero turn mower y'all, Bad Boy puts out a good product for sure!! Y'all have a good Thursday evening!! Dan
Yea I we never heard of that brand before and decided to give it a go. It wasn't our first choice however it definitely did the job. thanks for stopping by and watching. Have a blessed day.
You 2 are awesome! You remind me of my wife and I in every aspect! Salute to you 2! And yes, I will be picking up a ZT Elite for my lawn service! Thank you for the video!
Thank you. This ZT Elite has been a beast for us with the grass out in the pasture. Do you do residential or mostly commercial lawns?
@@TheNakidGardeners I'll be doing both with that machine.
I have a web swing love it! Yay. It’s so pretty out there guys! Cool to get to try it all out. I’ve never driven one of those! Great video as usual guys!
Thanks Dani. Going to be putting up the swing this weekend. Using the push mower was not cutting it on this property lol
Thanks for the video guys. I’m picking up my Bad Boy (same model) next weekend. I’m excited.
Exciting!!
We are still in love it ours over a year later 😊
@@TheNakidGardeners 😅
I just bought thr limited edition elite. I like it fine
Thanks for showing off the mower. I have been looking into getting one.
Apparently, we picked the wrong engine. I guess mower/engine fanatics didn't like our engine we selected, the kawasaki motor wasn't available at the time. It does what we need for our property
Good protect review, enjoy. That looks like clover, collect some and the cows will love you. take care and stay safe
We tried to give the mowed clover and hay to them but they seem to like the burdock. We are going to eventually get the bagger attachment and give the clover to the turkey, chickens, and goats.
Congrats on the homestead and the mower. Keep an eye out for low stumps. 🍻
Haha Yea we have seen some around and flagged those up. Appreciate it. Thanks for stopping by
Ware all the safety equipment with your mower ear protection as well as those you mentioned already. That’s a great mower I have the same in 54” when your exiting mower whole still running it make sure you push the forward reverse levers out to the neutral position and then pull park brake mower will continue to run and not die great video and very informative thanks for sharing
We started to wear some ear protection now that we have be on it for two months now. Well, we actually wear ear phone and listen to music while wearing eye protection. Might have to start wearing a mask from when the grass goes flying in our face. Oh we asked about that safety feature on the seat so now we don't have an issue with it. Think we will be doing a 3 month review on this mower shortly.
Thanks for stopping by and watching.
It’s a great mower, I have a bod Boy elite 2015 60’” . No problem in 6 years
We love hearing that! It is a BEAST 😍
Zero turns for the win! We have a yellow one 🤙-Josh
Yea we had to get one. That push mower on 6.5 ac was not the business. lol Which brand and model did you get?
@@TheNakidGardeners we've got a cub cadet👍
Ooooh they went big y’all!! Congrats!
haha Had to with this much land
Dude. I Just bought a bad boy ZT elite with the kohler pro with a 60” deck myself! Went through K&G as well, great folks! They’re delivering it tonight! 😂 mower twins!
Too funny! What made you decide to go with the Bad Boy brand?
@@TheNakidGardeners been researching them and they have really positive reviews. I’ve watched a bunch of videos on zero turns and read lots of forums. From everything I’m reading they’re some of the best made mowers for the price. I was looking at their tractors too. But they’re brand new and when I get a tractor I want it to have at least some time on the market before I buy. I wanted the Kawasaki engine on my ZT elite. But they said it’d be maybe august before they got any in.
@@LoneStarLiving Yea we are looking at tractors as well. We are looking for a place that sells Branson. They are really good on price for what you pay for.
What the Kawasaki engine?
@@TheNakidGardeners the bad boy ZT elite has 3 engine options 1 of which is the Kawasaki. K&G said they won’t get them in until august.
I’ve heard of Branson. Isn’t that what hamiltomville farms has? I’m interested in yanmar. The company that makes yanmar had made the cummins diesels for years and from what I’ve read/seen their engines are basically cummins.
@@LoneStarLiving Did you see the tractor with the tinted windows while you were there buying your mower?
👀.... #want 😅-Mrs. NG
Just bought a 2023 just like that. It’s a beast! I plan on putting some led lights on the front.
It is. I need to do a follow up review on this
Man, you are going to be loving that Sidney. I love the vents in that back of the seat. Looks like they threw in a few hats for you guys. Tori is getting the hang of it quick. Them snakes just need a little privacy to get their grove thing on haha. The snake crawling on the lower Perlin looks like a Banded water snake. Sounds like you got some good advice on buying the mower from Hank.
Great video and I think you made a great choice on your first riding mower. I think you are going to really enjoy it. Congratulations.
Thanks. We are loving it. Wish the rain would stop so we can get back to mowing. The ground is saturated and hard to even drive through it let alone mow it. Hopefully, we can get some good hours on it to give our full review on the mower. Do you currently have a zero-turn mower?
@@TheNakidGardeners Man I know how it is when you get a new toy and want to go use it. I hope the rain stops for y’all!
I have a Husqvarna zero turn. I’ve had it about 7 or 8 years. I have 15 acres but cut about 2.
