Daniel Sadownick on percussion & Gene Lake drumming, Torsos are at Knitting Factory, NYC in 1996, they played again as original layout only for 2nd album tour
...and with Steve Coleman as a member of the Five Elements from" The Tao of Mad Phat"(1993,my fav) to "Genesis& the opening way"(1997) I've seen him live with Me'shell back in 96 in Paris,he's a terrific musician... 8)
the singing around 1:17 and again at 2:50 .....that shite was sweet! i can't think of any other instance of anyone singing anywhere close to something like that....I didn't even know you could do that! Learn how! Amazing your friends!
@wailflower: that was an engineering decision, keep in mind, this was not just a gig, but a live recording and as far as i recall, the engineers wanted it that way for sound reasons.
Everywhere you can find Torsos video excerpts from two locations: NY 1996 (like this Vinnie) and Paris 2004. Does exist 2 official DVD published,, also if rare to find. If you wanna buy them try on the official website (also Fiuczinski has got one of his own) .-)
this band needs a wikipedia! anyone with good knowledge of them outta get on that! i know nothing about these guys except that they are teh SHEET the singing at 1:18 - I have never heard ANYTHING like that. this band is so cool
@dfiuczynski Does anyone notice there is a percussionist between the singer and the bass player? I only noticed it earlier this year watching on youtube. And good. You still got jokes.
@Wailflower (aka Dean Bowman): Daniel Sadownick is one of the finest percussionists out there. But for some reason Dean Bowman thinks his opinion outranks all the many great musicians that Mr Sadownick has worked with: The Roots, Al Green, Dennis Chambers, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Michael Brecker, Ron Carter and many more. 'nuff said.
I'm guessing that you're referring to the voice of Tommy the Cat from the song "Tommy the Cat" by Primus - which is in fact sung by Tom Waits, not Les Claypool :)
@dfiuczynski Luze, you know i am not angry about a soft bully (you) or your pet percussionist. And BTW, if I agree with you, would that make you a nicer person?
@wailflower (aka Dean Bowman) part 1. don't get mad, Dean. you brought this on yourself with your petty and baseless accusations. I'm glad this is a public discussion. Now everyone can see the real facts. fact 1: you don't respond to reason. fact 2: the Live CD sounds great, in part because of the set up. fact 3: why should i pass the buck for something that sounds great. I wish i could take credit for the set up, but i would never have come up with it myself.
@wailflower (aka Dean Bowman).....sorry Dean, won't let you off the hook...you can try and dream up all the lame excuses you want to so you can complain.....you've got nothing. the record sounds great, let it go.
Fuze sits by himself on one side of the stage, and the rest crowd on the other side, the percussionist right where the bass player should be (why don't they switch?) and the singer can barely hear himself. There's plenty of room on stage.
Brother, I am so sorry you feel that way. Wow. Can't even poke fun at a friend without someone you don't even know calling themselves out of their own bigotry. Please don't respond to me ever again without an apology for insulting nine-tenths of the population of the world.
Still in love with this track, after too many years.
Mitici!...che figata!! possibile che qui in Italia circoli così poco questo genere fantastico!

This is so good I had to kick the good furniture
A performance where no one has the leading roll. You just don't know who you prefer to look at.

one of the more massive percussion sets I've seen
...and with Steve Coleman as a member of the Five Elements from" The Tao of Mad Phat"(1993,my fav) to "Genesis& the opening way"(1997) I've seen him live with Me'shell back in 96 in Paris,he's a terrific musician... 8)

@wailflower: that was an engineering decision, keep in mind, this was not just a gig, but a live recording and as far as i recall, the engineers wanted it that way for sound reasons.
Excelent!
I love this band! great music
So great!
true, a videoclip for Vinnie was really made, but it is very very rare to find, also on peer to peer.
i have a low quality fragment of it.

I've always loved this singer...that falsetto thing he does (I don't even know how to describe it) is so fucking interesting
+manifestgtr Operatic yodelling?
Screaming Headless Torsos 1996. This is Fuze on guitar, myself on vocals, Gene Lake on drums, Fima Ephrom on bass (where is he?), and Danny Sadownick.

@dfiuczynski Does anyone notice there is a percussionist between the singer and the bass player? I only noticed it earlier this year watching on youtube. And good. You still got jokes.
Sure is, although he's been playing Campbell American Precix more recently.
I'm a metalhead too, but this really is great stuff.
He uses a SoundTech Whammy II pedal. Shame they don´t build it anymore.
@dfiuczynski The record is exactly why for sound reasons it's probably not better for the singer to sing with two drummers behind him.
gene lake totally insane
JOJO IS THE MASTER BUT THE REAL GENE IS GENE HOGLAN MAN!!!
Miss Mayer

good stuff. when did they do this performance?

not sure but check back
@StevenAteYourDogs Lol what? That's like the slimmest genre of music ever.
WU TANG!
you still sell those hot pick t shirts? i remember seeing those of a website.
probably because the stage was not so large .... Fuze is sad as Fripp facial expression seems happy: could you ever say that? what is the problem
Looks like the singer just finished his shift at the Foot Locker. lol
Do you pray? Losing is a habit that can be broken
L O L ! ! !
@dfiuczynski But since you are here, why did you put a percussionist between the singer and the bass player?
@pepefloydean Fuze plays a Tom Anderson guitar in this clip
ptin ca groove to you .-)))
lobop18 estoy de acuerdo contigo , esta banda es una especie de Fishbone ,los conoces ? .
I'm guessing that you're referring to the voice of Tommy the Cat from the song "Tommy the Cat" by Primus - which is in fact sung by Tom Waits, not Les Claypool :)
wow-moment @ 0:54 !
Screaming ...
People who honestly dislike this just don't get it. Wow. These guys are brilliant.

Prueba con el album All-Scars de Cloroform.
Funny

You were right the first time. Wrong about who's dumb, dude.
Camera man got bassitophobia
@wailflower (aka Dean Bowman).....sorry Dean, won't let you off the hook...you can try and dream up all the lame excuses you want to so you can complain.....you've got nothing. the record sounds great, let it go.
or as the late zappa said; SHUT UP AND PLAY THAT GUITAR!
Who is the Drummer ?
@dfiuczynski Luze, you are welcome to the last word.
microphone model at 0:58?
why can't I comment on my own work?
Fuze sits by himself on one side of the stage, and the rest crowd on the other side, the percussionist right where the bass player should be (why don't they switch?) and the singer can barely hear himself. There's plenty of room on stage.

WHO IS THAT DRUMMER ????
