@@edwindude9893 we had some pretty good snipers when I was in during Desert Shield/Storm. We just weren't glory hounds and didn't have UA-cam and all this social media stuff to grow up with.
In the British navy to get a Marksmans badge you only had to get more than 35/40 if I remember correctly 300m those targets that look like a ww2 era marine running at you 😂 we had SA80 rifles with open sights!! Garbage they were 😂 not many hit that badge.
Now with my .308 I could chose an eye on that target, talk about loaded against us excuse the pun
@@X737_ In the U.S. Army in 1989 we had to hit a variety of targets between 50 yards and 300 yards totaling 40 targets with open sights on a "rattle trap" M-16. (Those pieces of crap would trigger if you bumped them just a little to hard.) In my Basic Training we had our go in the dead of winter at about -15°F I got 39/40 and got the Expert badge (I missed one of the 50 yard targets because I was shivering so hard and relaxed because I knew I could hit it. The shiver made me hit just below the target, in the dirt.) But I hit all the long range targets. Only one other recruit hit any of the 300 yard targets that day. (Out of about 150 recruits testing that day.) It was a miserable day to be at the range.
Edit: BTW, if memory serves, our Marksmanship badges were similar scores (out of 40)... 35-36 Marksman,
37-38 Sharpshooter,
39-40 Expert Marksman

Gunworks does put together some pretty sweet setups. Not just build the rifle, but the load development and everything. You can build top of the line rifles for less, but you won’t find a more thorough company with next level customer service. Love your channel Rob! Gunwerks is the biggest waste of money imaginable. Meant for rich lawyer types who can't put in the time for developing their skills. You could build a better rifle for 9k less.
Its like the Ford Raptor. You can get the same or better performance for cheaper. But for the people who can afford an out of the box mile tuned gun and want a custom built to the shooter rifle its a good option. Same reason people used to buy custom 4 bore rifles. Its status and beauty all wrapped around a soft gooey center of convenience.
That sounds like a 14k jealous comment, but maybe that’s just me.
@@EastTexasPatriot I have several high dollar custom bolt actions that are equivalent or better in quality but okay. Like, they give you a shitty Leupold Mk5 when you're spending 14k, it's laughable. For that kind of money you should be getting Schmidt & Bender or Tangent Theta. You're paying 9k extra guy to do load development and gather dope for you.

The fair comparison would be paying the extra to have a guy drive the Raptor for you because the only thing Gunwerks offers over any other custom rifle is that they gather DOPE and do load development for you. MOARifles offers the same kinda package deals for 4-5k less as an example.
I totally agree with MrMalicious on all his points. I used to shoot in the Precision Rifle Serious and no one runs a Leupold scope because they suck! There are at least 6 scope brands that are better then Leupold. Lots of guns can shoot accurately to a mile. There are so many things that make me cringe when I watch this guy shoot and try to get on target. Anybody that calls themselves a sniper should not have that much trouble hitting a full size torso target. He should be stacking them in a 5 inch group or smaller.

It’s all about barrel break in with Proof Research barrels. 10-15 shot strings aren’t going to adversely affect it if you do a proper break in and allow the rifle to cool for 5-10 minutes between strings of fire.

Rob, I think EVERYONE that shoots rifles needs to pay VERY close attention after 21 minutes.....Watch your trigger discipline.....VERY GOOD!!!!! You pin that trigger to the back wall until you see the round impact! VERY good technique!!!! Yes, I know you are very trained and experienced, but normal people need to take note of how you manage your trigger...KUDOS to you for maintaining that level of trigger discipline this far removed from your deployment. An outboard with a jet lower unit loses roughly 30% of its rated horsepower. A 60/40 would mean its a 60 hp motor if it were using a standard prop lower. But since its equipped with a jet lower its now effectively a 40 hp motor. Outboard hp ratings are taken at the prop shaft since around 1985. People like to advertise the 60/40, 115/80, 50/35 etc. to let you know what powerhead the motor actually has.
The average human can shoot 1000yrds all day with fancy guns and ammo. But a superhuman can shoot 1000yrds with a $350 walmart gun and upgraded scope all day long.
We used a PS90 like that on a helihog hunt in Texas, it actually did better than the ARs 😳🤯