They have lots of attachments for the Bad Boy mowers. Tow hitch, baggers, led lights, roll bar, canopies, striping kits, and many other things. Love the review guys. Watch out for the snakes. 🇺🇸
Yea we are going to slowly add some of the attachments to our mower. Do you currently have a Bad Boy mower?
@@TheNakidGardeners no I don’t but I’ve been watching tons of videos like yours and I’ve seen all the attachments that are available on the BadBoy website. Every review has been positive so I’m definitely gonna check one out. The closest dealership is an hour away here in NJ.
@@ScottyLo The Mrs has a list of attachments for the mower. I keep telling her like she tells me bout gardening. BABY STEPS! lol
I just bought me a zt elite i had a safety bar and seatbelt put on mine this will be my first yr cutting with it i cant wait
We LOVE ours!!
great little vid , I'm from Australia and just about to buy my first Zero Turn , I have been tossing up between the Bad Boy ZT Elite & the Toro Titan this has been very helpful thank you for your review ill check to see if you have an update on your initial opinions on the Bad Boy
I was initial going to go with the Toro. I am a huge Toro fan. However, Toro was on back order on a lot of their products during the pandemic and post-pandemic. So we went with Bad Boy. Never heard of them but they had a great service place near us and they have been God-send using them.
I have 5 hours on my 2021 ZT Elite and I learned the hard way about this mower and water.
I have used it 4 times and each time I would spray the deck down with a garden hose to keep it clean. After the 3rd use I noticed a squealing sound that was faint and by the 4th mow it was in full blown squealing mode. It was so bad that I had to use hearing protection to make it through the mow. I found a video that talked about replacing the bearings in the spindles and that was the exact cause of the problem. I removed all 6 of the bearings and they were full of rust and water.
After speaking to a local repair shop they recommended that I just brush the deck off with a broom and stay away from water. Hopefully someone will learn from my mistake.
We try not to spray unless it is muddy. Mostly just use the air hose now. Even when we did spray we made sure not to spray the electrical and parts the move. This was out first time owning a zero turn mower and loving it. Never knew anything about a Bad Boy. All I knew was Toro.
I have a 2006 or 7 (?) Bad Boy I bought new and have only scraped the bottom of the deck with a hand ice scraper. Hot spindles & cold water are a bad combination. Spindles are like new with 300hrs on it. Was looking at a Cub Cadet today at Home Depot while I was there and they have a hose attachment on the deck...(?)
if you have it just use a blower and blow it off
AWESOME!!!!!!! Thats all we use is zero turns... I have one and hubby has one... with ten acres we follow each other to cut grass in one day.... or a day an half... Look into get another one... keep belts on hand... cause high grass you can go through belts... We bought one for 200.00 bucks and its a beast... they thought it was dead.... So glad you got a zero turn how big is your deck????? on the one we paid 200.00 hubby took a sheet of iron and made his deck from scratch.... cost him 25.00 instead of 900.00 for a new deck....
Oh wow, I do not think we need two. This deck is 60" and we got a lot of grass cut in just three hours. And that was tall out of control grass. If this rain can stop and allow the ground to get dry we can go for another cut this weekend
@@TheNakidGardeners OHHHHHHHH YOU DID GOOD!!!! 60 inch yes you can cut through it fast... Dont go through thick stuff fast take your time through it to save the life of your mower... try to find a nice use one..... we paid 700.00 for mine its worth 2500. i could sell it for if i wanted to... Ill show this weekend... we just order 3 belts.... My hubby change the deck on mine... To 60 inch.... you did good.... so happy for you guys....
@@OrganicRawRootsFarm yea I wanted to make sure we were not cutting all day on this 6.5 ac place. I rather do other things in this Texas heat. lol
@@TheNakidGardeners Get another ONE chase each other thats what we do we cut 10 aces in one day rather then two... we use to take turns but we found out chasing each other we knock it out fast... Or i am in the front and he is in the back 10.... I hear you I hear you.... its worth it in the long run TRUST ME!!!!!!!
Looks like that new mower could make mowing fun! OMG on the snakes‼️ Can't believe they climbed up that high and then fell. Could you share the tip your friend gave you about how to keep the snakes away from the house and shop? We're going to start looking for property soon and would love to have that knowledge in my back pocket.
Yes we are going to incorporate it in one of our videos. It is called snake away or something but they no longer sell it in the big orange store. It is now called VT snakes or something like that. It is in the shop now. Sprinkle the granules around the shop and sprinkle it in the shop. When it rain you will have to redo the application. Do it every 30 days and it should force the snakes away.
Looks like a great addition to the homestead! Snakes and horses seem like a natural down in Texas! LOL The safety features are definitely important in the off chance you get knocked off for any reason.
Take care,
Rob
Yea it just threw me off when I was getting off. Going to see about getting attachments this weekend to add more luxury to the mower. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
I need this mower on my half acre lot!! So nice!!
You could mow that in about an hour. Hurry up and get you one hun.
Half acre would take you about 5 minutes
@@aaronwade1940 that sounds good!!
