5:23 I'll never ever get over the fact that Tony Hawk games finally came back with a fantastic entry that virtually everyone loved and then the devs immediately got disbanded after, even when they were considering remaking Pro Skater 3 and 4 too which was confirmed by Tony himself. I was so sad when I read about that, and I still am

omg i would do unimaginable things to get 3 and 4 be remade like 1 and 2 did.
3 was my introduction to the series and because of my crpy pc it was the newest one that i was able to play for about 3 years. 4 seemed like it would just improve on literally everything from 3 and i was always enjoying playing it on the xbox at my friends place.

Unfortunately online gaming has BEEN doomed ever since microstransactions really took off, since then it’s just been snowballing into gaming nightmare oblivion
I miss the days that Call of Duty released actually good DLC content that we had to pay for. This caused developers to bring new and excited things to the game while generating revenue for them, instead of stupid battle passes
@@OriginsHQPeople complained about the map packs back then just as much as battle passes now. What new and exciting things did map packs ever even bring to the games? They were just more maps like now except you had to pay.
@@OriginsHQ right? New maps, new modes/missions. Back before day one patches, when the game HAD to be complete before release. Everything is just about money now, not a single person who started Call of Duty even works there anymore, not one original person. Meaning, the entire franchise is just being made by workers “doing a job” rather than developers making a passion project.

Activision has been transparent about that for a long time. And who are you to say that the developers aren’t passionate about what they do? You don’t work there so how would you know?
@@R17759 most people didn’t mind paying because they actually received a finished product at the release of the game in which most people were content with. Now the games are released all buggy and instead of fixing the problems, they throw new skins or challenges in the game to distract you from the problem in the first place, do you remember when the newer MW2 came out? There were about 8 CORE MAPS FOR ALMOST HALF A YEAR, with nothing being added except cosmetics. Back on OG MW2 and MW3 used to release with TWICE THE AMOUNT. Free maps or not, the quality of the games are pushed aside by the quantity of micro-transactions. That’s why I refuse to buy COD until they actually release a finished game for once.
perfect example towards the end is HellDivers 2. The devs literally had no control over that situation because of the ppl who sit higher than them. Luckily they picked the wrong community to try that shit lol

Like I know y'all are way too biased to even consider that the developers are also at fault but they are. I swear Xbox & PlayStation should just refuse to port games to PC because it always ends in a headache for them. That's why Nintendo is doing good after decades in the industry. They learned from CD-i & decided to never port again because it's an issue. PlayStation & Xbox definitely need to follow Nintendo's footsteps in that regard

What happened w the end of helldivers 2?
The Tony Hawk team actually remade Crash and Spiro BEFORE doing 1+2. They got dissolved become support for Overwatch 2 which is a million times worse
You could replace “game development” with “FaZe Clan” and it would still make perfect sense with the whole situation that happened the last 2 years, so many people that were passionate about what they do getting thrown in the trash because the “owners” never cared about them in the first place and only wanted the skills they had at that moment. That’s why people that just joined over the past 2/3 years got to stay over people that stuck to the roots and enjoyed being apart of the things they are passionate about.

What Jev is describing near the start. The games industry is a passion industry. You can have the same skills as a developer working in say... finance. But games studios know that they can pay you significantly less than that other dev because you are more interested/passionate about gaming, so they know you'll accept it. Either you hate your job and get paid the big bucks, or you love your job but barely get paid enough to get by.
True tho, have friends working in QA, only reason why they stay is because they Want to work on video games. But holy SHIT they’re being paid 15 an hr and crunching bruh

as if bo4 wasnt. People ignore that game despite it having twice as many maps as CW zombies and having far more variety than BO3, rather than just being the game where you buy the same four perks and run Dead Wire on a gun with poor sound design.

Tony Hawk underground 2 is the best skating game imo. Just was fun to goof around with friends after school and was just a blast to play. Sadly, I've never gotten that feeling again with any of the newer ones

Vicarious Studios developed the Crash Insane Trilogy back in 2017 so clearly they cared about the Crash/Spyro era of gaming and were the original intended dev team for Crash 4, but they were working on THPS instead. future Crash Bandicoot titles were developed by 'Toys For Bob' and had nothing to do with THPS 1+2 support getting dropped. Also Vicarious Studios wanted to work on a THPS 3+4 remake, but ACTIVISION rejected it SPECIFICALLY for more Call Of Duty content. So no they didn't get disbanded; instead they got moved to Activision Jail to make more CoD/WoW content instead.

Yeah I don't know what Jev was talking about there,those studios had a lot of passion with those projects that resulted in great games like Crash N.Sane Trilogy,Crash 4 and Spyro Reignited Trilogy.I understand that he might not care at all about these games,but truth is way different than what he think it is.Who worked on those projects are mostly still in but Activision jailed them,as you said,in the COD teams which is a sad fate.
From what I remember they weren't moved to Activision for Cod, they were moved to Blizzard for OW2 and Diablo 4 and other future side projects within Blizzard.

Big companies like Activision, Bethesda, or EA are probably some of the most malicious companies in the world, not just video game developing companies. Because they set such high bars and want to stick to/surpass them, they constantly replace the talent of even their most dedicated employees.
Gaming will only truly recover if we see indie developers or indie teams completely dominate the landscape for a few years, hopefully allowing big companies to see the value in each of their individual employees

Back in the late 90's early 00's I had a few friends try and get into the Game industry as testers. It's not "Getting paid to play games" it's "Do this 15 second encounter in 100 different ways to try and break it" and they lean on the whole "You work in GAMING!" to pay low and over work. NOW they are mostly outsourced sweatshop things....

Im just gonna say gaming isn’t doomed or dead, most people just fail to expand the type of games they play.. tons of great games get released each year, not buying cod for like the last 5 years has really widened reality that games are still good and gaming has been the most fun for me since mw2-3 and the Blackops 1-2

idk about yall but for the old cods i didnt need seasonal updates, new weapons and lackluster content for me to enjoy those games. i played the same cod games for years with max level and everything unlocked with nothing to do but matchmake get high kills and call in high streaks and had the time of my life. the new ones have no replay value, once the year is up( if your insane enough to play it for that long) you pretty much just forget about them. i didnt stop playing cod mw2-b02 religiously until about 2019. its unfortunate where cod is now but it is what it is.

Indie games are entering their golden era. I still play CoD here and there, but almost every other game I play right now is from an indie dev studio. They're so awesome. Game engines are so good these days that graphics are no longer an issue for indie devs.
