4:45 third tip. This is one I have done for a long time and when I do it forces me to make better decisions. I find myself looking at purchases differently when I do this, for example; this soda cost 15 minutes of work, this pair of jeans I just ripped/burned up cost 3 hours work, or this truck payment cost 4 or 5 days work. Gotta remember net vs gross too.
Dress for the job you want! Welders dress different all over the country! I worked on a power plant job in the south west and a new hand showed up dress and starch. He did not fit in and had a very long first day. I say dress for your interview and then you dress for work. Personally I have worn bib overalls everyday for the last 20 years of my career. Your skill speaks for you not how you dress.
Right on the money. A lot of guys are just in it for the show. My old fitter is 62 and wears burnt up hoodies, company provided Fr jeans and cheap boots and still out works the guys in fancy clothes who don’t want to get dirty.
What are some other tips you've learned along your way that you want to share to help others in the industry?
That's good advice no matter your trade welder or operator dress for success!!!
Yes sir! Thanks for the comment bud.

If you look like a million bucks, you most likely do million dollar work.
Darn right! Great comment.
