    After eating this monster Turkish breakfast in Istanbul, Turkey, my local buddy and I were so happy. Turkish food is awesome! We ate it on the street, outside of a local Turkish breakfast joint! Please like: foodrangin
    We went to the local Turkish Breakfast joint just up the hill from the Galata tower in Taksim, just down the street from Taksim square. It was called Van Kahvaltı Evi. We paid 60 TL for a full breakfast for two, complete with way too much food. Their menu was really extensive, and offered many local specialty foods. Here are some of the local foods that we tried on the street while enjoying the Istanbul lifestyle.
    Turkish sausage + Scrambled eggs + Tomatoes
    Pastrami fried eggs
    Fried wheat flour
    Tahini Molasses
    Assorted cheeses
    Tomatoes + Cucumbers
    Nutella
    Clotted cream
    Sundried tomato paste
    Turkish tea
    Olives
    And we were full! It was truly a wonderful meal! I fell in love with Turkish cuisine more and more after every meal I ate, and found Turkish people to be very friendly and hospitable. If you're thinking about visiting Turkey, go travel there for sure! If you are a local, you know that Turkey has some of the best food in the world!

    HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!

      Zopir hello since you're Turkish i have a question, you have a dish that consists of fried dough what's it called?

    • @tkn315
      @tkn315 7 років тому +33

      MAY7317 I think you mean "pişi". Pişi is a very simple Turkish, bread-like, fried dough snack. We usually eat this for breakfast, but you can easily make this as a snack during the day because it's so easy, although it's kind of on the heavier side because it's obviously fried dough, but there are some recipes online, which show how to make pişi that doesn't absorb too much oil. Hope this helps :)

      This is a typical Turkish breakfast originally from city called Van. Therefore it's well known in Turkey as "Van Kahvaltisi" which means Van style breakfast. And if you noticed on this video the restaurant name is "Van kahvalti evi" means Van breakfast house.

    • @ozanbayrak562
      @ozanbayrak562 6 років тому +2

      yasemin demiray yea yea, you talk as if other parts of turkey people do not know or eat brakfast. Can you please explain that where is the native land of olives, olive oil or tomato? or simit? Made of Van? of course not. All the parts of the breakfast come from any place of the country. smartass Van people putting this name in Istanbul as ''(so called) Van kahvaltısı'' doesn't change the truth.

    • @rumplestar8652
      @rumplestar8652 6 років тому

      Indeed; since when tahin, pastirma, olives etc comes from Van... Its a breakfast mix of all country and each region eats part of this (and many more which are not in this video) daily.

    Nutella mı olur Türk kahvaltısında, onun yerine Tahin pekmez koyun.
    Nutella is not Turkish ofcourse, we prefer tahin pekmez instead of nutella and as it is said in the other comments, this is daily normal breakfast except nutella.

    I didn't realise it would be so healthy as Turkish food in the UK has a long association with being extremely high in fat and calories. In Scotland where I live you can order what is called a munchy box which consists of Donor meat, chips, pakoras, garlic bread, onion rings with a can of coke thrown in for good measure.

    Tons of small plates. All cheeses, eggs, dips. Try Filipino breakfast that are really filling and heavy. Fried rice, fried eggs or scrambled, fried marinated beef, chicken porridge, Langgoniza, smoked fish, dried fish, tocino, etc etc.

    It really annoys me when they translate pastirma as pastrami. Also I think that was sun dried red pepper paste...not tomato. Kaymak is also slightly different than the American cream.

    • @ismata3274

    Pastırma does NOT come from pastrami !!! in the video ömer said it was pastırami eggs, that is not correct. pastırma comes from the word "bastırma" which means to squeeze, to push. it is and old tradition when we were on the steppes on our horses we put the pastırma between our legs and the horse so it gets pressed. it is covered with spice mixture and it usually gets aged for 6-12 months.
