- One Cast. One Bass. Potential $100,000 fish and payday. Big field of 2000-3000+ anglers, but the REAL draw here is taking on the challenges brought on by the conditions, the odds against a monster sized field, fishing a new body of water blind, and sharing the experience with friends.
Driving through Missouri from Chicago on the way home to California, Kevin Brightwell of KGB swimbaits told me about the Big Bass Bash event at Lake of the Ozarks, October 6 & 7, 2018. Decided to make a little detour to fish the event and invited Westin Yancey of Modern Outdoor Media to come fish and help me film the event so we could focus on executing the plan to catch the biggest fish of the weekend.
It's difficult to tell the entire story with all the different challenges but this video edited by our friends from @Featherwick gets some solid points across. Being focused on the task at hand, the fishing itself and HAVING FUN with friends is what this piece SHOULD be about. Hopefully that resonates. I wanted to capture a special weekend with my friend Westin. Hopefully this video can serve as a reminder of fishing for the fundamental reason we all started, to have FUN. James, the fish bled more than any other fish we'd ever caught. People are super sensitive about blood so we didn't want to show her GUSHING it out of her chin :) Westin lost his mind a little too but don't worry there was no way that fish was shaking loose of the grip.

Nice job Man! I was there on Ozarks practicing for the Costa the Following weekend. Heard about the "Dude throwing big swimbaits" . Crazy boat traffic and weather conditions for sure . Will be there again next year for the Costa . Again , nice job and way to hang with it all day!!

No mapping, wrong chip for this lake. Had to rely on gut which is built on experience. Never been to this lake before.

That was dope, big congrats for the win!! Swimbait fishing can be tough as it isn't exactly the most productive form of fishing out there at least in terms of bites. But, you put your foot down and just kept pounding it. It takes a lot to discipline to do that and you got rewarded for it big time!!
