    So I can shut off the hot water to my kids when they take super long showers, brilliant lol

    How accurate is the available hot water percentage? I don't actually care about the smart energy saving stuff, but am very interested in knowing how much hot water is left.

    Hi, I got one of these recently but for an electric heater, but I am having issues getting it to connect with my wifi. The only thing I find online is press the reset button, but I can't find any button other than mode and holding that down. The unit makes a sound but doesn't go into any pairing mode. I tried contacting support but got no answer. I was hoping you could help?

    Will the sensor read properly when placed against a pvc pipe VS copper or brass pipe line?

      I would think so yes. As long as you can feel the temperature on the line it should work.

    Would have been nice to see setup. Was the Honeywell unit come with the water heater or Aquanta?

    Ordered one. Had to pay additional 40.00 in import duty. Box had been previously opened and now not sure if I even received a new item. Sketchy. Will post after hooked up but not impressed so far.

      Humm... Mine still running and functioning well. But I understand your concerns. It may be worth reaching out to them and letting them know and possibly having them send you a new one.

    Any updates. Are you still using this device

    • @smidgelife
      @smidgelife  3 дні тому +1

      Yes I'm still using the device and it works well. The only thing I notice is during summer time when the garage gets warm, that's where the water heater is,... It thinks the water is warmer than it really is so it doesn't heat it as much but it is summertime so it's not a huge pain just something to be aware of. It would be nice if it considered your ambient temperature of the garage and did some math to figure out the temperature better.

      @@smidgelifethanks for the video and the reply. I would like to get one for my house so that during power outages, I can better control the hot water heater when on the generator power.

    Hi there!
    Question, Do you have to pay any type of subscription for the service?

    • @smidgelife
      @smidgelife  2 роки тому +2

      No nothing at all there's not even an option for a subscription so you're in the clear.
      I've had it for quite a while and it actually works very well. It is difficult to tell truly how much you're saving but you can see it working so you know you're saving.

    Hi. Any value to use this with a hybrid water heater?

    • @smidgelife
      @smidgelife  2 роки тому

      Could you please elaborate on what you mean by hybrid water heater? Possibly... Does it have a computer port access?
      Because essentially it'll automatically lower the heat when you're not using it.

    They are using 445 calendar so each quarter will have two 4 week months and one 5 week month. This allows you to compare individual year over year weeks.

      It works well. It's difficult to really know 100% the true savings. But, it must be based on the logic. I'll post a screenshot in my community area now. Let me know.

    • @Jb008
      @Jb008 3 роки тому

      Also, how have you wired the circ. Pump? I see it’s on a smart switch. Is there some sort of logic that interacts between the aquanta and the pump or do you have it on a basic timer? The options for integrating the aquanta seem slim IFTT being the only one to my knowledge.

    • @smidgelife
      @smidgelife  3 роки тому

      I have Google home managing the smart switch for the water pump. That's obviously a big savings too. For IFTTT if a leak is detected it will turn off the water pump and put the system in a way mode. Currently I only have the water leak detection at the water heater base.
      The only time where I see it gets confused as if your garage gets really warm... The sensors on the unit are just zip tied to the pipes but it picks up the ambient temperature of your garage. So it makes it think that the water is warmer than it actually is... Meaning it will dial down the temperature from the max. It's not a major problem but just something to be aware of.
      I haven't had the time I want to ask them to help solution that problem because it seems like if they just had another temperature sensor picking up the ambient Air temperature it should be able to figure out how to dial in the water temp.
