Urge Overkill "Ticket To L.A." - Bohemia Afterdark

- Few bands ever lusted after rock stardom quite as blatantly as Chicago's Urge Overkill. Although they draped their quest for stardom in a cloak of ironic detachment, it's quite clear the trio expected that if they acted like stars, they would become stars.

A band or individual doesn't have to be a popular, world renowned success to be a "star". Urge Overkill are stars in the eyes of their devoted fans and in their own hearts.
Thank you for this great post! I have never seen this video.
I have been a UO fanatic since I was a teenager in Chicagoland. I bought The Supersonic Storybook the month it was released and I haven't looked back! Their live shows are unbeatable. It is my greatest wish to see a new LP and tour.
I love you UO!
“My favorite Chicago band of all time along with Cheap Trick. The average Joe Schmuck hears the name ‘Urge Overkill’ and immediately thinks "Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon". They think of the kitsch leisure suits, the medallions, the Pulp Fiction soundtrack & Top 40 hit and abrupt fall. But, If those people had been there in the beginning! Chicago, during the Touch and Go era, my holy god! Magic, mystique, danger, high octane fuzz & frivolity! Being a fanatic from the start and being so deeply in love with them, I can pardon just about anything they have done or will do. At the The Kennedy Center Honors in 2012 while Led Zeppelin were being honoured if it were up to me I would’ve bestowed a medal on UO as well”

one of the standout bands of the early nineties ; a great track!
one of the most underestimated bands ever
I need this album...
Awesome rock from a great band. Viva La UO.
One of my favorite bands of all time.... I had an original VHS copy of this video... note that the recording says " cmon' Jaguar" at the end... he was the drummer during the recording of this song but Blackie Onasis is the drummer featured in the video.....
Im glad someone noticed this fact! I was just out of high school!
They were definitely acting like stars to become stars. It worked better for Bowie. These guys were wrong time, wrong place, unfortunately. In retrospect one of the best bands of the 90's.
Agreed absoiutely!!
for Johnny Rowan it was. Eddie & Nathan are still keeping the faith.
1) Denial and Isolation 2) Anger 3) Bargaining 4) Depression 5) Acceptance .
could you possibly make the the video more unwatchable?
Thanks for posting this, but I honestly don't get your comments. Saw them many times and they absolutely kicked it and should have made it huge. What's wrong with that? You make it sound like they were some sort of derivative label project. Not so my friend. Not so.
Still...?
Fookin A..
No, I don't actually. They were a great band but in the wrong era to have the commercial success they went after. How is that complicated?
