This is very inspiring. I work in a call center here in the Philippines for almost 5 years now. Back then when I just started taking calls servicing customers based in the US, I used to get questions like where are you located, I don't understand what you're saying etc. But that's not the case now because most of my customers are wondering how I sound like a native speaker knowing that I've been doing this for only 5 years and it really is nice to hear. Having watched this video makes me want to continue what im doing to sound more like an American. Thumbs up!
I am hispanic and I'm currently working at a assisted living place ( elderly care) My assignment is in the memory care area. The good thing is that I've been learning pretty much English through people with Alzheimer's dementia. They have been able to realize my learning process. They always say to me, girl Don't give up! Even though your are not a native speaker, It is amazing the way you are pronouncing the most difficult sounds such as: R, L, short vowels and some consonants ( tʃ, ð, ŋ, ʒ, θ, ʃ and so on) as much practice you get as much you get better. They always say.
I do all this but need to practice every day! English is my fifth language and I'm self taught! The only thing I thought that an adult will never learn perfectly other languages' pronunciation but after watching this, I get hope! By the way Greek people have more difficulties to learn other languages than other nationalities,,talking about pronunciation! This young lady did a very good job! 👍👍

First thing first, u have to find a good good teacher who speaks accurate native English. Just like u must find the right tool before u start ur job. I started my accent reduction journey a couple of years ago by listening to an audio package I purchased from AccurateEnglish. I listened to the audios whenever I was available n I would repeat what i heard n imitatie the sounds while listening. It really helps. Once u find the right tool, all u have to do is practicing. Remember practice makes perfect n there're no shorts to accent reduction. Just my personal experience.
Yes, I agree with her since I have been studying English with online methodology. And I know that is very important to practice each English skill every day in order to get confidence when a person want to talk with English speakers. Listen to audio over and over not matter if you don't understand enything, since your brain needs to process the new information. The more important thing is the discipline, to practice by your selft as well and keeping in mind her pieces of advice. :)
What is your take on the so-called shadowing tecnique (listening and repeating at the same time). Is it helpfull or detrimental to our accent or native-like pronuntiation?

I`ve been living in an English spoken country for 6 years now. At the beginning, it was pretty hard, and many times I wanted to quit and went back to my country. Now, finally, pushed by the circumstances, I can speak it fluently, however, my accent is tick, and sometimes it makes difficult my communication, since people have a hard time to understand what I say. By coincidence, I stumbled into this channel, and voilà, it`s just what i was looking for some time now. I`d like to be a Paralegal (or Lawyer, one day), and I need to minimize my Spanish accent to -1. Thankfully, I have the key ingredients: passion, motivation and a desired professional goal. I will keep going until I get it. The only inconvenience is that I tend to speak at fast pace, negative issue that needs to be sacrificed in favor of accuracy and good pronunciation. I found this motivational phrase into a Robin Sharma`s book: “The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle.”
