    It's easy to understand with RunAs and selected CmdLines. Can you give an example of "host restriction"? It's so obscure that it's almost impossible to imagine the usefulness that this function brings.

    Why would you add user to sudo group if it is just same as calling "sudo sth" function? I thought there would be sth like not typing password but there is no difference...

    I did what you said here on RHEL, but an error occurred saying that the user is not in sudoer file.

      Log out and re-log in. That would help.

    Wow! still didn't work. This is like the 10th instruction I've tried... I'm so over it at this point, just for a stupid, simple change that I am the legit user of anyway!

    When I type in whoami it says the user is root. Does that mean I gave all my root privileges to this user?

    • @TonyTeachesTech

      Are you logged in as root or another user?

      @@TonyTeachesTech I was logged in as my sudo non-root user. Now its ok though, problem is fixed now. Thank you for responding.

    Hi Tone. After you added the user to the sudoer group, and the user used sudo before a command what password is he supposed to enter?
    In other words, what password did you enter after sudo whoami.

    • @aliarish
      @aliarish Рік тому

      The pass of the actual user. For instance, if you create a user named "A" with a pass of "B", you should type "B" after using sudo.

    How do you get the root password?

    • @TonyTeachesTech
      @TonyTeachesTech  3 роки тому

      That's something you should have been told or was defaulted to something
