CEO Julien Tornare will present you in this video the following watches:
Zenith DEFY Midnight
Zenith Elite Classic
Zenith Elite Moonphase
Zenith A384 Revival
Zenith DEFY 21 Land Rover Edition
Zenith DEFY 21 Carl Cox
Zenith embarked on the debut edition of LVMH Watch Week in Dubai with a new kind of innovation in its DEFY collection... E.g. the DEFY Midnight, a uniquely conceived line of women’s watches with a dreamy, cosmic touch. In addition, the new Elite collection redefines the codes of 21st century watchmaking for the ultimate in contemporary elegance and last but not least there is the A384 Revival chronograph ...
Zenith CEO Julien Tornare told me: “I’m very grateful that Zenith is in Dubai for the first edition of LVMH Watch Week - DUBAI 2020, which I believe is the new international destination for the world of watchmaking. Glamorous and forward- thinking at the same time, Dubai is the perfect place to present an innovative collection of feminine watches. We are placing women’s watches at the forefront of the brand’s creative endeavors. But we weren’t content with making yet another ladies’ watch. With our newest models, it is the first time that Zenith has conceived women’s watches from the ground up”.
This is what Stéphane, Bianchi CEO of LVMH Watchmaking Divison & CEO of of TAG Heuer and Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari told me in Dubai: "We are delighted to introduce the LVMH watch week in Dubai and showcase the exceptional strength, creativity and innovation of the group’s watchmaking brands, Bvlgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith. The four maisons are joining forces to present their 2020 product novelties and offer key international media, retail partners and clients a unique brand experience, in a new format that is a testament to the unparalleled sense of hospitality and service of the LVMH brands. Our ambition is for the LVMH watch week to be a significant business and image driver for our maisons this year, and a complement to other strategic brand moments such as Baselworld 2020."

What do you think? Do you like these Zenith watches? Write your comment just here underneath and I will get in touch with you...
Can't wait to read your comments... IMHO Zenith has done a great job! I like the new ladies watches and also the ones for men... In the description of the video you will find some basic informations about the Zenith novelties and some more detailed informations about the new format LVMH Watch Week that was the first time ever held in Dubai this week...
SL When you try the chronograph on your wrist take good care of your credit card 💳 . He he!
I just ordered an A384 revival after this video . Awesome to see Zenith doing better and better !
@@jrwong23 Congratulations! Bravo 👏! Well done 👍🏻 You will never regret it... Please let me know if you need anything and/or you have questions... When will the A384 be delivered?
@@WatchAdvisor thank you ! I got it on Monday this week. Wearing it since lol. And now I’m starting to like the Defy 21 ! But it’s too big for my 6.25 inch wrist :(
The A384 on a Gay Frères is absolutely stunning! The Land Rover and Carl Cox are cool as well. I'm really impressed with Zenith.
FFL It’s absolutely not a shame to express this! Thank you very much, since I think the brand deserves it!
You see each of these individually on the channel from time to time - seeing them all together is brilliant; it highlights just how much work Julien and the team have put in over the past little while! Has me looking at Zenith with renewed enthusiasm!
I am happy to read this! The brand must be seen with enthusiasm, it deserves it!
FINALLY! Thanks for listening to my request, Alex! Btw, the elite movement is an underrated movement. It has an El Primero's winding DNA and the Elite has the same amount of detail as El Primero. But not even some Zenith fans know that.
And the A384 revival in ladder bracelet is soooo goood.
The Elite three-hand-automatic calibre is totally underrated. It would deserve much more attention...
That bracelet is gorgeous in fact!
@@WatchAdvisor i wish I can buy one with my current finance situation
A good start for Zenith; I can see that Julien has great vision to develop Zenith as a brand. Zenith just needs to be itself. Kudos to Julien and his team!
thediton Zenith has EVERYTHING but unfortunately many potential buyers are not aware of.:.