You go Tori!!!
She's a natural
Them snakes is big!!!!
Right. I put some snake away I got from the big box store in the shop the other day. The smells not only keep the snakes out it probably going to keep me out. Maybe I put too much done lol
@@TheNakidGardeners that's funny. Mothballs and sulphur!
Ducks, snakes, horses and cows.... Ohhhh my! 😅
You are soo smurfing cute
Looks like a cool toy!
It's definitely a functional toy 😅
Hey thanks for the video I’m looking into getting this one myself. Is it still running good for y’all a year later ? Thanks again
Yes ...it really is a beast and we have been very happy with it!
bad boys for life!
Yea this has been a tough cookie here. Going to try and put a review together. Do you own a Bad Boy?
YIKES!!!!
Hahaha ikr. I think we have taken care of the solution now though. *crosses fingers*
Nice perched. I would have gotten the Kawasaki engine. But koler is ok. Just keep the oil changed regularly.
Great advice! We got it right before they rolled out the kawasaki engine. The grass was getting high and we couldn't wait any longer 😅.... You have one too?
Hi brother question for you? How is the mower holding up after 11 months ?
I am looking to buy one for my bussines and trying to get as much info as i can to
See if it is a good Mower that i can use on my daily duties.
It's been great! We're actually hoping to do a one year after using review.
At the time we purchased, the kawasaki motor wasn't available, that is probably the only thing we feel we missed out on, but it's been perfect for us! Stay blessed.
@@TheNakidGardeners great thank you for your response new subscriber here i am sure it will handle good my small yards here in maryland god bless you brother.
@@ernesto_yz125x if it can handle our 6.5 acres it will
heya oh wouw that's nice mower and in the comments I see there sre a lot of attatsments possible, maybe a auger for wen you need to put in beems for a fence
Unfortunately, we cannot add an auger to the mower since their is no hydraulic system on their. Mostly towing features we will be able to add to the mower. Do you have a zero turn mower?
@@TheNakidGardeners heya I wish I had so much ground but my backyard is 2/3 of your new no-till garden
@@Dutch_off_grid_homesteading our new garden area isn't that big though 🤔
Good video my dear friend
Thank you
How's the mower holding up?
Great! We are about to do a year review once we stop getting this rain lol
Omg!! Snakes look freaky
IKR? We have to be on the lookout for them more now.
@@TheNakidGardeners they're beautiful, but coming up on one is usually a surprise, and then you get over the little shock, and they are ok. We had a lime green snake in my yard last year. So pretty!!
Congratulations on the purchase of the Bad Boy Elite 60"! However, did I hear you say you really wanted a Toro? Bro, let me rest your doubts. Toro isn't what they used to be, since being brought out by M.T.D. Their quality has dropped off emensley. I personally have owned the machine you just purchased, for about 3years. It performs flawlessly, but as with any small motors do yourself a favor, and only use non ethanol gas. This will save you emensley in maintenance costs. That being said if you look at the build quality to cost, the Bad Boy is the biggest bang for your buck!
Yea we are going to do a review on this mower here soon. It is a good mower. Some design flaws but has really paid for itself already. Before moving here we knew nothing about "Bad Boy" mower. Kind of glad we did purchase the mower though. Thanks for the insight
@@TheNakidGardeners Thanks for the follow up, I really appreciate it! Believe me, I completely understand, I knew nothing about Bad Boy mowers either, but I was blessed by making the choice to stop in at Winchester Power Equipment. A little mom, and pop tractor, and equipment shop. They sold many other brands, but when I asked, in detail about my personal needs, due to the property I own, and looked at the build quality of the equipment they had to offer. On top of their honesty, and perfesionalism, well, let's just say I took home a winner! I'm sure you will be happy, as I am for many years to come with your purchase.
@@TheNakidGardeners By the way, that is one beautiful piece of poetry! Wow, the pond, ducks, the scenery, amazing!
@@chevyv20 Thank you for noticing what we fell in love with, it really is a story book piece of property. 💕
Was expecting less clover and more tumbleweeds
Haha you thought so huh?
Better than a Toro in my opinion
We are warming up to the Bad Boy. Some design flaws but warming up. Which model do you have/like?
Bad Boy makes a really good mower, not the best mower, but the "Best Bang for Buck". Though with that amount of yard (6.5 acres?), I would have highly suggested going up to at-least the "Maverick" model.
Yea after hearing all about the Grasshoppers was interested in those just not the price tag on them. I didn't want to spend over 5K on a mower when eventually it will be the livestock doing the work. I was close to getting the Maverick though.
That is a seat switch. If u ever get knocked off the mower it stops the blades.
Yea we found out how to get off the seat without it going off. Had to put the handle in neutral and put the brake on. lol We will be doing a review on this mower soon.
Oh no. So sorry you got the Kohler engine.
Haha it is OK. We learned after the fact about the engines. So far it has been good though. It's been consistent thru though high brush and grass without bogging out. Which engine do you have?
The only thing I would have got Kawasaki motor.
Yeah, we didn't know the difference about motors when we first got it besides CC
