That’s wonderful that Lance Barber was in the crowd dressed as a woman so he could be with everyone! I’m glad they ended on a high note! What a great cast and show! Lance Barber is a great actor! I hope we see him on t.v. again soon.

I didn’t know they were going to show George in the casket. This made it more real than anything I could ever imagine. It made me remember my father’s funeral.
When a show wraps with this much attention and emotion, you know they did it right.

The whole scene from him saying goodbye to their being inform was exactly how it was when my husband died. He said bye from the door, I answered bye and didn't stop what I was doing. It was just a routine day. Then it wasn't. It was a good thing there was a chair there when the officer said he's gone or I would have been on the floor. My knees buckled, I screamed and fell backwards. And like Sheldon I relive that moment and different outcomes over and over.

There is a HUGE plot point that was missed George Sr. was in the Army and a Vietnam Era vet, Where is his flag? Where is the color guard?
This was a time period where veterans did not get the recognition they do today. Many veterans did not advertise the fact, as this was still a relatively short period after the "American War"'and veterans were seen as drug abusing baby killers. When George asks Tam his mother's name, we see how George spent most of his time there. Not all veterans wanted military honors. My husband was of this time period and did not want the military honors or be buried in the military cemetery.
Not everyone wants one. My ex father in law and my late father in law were both WW2 veterans. Neither of one wanted recognition.
While george is a vet, he was motorpool never saw combat, its likely he didnt want it
Maybe the family didn’t want that…
In Vietnam there were few safe places and he died in conservative Texas. Even if no honor guard he’d have a flag
George was a great guy all the way through the series.
He played Leonard's bully on the big bang theory too

That took me a while to stop looking at him as the bully and instead as George. Now, I have a hard time seeing him as the bully on TBBT.

Lance took a character who seemed unsympathetic at first and turned him into such a lovable person that the death of George brought us to tears. I hope we get to see Lance much more in future shows.

Every once in a while you hit the bullseye in television....this show was definitely one of them...Not a dud in ANY one of their shows.Masterful casting !!! Currently "Yellowstone " is another one for me personally. ........ Mash,Friends,Seinfeld,Big Bang and 2 1/2 men,All in the family,Family ties,Mike & Molly are similar ....I will watch them all forever in re runs.....With " Yellowstone" a I seriously need an " Intervention".... lol
The last season and a half of Yellowstone is f'n terrible. They took what made it good (Rip, some crime, revenge, etc) and threw it out the window for a bunch of boring politics and Costner flirting with a dumbass lefty.
Can't even lie.. I ugly cried nearly the whole episode.. and I rarely cry about anything..... ☹

@@tommurphy4307 Yeah.. usually if I'm going to cry at something, its usually only about real things. In retrospect, I think it was just a little too close too home that I wasn't there when my own farther passed, and the scenes they kept replaying of all the different ways he could have said goodbye, but didn't.. just got me in the feelz
@@eldar9412 same here. I don't cry easily but I also cried in this episode especially on Mary's speech. Aside from the story, I think it's the acting because even though we know this is just a show, their acting made everything feel real.
@@ASDF-lw9sm I'm the exact same, it takes a lot to make me tear up but I was quietly bawling the whole way through. George was a wonderful dad, and we've been watching him for near a decade now.
His death while easily predictable as the ending for this series, didn't make it hurt any less. Especially with how it wasn't even the finale, making it so much more shocking that his last scene wasn't any fanfare. It was the solid realism and the way they dealt with their grief that had me crying.
George got shot by Raylan on Justified.
Lance Barber was also on Californication and Faking it on MTV.
I don't think I could have gotten into the casket like Lance did; kudos on totally committing to the process from start to literal finish.
It was likely a dummy with a mask made from Lance.
The actor wasn’t playing George anymore, it just solidified that although he’s not gone. George is.
Way to try to make it deeper than it actually was.

Oh, common! That scant little shot of Georgina would be hard to see without a giant hi-rez telly screen! But I am glad Barber was there in the pews and the casket. I figured that was him. Fake corpses are good but not that good. And I LOVED Dr Salzburg's cameo. It was a fitting way to end the series and point to BBT and of course, the star, SCIENCE itself! Thank you!
There are a number of behind the scenes pictures, such as Lance being helped into the casket, and Raegan Revord (Missy) laughing as she looks down at him in it.
i guess nobody thought of using a bottomless casket- genius.

I loved Young Sheldon,everyone was excellent in their character. I loved Mary, the perfect southern Baptist mom. I will miss everyone so much but still have Georgy, Mandy and CeCe.
If she was the perfect Southern Baptist mom she should know that getting baptized alone doesn't save the soul. Accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and savior does.
Yes like with Sheldon specifically, he had the same exact mindset after as before. Let's see him complain about not having access and control over a thermostat if he ends up down in Hell.........