Well done Alexander and congrats to Julienne Tornare for his great commitment in Zenith. I’m a great fan of the brand (I was only six years old when a proud grandfather showed me his gold Zenith watch), the A384 will be my next purchase
Antonio Criminisi The A384 is cult! And with the Gay Freres bracelet a stunner on top. You only have to adapt to the smaller size...
Great video Alexander. Always believed that Zenith was an under appreciated and under loved watch company. All beautiful pieces! Happy New Year to you and your staff! Looking forward to an awesome 2020!
George, happy new year and thank you so much for that feedback! And yes I agree still is totally underrated...
Cool range of pieces! Love the starry dial - if it had no diamonds, it would be also be a very nice unisex piece. The Carl Cox watch looks like fab.
MichaelOC _ Ladies first! The Elite might come later also as a kind if unisex watch... As a vinyl fan I must say the Cox is really cool 😎
I had the privilege of trying the A384 at the last visit to Dubai, on display it didn't look really catchy but when the boutique man asked me to try it, wow it was really cool on hand. it fits perfectly and goes almost with anything you wear.
The only thing one could worry about is the size... since we are all used to wear huge watches meanwhile... But all the rest... just as you wrote!
Watchadvisor. As you might remember I bought my first Zenith el primero because of your Zenith video last year. Again this is a very good interview with some great new watch styles. The revival watch is supercool! Keep up the good work both Zenith as Watchadvisor.
Bastiaan van Zon I know and the fact makes me proud! You have to see the A384 in real! That chronograph is so cool...
@@WatchAdvisor I follow most of the watch reviewers on youtube. What I believe sets watchadvisor apart from its peers is that you actually listen to the brands and their vision instead of only comment based on personal feelings. This is very interesting because through your videos we can learn where brands are going and how they are trying to inspire their customers. All this in a very down to earth manner. Thanks
Bastiaan van Zon Love your comment, thank you very much! I do comment some times on my personal almost 30 years of experience in the industry and only on facts, facts, but never on personal feelings. The channel has no place for personal mental psycho hygiene. You, the best audience in the world, have enough feelings and understanding, you don’t need me for that ...
@@WatchAdvisorThanks! Have a good day!
Great interview! You can feel the enthusiasm Mr Tornare has for the future of Zenith.
I also loved that mechanism for interchangeable bands, especially on clasp/buckle end; clever and practical design.
Halid Thank you very much for the positive feedback! Zenith is back on track and ready to entertain and surprise you!
Still waiting for the thinner version of the El Primero Tricolore!!
I was told they'll reintroduce the thinner case around this time!
I have not heard about that one. Will ask and let you know...
@@WatchAdvisor thanks, it's the 38mm version was first done with a thin case and overlapping subdials, then they changed the subdials in I believe 2017, but then sometime around 2018 they changed the case by adding a thicker bezel increasing the thickness of the watch to 13.7 from 12,45.
I wrote to them and they said they will reintroduce the thinner older case at the beginning of 2020
Totally agree
Watch Geek Thanks for clarifying! Will collect some information and come back
Definitely going to get the Carl Cox watch.
Zenith is starting the year right.
Mas Kito I couldn’t agree more! Respect for this really good start into 2020...
Fantastic video, Zenith is definitely going the right way.The A384 is an absolute jewel!
Freddie The A384 is CULT and a stunner! Zenith on top is a cool brand...
@@WatchAdvisor very cool and legendary indeed!!
I really like the Defy range. I wish they came out with a men’s version in a smaller size than the current 41mm, maybe 39 or 38mm.
Interesting point, since so many complained before about the too small chronographs at Zenith. I expect them to do something like this once the Defy collection has become really popular and successful ...
Great video. Loving the el primero, the best vintage look. Looking for the leather strap version
Hafizh Ardhi Thanks 🙏 for the positive feedback! El Primero is cult under all aspects. Not many brands can look back on such an emotional heritage...
The ladies pieces are absolutely stunning and the interchangeability of straps is really something a lot of customers will appreciate I wish them very successful future. Also have to be honest; I have no idea who Carl Cox is but the watch is super cool.
