Instant Classic!!! Saw this when I was 9yrs old on the Duece in NYC with Cooley High as a Double Bill.. Crazy Dope! I knew Larry Fishburne was gonna be a star after this.. Never forgot him..
Talk about history repeating itself!! These were some of the top black actors and actresses when I was growing up! This brought back a flood of good memories! The 1970's was definitely a great decade growing up for me!❤😊
The sad thing is if you think about it... History didn't really repeat itself...nothing has really changed from back then till now. it almost feels like things are getting worse

I watched this movie in the globe cinema in barbados. Man I love this film it made me cry , I was about twelve years old. 😂❤🎉 man what a movie.. it was a film of passion and the love of the people. And I used to live in harlem. And spent some time in Queens. Now I'm 62 living in barbados right now. Mann those were the days.
Mr Fishburne and I are the same age. I’ve followed his career from this movie to the present. This is a classic. RIP to all the fine actors in this movie now resting with the ancestors.
Man, where did time go? I was 7 when this came out. I didn't see it until 14. My cousins and I would watch this all summer break. I'm in my 50s now… So I will ask again Man, where has time gone? 😂😂😂
I was 3 when this came out. So I would always here that name of the movie but had never warched it until now. 70's and 80's were some of the best decades.
Bravo "Black Tree T.V" . ! Finally a channel that actually pays the licensing and copyright fees to legally show T.V. episodes , T.V. movies , Documentaries and feature films. Larry Fishburne is acting royalty. If possible play "The King of New York" . and "What's Love got to Do with It "
One of my older brother's bought the soundtrack to this film on import in 1975. It became mine in 1981 as payment for money owed to me, along with 30 other classic albums he paid to have imported to the UK. The cute child winking on the cover of the album was Laurence Fishburne.
Did you know the Actor who played Cornbread was an actual NBA player with the Lakers Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers he was a NBA All Star. In 1975 i was 8 didn't see it in the movies but never missed it when it came on TV I love 70 movies Blaxploytation movies didn't exploit it Up lifted spirits... Thanls for posting this classic
I know you would ask Mama that😊. I have watch this movie before. And just the other day I was telling some a person about Cornbread. Now here comes the movie again. Very good and sad movie. Actors and Actresses are very brilliant.❤. It's just like yesterday.
I can't believe I'm 31 and I actually can say I grew up on this movie. DVD Era. Funny thing is......don't this remind you of Boyz N The Hood with Ricky???
For those of us of a certain age this movie reminds of a time when we were little kids and we came of age at a time when not only racism was matter of fact and casual! But police brutality as well! Our parents tried to teach us right from wrong! Schools too! I remember being confused when I came out of the house and saw this played out in front of me! This classic movies me back to those times! I was so very naive back then! All of us kids were. But we learned! Boy did we learn! Great movie!
I was born in '80. It seems like it must've been cool as Hell to be an 8 year old, or a 9 year old, in 1975, laying on the floor in the living room with THIS on the TV
First movie I ever saw at the movie theater with my family. I was 5 years old and it’s the same thing going on today with the police. Man ain’t nothing changed 49 years later smh.
I was 7 years old when this movie came out. I became aware of it when I was in my early 20s. I'm looking at this classic. It really puts things into perspective where I'm now realizing that Laurence Fishburne wasn't that much older than me. I'm getting old. Lol.
Sad this is 1975 and here we are 2024 and the same thing happening. Its A great Movie! Happy Sad all in one! Gives me Chills 50 years of the same stuff...
SW this in 1977 at the Galaxy cinema in St.Maarten when I was q3 years old. That movie was the buzz in high school for all of us freshmen Seeing thisfor thetenth time..
Antonio Fargus, playing the usual role of the cool street guy in most of his movie roles. Bernie Casey playing a cop. Rosalind Cash looking like a sweet candy bar. This movie is too nostalgic to watch. Gotta go!! 34:02
Keith Wilkes played the character Cornbread, he was a REAL basketball player at the time of this movie 🎬, he was playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, this was a all stars black actors and actresses in this movie as well, back in those days this is what happened when it came to the police departments across the United States when it came to black neighborhoods across the country , how many died at the hands of the police departments in the United States....hmmmm I wonder until to this very date....congratulations to Jamal Keith Wilkes for a job well done.❤😊
I'm still not getting how movies like this could be considered good and entertaining, it's heartbreaking. God will judge those that have done things like this or worse.
If it makes you feel better the actor that played cornbread actually played in the NBA for the warriors and the lakers! So he indeed got to live his dream.
When I first saw this film at the movie theater, Larry Fishburne was not the better known child actor. The other kid, Tierre Turner was. He had been in a few films and had a brief sitcom-The cop and the Kid.
Cornbread's mum lost another daughter called kizzy when she jumped the broom with Kunte Kinte. Those who were kids in the mid 70s know what I mean:) Luv n respect.
Cornbread Keith Wilkes turned to Jamal Wilkes (UCLA and Lakers) after he converted to Islam. Wow, a young Huggy Bear. Music composed by Donald Byrd, jazz great! Fishburne and other iconic future movie stars. These 70s movies had a good message even being low budget. Shows that we had ongoing issues with those who were to serve and protect.

Things are the same. Just Black people have gotten worse. We had dignity for the most part back then.

Lawrence Fishburne 😊
What happened to the sound? I stopped watching it because I couldn't hear anything. It looks like a good movie. 😊
I didn’t have license for that music so had to mute it for a few seconds in spaces. Sorry.
Most people here mention Laurence Fishburn, only one mentioned L.A. Lakers' Jamal Wilkes, rookie of the year in 1975.
We interviewed him on this channel not too long ago, for the Magic Johnson documentary on Apple TV, so he is alive and well. Jamaal Wilkes.
It's a pity he never lived out his dream. Got cut down early. He was so good at it.❤😊❤
If it makes you feel better the actor that played cornbread actually played in the NBA for the warriors and the lakers! So he indeed got to live his dream.
