Listened to him days ago at the Barbican in London. Have no words to discribe the emotions and the deep feelings that what we experienced, I would say, all there that afternoon. His emotion, concentration, finesse, pianisimos as we rarely hear, pedal at its right moment and sound grandiosity if necessary. Shostakovitch was an achievement and his encore with the trumpet on a Gershwin theme calmed the waters and left us asking for more. A joy for the soul, by the way.
I am shocked there isn't more comments. The way Trifonov plays this concerto, just unbelievable. He is literally cuddling each tone. This is not any kind of ordinary performance. It does not come just from his amazing fingers and a whole body motion, it comes from his soul. Thank you Daniil.
sadly you seem to be a glass half empty person ... there is a lot of wonderful music out there. of course trifonov is ist choice ...but the 1975 and the newest jamiriquoi is a nice change of pace. even Daniil listens to prog rock and jazz, an eclectic taste in music can never be tragic, lighten up, you will feel better,
@@dtrfanatic237 Your Answer to Godowskidream is very unfrendly and Out of Context. But Your Remarque Daniil Trifonov Listen to Prog. Rock very interesting. Reacently I heard him speaking in a Interview in Russian Language ( withouth inglish Transscript) about The Transcendental Etuedes froh Liszt, and Pink Floyd. I did Not understand a Word, but I Had the Impression that He he is interested in that Genre of Music.about His Interest and Love to Jazz , now he playes often Jonny Green/ Art Tatum as an Encore, and this in such a captivating Way ! My Question to You how did You get to know that Daniil Trifonov Listen to Prog. Rock ? 🤔
Since I heard Daniil Trifonov Years ago I'm completely hooked.to his captivating Play. ❤️ Every Pieces of Music He gets His Heart and Hands to , I'm falling in Love with !
There is no 2nd prize... when Trifonov "PLAYS" Rachmaninov! I first began to love him in the 12 Transcendental Etudes by Franz Liszt, when he did not just play 9,10, and 12, but all, from 1 to 12, with love and warmth pouring from his face. It was the most amazing performance, I saw his heart beat w/ each note. Genius.
The clarity and shaping of the fast sections is always incomparable. But it is the subtle qualities of the lyrical parts that are the real treasures-pure joy. His Rachmaninoff will be the touchstone for all others to admire.
A stunning performance.Trifunovs octaves and expressive insights are modeled after the composers recording.Truly a superb performance leaving most of the competition in the shade.
A great performance, employing the composers dynamics and phrasing which is the only correct way to play this work. Rachmaninoff asked Horowitz many times to play this Concerto which he never did. Trifonov carries on that tradition of transcendental pianism.
Shay, my thoughts exactly. No composer like him in the history of music with his lyric style and ability to write melodies that stick; no piano performer like him and his virtuosity "fed" his compositional style. There is only one Rach 3rd Piano Concerto: in my book the greatest piano concerto in history! I am so glad Horowitz did film a video of his performance of this concerto: while not the best since Horowitz was older, but there is a "flame" that burns throughout his performance. The heritage of Rachmaninoff and Horowitz are gone forever! Ahhhhh!
Just a thought ----. Russia takes their incipient virtuosos (and athletes) and gives them the sort of training they need to develop: something important because Daniil's parents might not have had the money to educate him. Yes, it is done to "push Russia to the forefront in arts and sports," but ultimately this government intervention helps some families. In America this doesn't happen. Artists need to educate themselves with no government support. Frankly, I hate America's non- assistance for their artists and sports figures. How many young people have the talent and are not given training they need to develop. As a piano-phobe from the age of 8, I had to fend for myself in the beginning with an inadequate, but cheap, piano teacher, with short spurts of working with good teachers as long as my father could afford it. Enough said!
Браво Трифонов! Браво дирижор и оркестр! Браво композитор Сергей Рахманинов концерт-1! Спасибо!

How passionate! How delicate and fantastic!
and What a devotion to rachmaninov!
What happened? Did we just have a tornado? Oh right...it was Daniil!!!
there was a video up until some inconsiderate person took it down without a thought to others, at least we can still listen to this wonderful artist,
wonderful wave, wonderful sound.

Trifonov es un excelente pianista. Es una lástima que no hay movimientos de los músicos. Sólo el audio...
Better than BEEETHOOOVEN....
A GENIUS
I have to say, here he gets very close to Rachmaninoff himself... not quite, but close enough... and that is a lot!
I agree!
I wonder if there will ever be another Rachmaninoff or anything close