Just one technical question: does the 670 Elite caliber in the ladies models still have bidirectional quick set for the date? As always great video.
Jan Novotny Good question! I didn’t have the time to play around/try it... will therefore have to ask and let you know... thanks for sharing your thoughts with us
very impressive, I'm proberly going to get the Defy midnight with diamond bezel and MP dial for my wife. As a watch enthusiast I never was a Zenith fan until I read up on them. At first I thought they made TV's. I now own a Deft 21 and Pilot Ton up.
Robert Quinn The TVs are still in the pipeline... could be the next vintage release...
@@WatchAdvisor you misunderstood. There was an American company called Zenith that sold televisions. Zenith the watch manufacturer were not allowed to sell their watches in America until 2000 when the LVMH bought Zenith the Television company. In America they still think of televisions when Zenith is mentioned. They have a lot to catch up on in the American market.
Always on top! Grazie! Bravo!
Grazie, è stato un piacere per me
9:19 my god that looks amazing, perfect sizing, and down to the clasp it is design purity.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Let me know if you have any questions...
Hi Alexander and congratulations for the video and for the trip to beautiful Dubai!🤩 Spectacular! 🏝
Congratulations to Zenith 🤩🤩 for the women's Defy, they are truly gorgeous!
I would like to ask you a few questions Alexander... you and the best Ceo Julien Tornare👍: will it be possible to see smaller Defy 21 El Primero soon? (39; 40; 41; 42?)
How many Defy 21 El Primero in carbon does Zenith produce in one year? And how many Defy 21 El Primero in black ceramic in a year?
Can you ask Tornare if men's watches with particular complications are expected in the coming years? In particular with a weekly calendar? Thanks Alexander!👍👍👍 I would have taken the plane to reach you there✈ ... But I have to wait for Baselworld 🤩
Nice of Zenith to bring in more options for women and such beautiful watches, very feminine.
BTW love the new video style. 👍 to the new and improved WatchAdvisor.
Farhan Love your comment and the fact that you are so attentive to note that we are steadily working on the quality of our videos. In fact we listen when the best audience in the world speaks to us... 😉
Elegant collection. Thanks for sharing
o neph. You are welcome
Kudos - the women's Defy watches look really interesting. Not like the usual afterthought or gem-setting extravaganza.
Aaaand now I saw the prizes :-( Why none in the prize bracket of the men's titanium Defy?
Thomas Moll I can’t tell you. In the end this is a product marketing decision... And with the experience the LVMH Group hast with luxury there must be a reason...
🤩 I haven't seen the video yet ... but I'm already excited! 🤩
That Defy Classic Midnight would look great as a simplified 39mm stainless for men. The case and bracelet have a real Gérald Gentaesque quality about it.
Rolex, zenith, jlc. My fav brands in my collection :)
Which watches do you already own, if I may ask you...
@@WatchAdvisor gmt master ceramic, polar explorer, sea dweller, datejust, el primero, reverso tribute.
That 37mm primero is gorgeous. Now next is a 37mm Espada with date, simple and easy.
Espada would be cool 😎 , but I am not sure if Zenith still has that movement available with its moon phase and day/date/month indication ...
Indeed it seems like they have good vision on their future. A classic piece in smaller size, a carbon fiber limited piece, land rover stuff for the people who like modern monochrome watches and nice ladies watches. Really a complete package and they seem to go in the right direction thanks to the CEO.
Thanks for that feedback! Many things are fabulous at Zenith, including the quality of the pieces. The brand still has a lack in awareness and in sexiness... This seems to be the most challenging part...
I'd love to see a 36mm Elite without the diamonds. Whilst the larger model is fine and fits modern trends, I just prefer a more classically proportioned watch.
Love the defy 21 great stuff from Zenith! On the way back up.
Richard Baptist Thanks for sharing, I absolutely agree...
