- A French man has been testing the theory of 'man’s best friend' to its limit by teaching his dog Ouka how to fly with him on a paraglider.
After just a month and a half of training, he managed to teach his pet how to join him on trips soaring over the French Alps.
Filmmaker Shams told BBC News what led him to get his dog Ouka up in the air.

The RSPCA might not recommend dog owners paraglide with their dog but Ouka definitely looks like he is ok with the experience. May they enjoy their flights and be as safe as they can be while they can.

It sure seems that way! It's all about training, trust, safety first, and fun for the dog once he/she knows what to expect and once you're sure the dog has got over any initial fear.
I'd say Ouka could use some doggy goggles, for the wind. But he looks SO chill! Sure doesn't look like an animal that's terrified or stressed out.

Like he said, if a dog doesn't want to do something, or doesn't like doing something, they will let you know. Ouka seems just fine with it.

This is amazing. So heartwarming to see the bond which the owner has with his dog. I personally don't see any issues with this, I think the dog looks very happy and healthy.

I don't think the RSPCA is necessarily commenting on ouka specifically. They are probably more worried about other dog owners taking this as motivation to try the same thing. Ouka seems to love it, but there's obviously a lot of risk involved if it's not handled in a controlled manner like it is in Ouka's case.

RSPCA should mind their own business in this case. When my dog doesn't want to do something I know it. I think the same is true for any responsible owner. Personally though I'd worry about hiking near cliffs if I did this with my dog. I'd worry he'd get confused and think he might be able to fly without me if he sees some bird he wants to chase.
I have wanted to do Paramotering for 10 year's it is next on my bucket list so I am checking it off this summer in Ireland with my brother. This is brilliant and the dog is so relaxed about it too. Wish you all the best in the future

@@guff9567 I have been run over by a buss and been given my last rights by a priest age 12 and a back seat passenger in a bad road traffic accident too. I had to learn to walk again age 23 . I am 47 now and if I get paramotering classes and get schooled right it will be a measured risk I am prepared to take. 🤣

Many years ago (1982) I learned to fly a Quicksilver MX at lake Elsinore, Southern California, the instructor/salesman was a Bill Barnes I seem to remember. He had a dog that would run alongside his ultralight barking as he took off, sometimes Bill would slow down and the dog would jump onto his lap and they would fly off together. I was always worried the dog would jump off as he was NOT safetied in but he never did!! The dog seemed to love flying with its owner and used to bark for some time if Bill left him behind. Everybody believed the dog really loved going up in the air. I don't think he would have willingly jumped up on Bills lap if he didn't.
If dog is not meant to fly, it does not matter. If this dog life will be cut short because of flying, he is lived a full and happy life! In life, that is what is important:).
Dogs aren’t brainless. If he didn’t like it, he wouldn’t have come up to his owner, get into the harness, run to take off, and look like he is straight chilling and loving the amazing view.