I always predicted that Young Sheldon would end with George passing away, seeing him I always had scary thoughts that his next move could be his last, the final season announcement brought those thoughts back but I didn't want it to be true
If you watched The Big Bang Theory you would know he was going to die and when. Sheldon mentioned it frequently.

Glad it not only ended well, but that Lance Barber was there! Pretty amazing that he got so emotional that he couldn't pull off any pranks. It was a great show. But the time came for the end.
Hoping Chuck Lorre has more great shows before he gives it all up - not much quality TV anymore, especially for families.

Hard to retcon that into the BBT universe though. Surely it would have come up in one of Sheldon's remembrances, or episodes with family.

I thought it was odd that a current football coach wouldn’t have his team attend the funeral.
He was also a soldier during the Cold War and Vietnam War yet there wasn't a U.S. flag on his casket. Just so many missed opportunities.

i thought i’d add something that I’ve noticed about, when the young Sheldon characters are riding on the road in their car or in the truck, there’s always in the background behind them traveling a truck always a truck the same truck the same scene behind them in all episodes. Did y’all catch that?
maybe they got their truck in a deal with ford dealers and they have to show another ford behind them on the road. you never know what gets written into an endorsement deal.
If it is true that When they show Sheldon and Amy in the present day and they refer to Lenard as dead, I’m DONE with the whole series, spinoffs and all! When Jim Parsons wanted out of TBBT (to make movies and Broadway shows) and the rest of the cast wanted to keep going they bent to his will, and and agreed to not to do another season. He should not get to call the shots as to any of TBBT spinoff or any of the storylines!
They didn't show Penny, Raf or Bernedett and Howard. Are they all dead too? Of course Amy was in the scene, she's his wife. This whole conspiracy thing is dumb.
Im surprised it lasted one season. Everyone was hateful towards each other. It felt like they were only friends because nobody else wanted to be around them longer than five minutes at a time.
So, with the show ending with George passing away it makes me wonder, was the show actually about Sheldon? Or George?
Still about Sheldon, regardless… his father dying was the end of one chapter of his life, before starting his next chapter of his life on TBBT.

She would have been in the front as a family member, but it would make sense she could be a twin too. Perhaps there was a falling out and she didn't want to be seen.
The plot point that everyone missed was that George was gorgiena in the background and that's George's head in the casket

I just want to take this moment to point out that George was the better father. Barely an episode went by that Mary didn't annoy the crap out of me with her blatant hypocrisy and judgment. George, Georgie, Missy, and Meemaw made the show.
How was George's death unexpected? We knew he was dead when the series began. It is about time the writers followed the cannon of The Big Bang Theroy.
Unexpected from the point of view of the characters in the story.
Even at the start of young Sheldon we knew it would eventually lead to the Father George's death.

I enjoyed this show even if the had some issues. For example, the way Baptist are presented in this show is not accurate. But, overall it was a fun show. I loved how Sheldon’s siblings evolved as the show progressed.
For East Texas Baptists, it is very accurate.
@@IrishBlue830 - I do not know any Baptist that believe baptism saves people, including those from East Texas. Baptism of infants is not practiced by Baptist. In the show Mary Cooper had her infant grand child baptized by the pastor. This is an example of errors in the show. . .
Id definitely agree with you. Baptism definitely is not what would save a person. Mary trying to "force" her two youngest kids to get baptized in water isn't what would save them from an eternity in Hell. They'd have to actually sincerely accept what was done on the cross for them and Jesus rising on the third day. After all Sheldon had the same mindset after getting dunked in water as he did before.

For me the biggest plot hole for the ending is with Tam. Tam was put on Sheldon’s enemy list for not moving to Cali with him, on TBBT. Especially since presumably Tam was only 14, (given Sheldon was 14 when his dad died)
But either way, it was never mentioned to Tam.
What is that even supposed to mean? In tbbt, Tam had no idea.
I was hoping for a better ending. Meemaw's speech was jarring. Too bad. I really liked George, but knew he died young.
if you watched/paid attention to TBBT- you would have known ahead of time.

I thought, it was aunt Ruth, George's sister with scratchy beard , kids complained of.
On the show the family were Baptists. Baptists funerals are genuinely not black, somber and remorseful. Most people do not wear black and the sentiment is more of a pleasant "happy to be going home" thing.
Georgiana sure looks lihe like Amy Schneider of jeapardy fame.

Why couldn't they find a different person to play "Georgina" to make it more of a realistic funeral scene? George is dead and he is supposed to be off screen. But they choose him just to "pay tribute?" What a blown ending. 🤦
a vet can choose to have them or not to have them.
pretty hard to do when someone dies suddenly/unexpectedly. the family usually makes that decision because it is assumed they knew what their loved one wanted...