This CEO is young and sharp. Good luck to zenith. Not my taste but good values for money. The black ceramic skeleton defy is a great piece. Not so legible but...very cool
Francesco S Like the way you see things. You don’t necessarily need to like what Zenith is doing, but to understand that this is an attractive brand means you that you are smart... 👍
WatchAdvisor thanks a lot for the comment. I work in a big multinational company (automotive), and i know perfectly the work that is behind a product. More than the product itself I like to see how companies set their staregies, the vision they have, the effort they put to compete in this very competitive global market. I like that zenith doesn't have fear, they set budgets to lunch innovative products. I see a company that has willing to play the game. On the other way, Rolex play the game in the opposite direction. As consumer, I am more excited about Zenith behavior, because you can expect they release very exciting watches and I am really bored about Rolex. On the other hand I understand that keeping the leadership as nr1 seller it's hard and they prefere to keep their production limited, no discounts, and increase the turnover not selling more watches but just increasing the retail price. Vicius strategy for consumers but as long as the market go crazy for their watches...i can just admire their marketing capability. So, good luck Zenith. Your CEO gave me a very good impression and I saw many CEOs from different industries
I forwarded your comment to Julien and he was really happy to read it... I think that’s what he deserves! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for your feedback! Stay tuned since there is much more to come here. Thanks again, I simply love my audience!
the revival at 37mm is a great size!
For me a little to small though. It’s incredible how quickly we got used to bigger sizes - not only in watches... Same thing happening e.g. also with cars...
Does anybody know to tell me what is the % around world of the luxary watches to women ?! I hope Zenith know what they are doing... Nice pieces...I fall in love A 384... Panda Dial from sixties ...Amazing...
WATCH PASSION The women’s segment is still steadily growing, so Zenith can’t do anything wrong...
Cool watches. Is way more interesting than they did Last year Thanks for the insight news Alex
You are welcome! Which novelty did you like most. What about the Elite ladies?
@@WatchAdvisor the women collection I think is spot on for them, a lot of choices with straps and buckles, Nice clásic and refine pieces, love the collection
Rafael Rodriguez Thanks for clarifying!
Zenith....a brand with rich history like my other favourites Jaeger-LeCoultre, Vacheron Constatin, Grand Seiko, A. Lange & Söhne. On one glorious day.....I will have an El Primero Defy 21.
AamirTime I keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that this day will come very, very soon...
Zenith is knocking it out of the park with that a384
Ariaditya Pramestu A ticking icon! Cult!
@@WatchAdvisor
Thanks for the exclusive content!
Ariaditya Pramestu You are very welcome!
I’m sure this isn’t wasn’t intentionally the case but the Defy Midnight line looks like it owes some of its design DNA to the mid-70s Seiko King Quartz line.
🤷🏻♂️
This Defy 21, how is it live Alex? Zenith is really one of my favourite watchmakers...
Sinisa Kovac What exactly do yo want to know and which one?
@@WatchAdvisor About Land Rover Defy 21, what's the feel of the watch live? I know it's ceramic and I like the military color but the strap is not good looking imo.
Sinisa Kovac The watch is extremely light, therefore fits good on the wrist. The rubber strap color matches 100% the color of the case... It’s rubber so you either like it or not. I would go for the tissue strap I show in the video. That’s also my favorite...
@@WatchAdvisor Thank you Alex, this chronograph turn each second is really appealing to me, but to be honest, maybe it would be annoying if I had the watch for a longer period
Sinisa Kovac I don’t think so! The Defy 21 is more the addictive type of chronograph
@@WatchAdvisor vielen lieben Dank, Alexander!
I will buy just the El Primero Re-Issue❗️👌🏻
Yaax Arr That’s a wonderful idea 😉
They need to bring back the A386 in steel without it being the limited editions or the one in the limited edition box with other defys! I would buy it in a heart beat!
I hear you... Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Has come a long way
Not familiar with Carl Cox but I love that watch!
Not a bad DJ at all... The watch itself is absolutely cool! I love the little "turntable" and that glowing when dark...
Zenith is missing a big opportunity by not having a man's style watch in 36mm like the Datejust.
