@stephenrichmond917 isn't she beautiful 😍 have you noticed she never looks up at the audience, but still held her confidence, loved Donna, and thank you for replying ❤️
CHILLLSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. So poignant, Donna's daughter opening up the song, then singing with her mom, with such power!!. AND then the rest of the fam comes out. Rest in peace Donna Summer, at home with the Lord. Your going home took a piece, of so many of us, with you. Thank you for showing me what true greatness looked like.
Was that some of her family? She does thank daughter Mimi and her nephews & neices in the closing credits. I thought the folk at the end was her band and the acts (e.g.Musical Youth) who'd played on the set-list that night?
@@durtyragoux cheers bud! I was just a bit curious... but not enough to re-watch the end credits again. Fun fact: Quincy Jones produced the released version of this and the choir was made up of an all-star cast including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Lionel Richie. And notice that synth bass arpeggio right from the start. Slow it down and you have "Billie Jean". Confirmed: Vangelis wrote the groove for one of MJ's most iconic hits.

Thank god, I am part of a generation that can fondly reflect and enjoy Donna Summer's trademark 70s hits. Clearly a defined elegant diva in a class of her own. Along with Diana Ross. She defined elegance that seems to be missing in today's music culture. This HBO special, I remember my family crowding around the TV to see Donna Summer. Thanks for the upload, reminded of fond memories, 70s and 80s.
Love how she interjected Bible verse John 3:16 in there!! Eternal life in heaven is only gained through Jesus Christ, and true world peace will only be achieved at his second coming.

A very nice cover of Jon Anderson's song he wrote with Vangelis. She takes some poetic license by adding scripture but considering Jon created the lyrics on the spot as he was singing the spiritual origins are pretty clear. Checkout Todmobile's version with Jon Anderson himself singing.
I cannot think of one performer today that has even 1/10 th of Donna Summer's talent. She never misses a note she is pure perfection. With auto tune and all the technology in the music industry who would even know who can sing like her. It is effortless. God bless you Donna & your beautiful family. I recently heard an interview with her husband Bruce & he spoke so lovingly about her. He said he is finally at the point he wants to talk about her & share her with her fans. It took 2 years to get to this point.
I first heard this song when I was nine. Dad had bought a VCR and his workmate gave him this concert on VHS. It was one fun show. We sang and danced to along. Then this song played and I just burst into tears. My sister and Mum thought it was the weirdest thing. I couldn't articulate what it was then. Now I can. It was the only way my young mind and soul could react to a work of such beauty. It was visceral and divine. Thank you Lord for blessing us with Donna Summer. Dang, I'm crying again.
Follow up: 3 Incredible things about this video, my feelings: 1. Donna - chose this well written song to highlight her talents and those of her family. That said, Donna could do any style effortlessly. This selection showcased her ability to sing above all others. Similar theme to sharing the stage with Kenny Rodgers with "I feel love" - I am so glad IFL is immortal for her. As it should be. 2. If you are not familiar with Donna Summer - shortly after the 3 minute mark of this video (and for several minutes thereafter) you are getting blown out of the stadium by this woman's ability to sing. 3. Most human beings recognize at times, what other humans are feeling by their gestures. To my astonishment and marginal dismay. Donna was reeling this unstoppable stuff off, like it was child's play. Forgive me - I don't see pure genius that often.
4:40 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3-16) Reasuring words. Donna, you are now where you belong. Thanks for sharing your talent. God bless.
