I'm going to do all the exercises, one day at a time. I'm SO tired of not being able to walk right and falling!!! Thank you Dr. Gretchen ❤
You're very welcome! You got this!!
Thank you
I like the idea of bending my leg back and bringing my leg forward except I have lower back pain so starting today I’m doing the toe lifts and using the Cain to do calf stretch, I hope that with my brain telling my body to lift and step I can stop walking with a locked leg.
I've had MS since 2001, never thought about any of this until 2022, i had a series of strokes and it's been quite a battle to walk again
I hope that this helps🧡
@@DoctorGretchenHawley yes it has helped me very much. Thank you.
Thank you Dr
thanks for everything, can i ask if is useful for numbness on the fingers of my foot? again 🙏 a lot!
I am 22 years old, and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in April 2021 it started off with tingling us in my hands and feet and then balance and then the more I started to move the weaker I got my question is How come I only get foot drop when I get active ? , the more I move & my heart rates goes up The weaker my ankle gets . I can walk around the house slowly normally, I recently took a trip to Six Flags in from the parking lot all the way to the park I was already with drop foot and had to stop.
I have exactly the same issue
Hey. Been diagnosed with ms for the past 13 years from the age of 15. For me, I have to listen to my body. Like when I get hotter or anxious or nervous, stuff go shaking and balance is struggling. As you go forward, with the help of your doctors, physical therapists and most importantly, yourself, you'll figure out what helps and what not. Keep positive, head up and keep working on it, on your own pace. Wish you the best.
With MS, when the body gets hot the symptoms get worse. That doesn’t mean the disease is progressing faster though.
My problem is that I cannot get that twenty degrees of bend in my knee. As well, I am not able to raise my knee up as in marching. (I think that has to do with hip flexors.) Therefore, I can not get the foot clear of the ground. Do you have any suggestions? I do wear an AFO.
Great question - I have a podcast episode that I think will help answer your question. You can check it out here: open.spotify.com/episode/6Ql9DdpGlJ1VuyuHhPeM6P?si=308c86c6d00543dc

had a stroke and have foot grop/also having trouble lifting my left legy
Does foot drop usually affect one side only or both sides?
One
It can be one or both sides!
With fatigue it is very difficult to do the bending knee exercise
That's completely understandable, and very common. Just try your best, and remember that any movement with good quality is strengthening your muscles and neural pathway.
That hound is out of it.
Most of this isnt doable for us with foot drop
That's ok! There are some other stretches and exercises that may need to be done first in order to get to this point. I have posted these on my page as well☺️
Thank You
