If I have listened to this video 10 times, I've listened 100 times. That t-bone guy knocks your socks off. So smooth and mellow....the way it should be.

Hello - Nice to receive a comment from fellow jazz enthusiast from France. I visited New Orleans several times in the 1960s and 70s to hear George Lewis, Jim Robinson, Kid Thomas, Cie Frazier and many more at Preservation Hall.

Great Music! I really like this arraangement - start funerary slow then pick up to jazzy march. Each musican's interpretation adds to the dimension, and the final really sells it!

Thanks for your comment. Yes, the Chicago Salty Dogs are based in the Chicago area but, unfortunately, they have no regularly scheduled venue. You might want to check out Kim Cusack's website where you will find a schedule of events.

Ailene Cusack Well, I really need to practice and a Sousaphone costs a fortune. I have been looking on Ebay and other sites, but, no luck so far. I really wish Walt Disney World had a New Orleans area like Disney Land. I could listen to this all day.

There are so many versions of this on UA-cam and they all seem to work for me - vocal; instrumental; fast; slow - I'm not keeping a league table but I'm sure this would be near the top if I did. Thanks for the pleasure.

Great to hear from you. I do have two video clips on my channel of Norrie's band which were done a few months before his death: "Over In The Glory Land" and "Exactly Like You." Very interesting about your car racing days. You're right, Norrie was a great guy!

I was getting ready to criticise this version as too fast but I changed my mind. I've played it many times including at funerals a
nd really it works at many levels I suppose my preference has always been coloured by the parade I played with the Young Tuxedo in New Orleans way back in 1978.; but I enjoyed this version, especially as it was dedicated to a past member of the great world wide musical fraternity

Thank you for such a lovely comment. Sorry about the gabby lady. Fitgerald's is a tavern and it's pretty hard to control that type of thing. Any suggestion on how to put in the Smithsonian?!!
Again thank you--I've shared your comment with some of the musicians.

Are these guys not afraid of ghosts? You could expect King Oliver to appear from wherever he is and join in with his muted cornet because he thinks that's his old band playing.

My favorite version of this song on UA-cam. Unforunately, the beginning is ruined by some dumb broad yakking away ("She said..."). And then she has to pipe in and talk over the music again at 0:51. It's a shame. Otherwise, the recording of this performance should be in the Smithsonian. It's perfect... and captures the true spirit of the of the song.