Watch Pronometer The project is in the pipeline... I can’t say more today...
lovely intro
Really like the land rover green 👍👍
Kind of muddy green... looking like a Land Rover Defender being driven through muddy terrain...
@@WatchAdvisor the only negative is the size 44 mm is too big, nearly everyone is downsizing a bit
The non jumping seconds makes it difficult to read the seconds sub dial on the land rover. I think its more gimmick than functionality. 1/100 of a second, but difficult to read second increments.
Milli Vanilli 1/100 ?! Already ones personal delay when staring and stopping the chronograph questions the real use of it. But still a wonderful achievement and fun to have
The carl cox nice dial and the defender rover edition i wish they come with a date and boxed or doomed saphire glass ....
Interesting remarks! Did you mean domed sapphire glas on the Defender Edition?
@@WatchAdvisor hahahha yes domed saphire glass...
Sapphire glass - sorry for the typo - on the Defender watch? Domed? Why did one one would like this on such a modern chronograph?
@@WatchAdvisor yes defender, idk something is missing from the dial and the bezel - design wise from strap , crown and pusher is fresh; however - the bezel looks like a step bro of hublot.. the dial reminded me of speedy- ..about domed saphire.. why not....😁 extra look from side angle
I hope they make a sand-blasted grey titanium ladder bracelet for their Revival Shadow at some point. Can you ask Mr. Tornare about this?
A very cool idea in fact! I will transfer your idea to Julien, by sending him a screenshot of your post by WhatsApp... Thanks for your input!
@@WatchAdvisor My pleasure, and thank you. Listen, I just replied to you, but I don't see it showing up here, so I'm re-replying. If you'd be so kind, can you please also ask Mr. Tornare if he'd be willing to add/include a minute track (with seconds markers) for the chronograph second hand, so one can actually use the chronograph function to time things in seconds? I'm guessing they negated it because they wanted as clean a dial as possible, but the minute track on the somewhat similar "A384 Revival Lupin the third edition" didn't harm the visual aesthetic of that watch, so I don't think it would harm it on this one, either...and it's a necessary feature on a chronograph.
I've actually seen the Revival Shadow in the metal and had it on my wrist, and it's a great looking watch. It just needs a minute track. It'll still be beautiful and cool with it included.
Why do the 3 Zenith watches at 1 min 50 have their second hands going backwards ?
That’s due to editing! No worries 😉
The land rover edition is quite handsome. The catalog describes its color as grey but it looks more like green here. Is it green to you?
Its more a grey-green than a grey...
@@WatchAdvisor thanks. I wish they went rugged, functionality wise. At least 15 bar would have been nice.
Hey :) what is the name of the intro music?
We do license our music from PremiumBeat.com
As a club DJ, I think a DJ's watch should have a heavy focus on lume or even Tritium as low light visibility is paramount. The vinyl looks a bit gimmicky and out of place. Maybe a vinyl inspired dial face would have been cool. A set timer bezel, road ready construction, GMT. A lot of functional features could be done with a DJ's tool watch...
Thanks 🙏 for sharing your thoughts with us! An interesting read... Just one remark: It is meanwhile forbidden 🚫 to use radioactive substances as Tritium ...
@@WatchAdvisor Interesting, I'm pretty sure Marathon and Luminox are still producing Swiss Tritium watches...
Great vid thanks
Albert Myers 🙏
Zenith's movements have not yet been taken advantage of; Zenith is an underrated brand, I love Zenith ... Your Pilot watches are the best and my favorites .....
Norman Misántropo Julien, the CEO, is reading here and I am sure he will like your comment. Thank you very much!
I want a Defy 36mm for man... I have such a tiny wrsit
I feel your pain, keep rocking a Cartier Tank or start lifting.
A new watch doesn't ned a story, just needs to look good, The starry sky doesn't really work. The changing straps is excellent and should be the standard for luxury watches.
I disagree with what you wrote concerning the need of a story! The more story you have to tell, the more real and fascinating that story is the better it is. It’s fueling a good looking watch with tons of emotions...
The new women’s dress pieces remind me of the Rolex Cellini.
