I am on a no buy for a whole year for some of these reasons. I have a lovely medium sized collection and on the verge of too much for me. It's just too wasteful to me to continue purchasing without getting some very good uses out of my collection.

Please make this into a series for those of us who have been buying makeup for years and have got to the point where we have no more room for anything else makeup related !
Flipping love this video. Re-visiting what we already have and falling in love with products again is fabulous. You speak so much sense about constantly looking for the next best thing. I have taken so much positivity from your video today that I'm going to use what I have and not look/spend money on seeking something better when I already have amazing product. Great makeup look. Love the idea of using your old favorites again. We get so caught up with all the new items we get, that we forget about the best products in our collection. I definitely need to revisit some of my old favorites and fall back in love with them.

As I was browsing the Sephora website the other day I would see a blush, bronzer, etc. and say ooh I want that. Then my other brain (lol) said No, you have something like that, you don’t need that. So thank you Charlotte for this video and reminder that my other brain is the one to listen to! ❤
I just used my Dior Backstage 9 pan pallet Cool Neutrals, I bought her in 2020. I always feel so pretty every time I use and it is my favorite pallet. It is so easy to apply and so easy to blend. She is my favorite pallet of all time and I have around 40 of them.
Expiry dates mean nothing to me. I only throw away makeup if it smells or I’m just done with it taking up space. Still have things from 2011. I know, I know, but considering how slowly I go through certain things, I think of them as investments purchases and I’m not letting go because of a date stamp unless I absolutely have to. 😂
@@catnip4587 Yes. I just never worry about powders. Obviously creams and liquids are different but when they do go off it’s not a hard decision to toss.
I think if you are that fickle with how regularly your “holy grails” are replaced then maybe there is no holy grail, just “current faves”😂 In the words of Paula Begoun: there is not a single best, just a great many. Our belief that there is better out there is what keeps us buying more 😅

I agree. Estée double wear is just too thick for my taste now and I prefer glower foundations with a bit less coverage. Now I want to. Heck out this NARS one you mentioned!
Sorry in advance to tempt you………Just reading your foundation choices, I think you’d really like the new Gucci beaute eternite, if you can find a good colour match. It can be as full coverage as Dw and as sheer as a tinted moisturiser and looks amazingly like beautiful hydrated skin, it’s undetectable. I sampled and a tiny dot did my whole face to medium coverage, my teen sole my sample and has the driest flakey skin and it was beautiful on them too.

Crikey, I've got palettes I haven't used yet, including PM, Suqqu, Dior etc. Foundations I haven't yet swatched. In fact, I have completely untouched products from every single category 🙈. Yes to using items sensibly and also being sensible about use by dates. If it smells ok and looks ok, and performs ok, esp when it’s powders, it will be fine
Once a week I pull out a few older things (two lip, one palette, one cheek) and have rule to use them as much as possible in that week, that way I’m always reminding myself that the oldies are there.
Having recently redone my makeup closet I was totally blown away by all the beautiful makeup I had..I decided to give them their own cubby in the drawers so I never forget them again..and I realized what amazing products I have and truly can take a break from purchasing !!! Although I probably wont 😬

Today, I am embarrassed to admit that I own an OBSCENE amount of makeup, and have literally run out of room to add more. I love love love Lancôme Teint Miracle foundation, but nobody speaks about it on UA-cam. It’s such a gorgeous foundation that is sadly forgotten or missed by people.
Lovely video! HolyGrails should be in regular rotation and not to be pushed away by current favs! That's what I do as I'm a normal person, not a UA-camr. Changing my makeup to new rotation. And decluttering as I go as well. Rarely something new is coming as I was overbuying in the past and still have too much makeup which would be completely wasted if Im not in a control of myself and buying and what I already have.

I have never experienced powdery product go bad. They can hard pan, or broke but that's probably it. I have some from my teenage years, they pretty old now (I have grown up children), but they are still ok. I don't use them, (I now have better shades for my coloring) I kept them for nostalgic reasons, but if I want, I can.
You have inspired me to take inventory and make sure I use the gems that are lingering in the back of those drawers. Your look here is beautiful as we start to move into warmer weather. Great choices 🤩 earlier this week I rediscovered my haus labs foundation after coming to the sad conclusion that my beloved hourglass ambient soft glow really does oxidize on me with in a few hours of wear and with my very fair skin tone it is fairly obvious that it turns orange on m, so I pulled out the haus labs foundation that I bought around the same time last summer that I bought the hourglass because I wanted to test out both and since I've been using the haus labs foundation this week I am absolutely head over heals in live with it especially with the hourglass vanish airbrush primer
I loved the Pat McGrath concealer too, after you recommended on. But now lots of other ones have came out so am loving the urban decay and huda luminous matte ones. I never throw away palettes either, they seem to last well for years

I have a very very edited makeup collection (I would not even call it a collection) since I discover that I de-clutter and trashed a lot of products that were NEW untouched. Now, I keep it to a minimum .... but just like you Charlotte i like complexion products and lip products LOL

I use it instead of a base product nowadays (just dotted around where I need it and blended out) and that shade just blends right into my skin, it’s almost identical, so now I know how much lighter in tone I am compared to you….which is really useful when looking at shades of items that you review! I was colour matched in selfridges for it a few years back but it was summer and I had a fair bit of colour. I am planning to get lm6 now for under eyes / brightening purposes to complete the look.

A Dior quint puts expiry date at 6 months!!! WTH?! No more of that for me! Should say 24 at least

Weird question, but with your Pat Mothership palettes, did you keep the packaging? I'm tossing up whether to throw mine out. They are just so hard to store and the string is annoying to do. I feel like I'd use the palettes more if it wasn't so much faff BUT I reckon I'd then regret chucking them...
My lashes are not as great as yours, but they are very decent and they curl upwards. The Benefit Roller Lash is the only mascara that ever made my lashes drop down. My lashes look great after applying it, and within the hour I can't see my lashes because they fell down. No other mascara has ever done that to my lashes. Too bad, because it looked great at first application. But it's a no for me. Loved this video!

Yep and the manufacturer has the nerve to put a 6 month expire date on the back!! Sad, isn’t it?!

I use the Pat Mcgrath concealer i really like it especially for more mature skin. I need to check out the cool cucumber Dior bronzer! Is it also working for fair skin?

Weird question, but with your Pat Mothership palettes, did you keep the packaging? I'm tossing up whether to throw mine out. They are just so hard to store and the string is annoying to do. I feel like I'd use the palettes more if it wasn't so much faff BUT I reckon I'd then regret chucking them...
If you have more than one don't do it! It's impossible to tell them apart in a hurry!

My lashes are not as great as yours, but they are very decent and they curl upwards. The Benefit Roller Lash is the only mascara that ever made my lashes drop down. My lashes look great after applying it, and within the hour I can't see my lashes because they fell down. No other mascara has ever done that to my lashes. Too bad, because it looked great at first application. But it's a no for me.