That’s true! The watches have a similar dial... But Zenith did not copy, since such dials existed before...
It wasn’t meant as a criticism, just an observation. I think too many people unnecessarily criticize similarities. If something’s beautiful, it’s beautiful.
Mark Maier Thanks for clarifying, but I absolutely did not interpret your answer as a criticism!
The A384 is nice, but the other small Defy for women, no way, every women will prefer a cheaper 36mm Rolex date. The Land Rover collaboration drab green Defy, my goodness, Zenith are just out of ideas and only 250... be lucky if they sell that many, but they will probably "go" eventually. But I just can't help but think the management of LVMH imposed their whim on this guy. Whenever I see a Hublot, Tag or Zenith, I always have to look at the dial for the brand name because they all kind of look the same.
steven uk1 Interesting read, thanks for sharing! You are right with the Rolex when it is about a status symbol for the wrist. Then of course she will prefer the Oyster. When it is about class, style, individual taste and so on, the Zenith outperforms the Rolex by far... Concerning the very similar design I can tell you this will change again rapidly. The three brands will again get more USP ...
steven uk1 My wife is certainly more interested in the Zenith. Look at it.
The Rolex is I inspired and plain, but to each his or her own.
Didnt know walter white was into watches
You are not the first to write this ... I would want to meet Bryan Cranston one day, believe me...
Illuminating interview. Zenith are a brand with great heritage, that lost its way and is trying hard to move in the right direction. But ironically I think they are stylistically dated beyond their classic models. Still too many large, ostentatious (Defy) pieces, reminiscent of Hublot. This is typified by misreading the female market: "Women asked for something smaller; we gave them the 36mm!" So, a traditional men's size. 36mm is a big watch for most average sized women. The equivalent of a 42 or more for most men. That's a huge size for a small bezel watch, similar to an IWC Portugese. Stars and diamonds? Not so modern! Watch makers don't want to produce smaller movements so are palming customers off with unisex sizes. Mens watches getting smaller, women's getting bigger - snakes and ladders marketing! Now, that A384 is a beautiful, fine piece. But that clasp? Authentic. Yes. Cheap? Yes. Cool? No. It has no place on a watch of this calibre. The watch is not entirely an authentic remake anyway - sapphire crystal etc, so why carry over a part best consigned to history. Also, I think 100m water resist would be more appropriate for a modern sports reference. But, I wish Zenith good fortune, the watch world would be the less without them.
Very interesting read... thanks for sharing!
A bit late to this, as have just purchased the watch in question with the bracelet in question, and have to agree with you.
It has modern updates like the sapphire front and back, so as you quite rightly say, why not have a modern clasp? Still, it’s not noticed when wearing and is actually the most comfortable bracelet clasp in my collection, so that’s something I guess 🤷♂️
I owned 4 Zenith El Primero always got trouble with this sensitive movement
What exactly happened? It is hard to believe since I also own several El Primero and I never had a single issue with one...
Calibre 400 seems fine working for ten years
Stamp!
13:07 Wow!!!
JAPD What exactly made you write “wow”? Let me be curious and ask you for more details please...
I like the Carl Cox El Primero shown at 13:07. I find very cool the running seconds vinyl record style, the green composite case, the matching dark green of the skeleton movement, the red and yellow accents ... even the orange note of the strap, gives the watch a fun / sporty factor. I would like to know more about that composite case, I believe it must be very light, What about its resistance?,. May be for future reviews.
That was my "Wow", I like that piece a lot.
Walter White / Heisenberg
Oronzo cana He he! Yesssss that’s me...😉🤣😂
Looks like a Seiko 5.
once an honest watch brand vulgarized and diluted by a fashion conglomerate...
Sorry, but I disagree! Vulgarized only by the short-term CEO Thierry Nataf for a couple of years... Since then handled in a gentle manner and with lots of enthusiasm...
Zenith will go bankrupt with these type of watches
Victor A If you were the CEO of Zenith and in the position to decide... Which designs and watches would you present to the public?
