As an online follower of Rev. Murphy and Emmanuel Church - Morecambe, I am deeply disturbed by what is happening and how it happened. I marveled at how the number of parishioners in attendance grew and the number of people online also grew over the 8 months I followed him. Is it not the duty of a church to grow its membership? Please pray for Rev. Murphy, his family, and Emmanuel Church - Morecambe.
The Free Church of England, who sacked this minister, is largely an Australian institution! It was started by Sidney Diocese ministers! So don't pile it into UK!
We must believe God has something even better for Brett. Pray for peace during these moments and that those “Who are called by His name” and have offended our Lord, seek His forgiveness. Interesting how Mar Mari was treated by the established church. Need for repentance from us all!

Rev Brett is a truly godly man who has prospered with God blessing his ministry. From 2 to 50 members at Emmanual Morecambe in just one year. A thriving outreach to homeless folk and others, and a church family who love him and his family dearly, are reeling from this attack. So sudden. So uncalled for. It appears he is one in a long line of others who have also been cancelled by this bishop. Praying for him and his family.

Yes. It's looks like this will be very damaging for the FCE. Brett was a great advocate for them and, from what I see, was doing great work building his congregation.
Try the Connexion, they still hold to the Original Principles of the FCE and are what the FCE will become If/when the Primus is Defrocked and Replaced with a Godly Man.
That's exactly why they fired him. The leftist marxists have infiltrated the so called safe haven for Anglicans as well. Go non-denominational. The only umbrella you need is the Holy Spirit. He can be as Anglican liturgically as he wants to be, but he will answer directly to God, not a bunch of corrupt infiltrates from the pit and their father the devil.

It can't be overstated that Rev. Brett really has put his heart, soul and energy into Emmanuel since he's been there and, each time I have visited, his faith and optimism, his cheery welcome and acceptance of all God's people have never been absent. This truly is an abhorrent way to treat a thoroughly decent and Godly man and his family.
The FCE enquiry into this is shocking and almost unbelievable - there was a total lack of any Christian kindness, compassion and love for Rev'd Brett, his family and his loving congregation. Follow it all on UA-cam - it's better than any thriller!

As a former minister in the FCE, I can say that the said Bishop is a wolf and a hireling, as described by Jesus in John chapter 10. More than 35 ministers have already left in the last 5 years, all directly saying he is the cause. His legacy will be remembered as someone who destroyed the denomination.

In addition to the above link a letter sent as a parishioner of Brett's to various people (or a variation thereof) Whenever we watch your UA-cams you remind us of the frustrations Brett suffered. Whenever I look at Brett I understand why you don't take that leap of faith. The letter,: Upto about a year ago my wife and I have attended the Church of England. We stopped attending over a year ago as, in common with so many, believed that the CofE was not properly proclaiming the biblical word of God and becoming increasingly involved in "woke". Through his on line ministry we were introduced to Brett Murphy and decided to attend his church, Emmanuel, on a regular basis. This involves us in a round trio of almost 100 miles each time we attend. We watched your proceedings and felt that there was not a proper balance. Nobody had asked the congregation of Emmanuel though it was alluded to but with little conviction. We noted you had understandable difficulty in pronouncing "Morecambe". This indicated to us that you are probably know nothing of its location, history and social problems. It is important you are aware of these and the way they affect Emmanuel. Morecambe is a Victorian seaside resort which owed its then prosperity to tourism. This was true until about the sixties when cheap air travel made it possible for its traditional visitors to fly to the resorts of sunny Spain and its guaranteed weather. This spelt the decline of Morecambe, as with other such resorts, to what it is today, one of the most financially depressed areas in the UK. Emmanuel did not escape. It is a tumbledown church with its garden growing on the roof much to the detriment of the masonry. The east door can not be opened for fear it would cause the tower to collapse. This is what confronted Brett (and his wife) on his arrival early last year when he reopened the church, following Covid, with a congregation of two elderly people, the last of the previous Emmanuel congregation. Since that time he has built up the congregation to be larger than the congregation of the leafy church we left which has existed for well over 100 hundred years. Unlike any other church I know Emmanuels doors are not locked shut for six and a half days a week, open only for Sunday morning services. Its doors are open everyday. It provides a community cafe and shop which caters for those without hope. The first Sunday of each month there is a "parish lunch" to which all are invited. Several attend the lunch who do not attend the service but amazingly, because of the fellowship offered, start to come to church because they feel cared for and belong. It is an amazing thing to witness coming from a suburban parish. I could go on and talk about the young girl that had been stabbed that fell into church whilst we were having a reenactment of a passover supper (something we have never been to following 50 years church attendance) She became a regular member of the congregation and openly spoke of the love she received which she had not received anywhere before. The homeless he personally takes under his wing and helps to find new accommodation most of whom join the fellowship of the congregation. During all your deliberations the only words we recognised were "Brett Murphy". The way you said them were of an ordinary cleric which you would find in any parish. The way we heard them was of a devout Christian working tirelessly during each day (and night) administering the word of the Lord with such enthusiasm and purpose that causes the congregation to continue increase in size. One is reminded of the gospel story where the Pharasees were criticising Jesus for performing miracles on the Sabbath. Brett (and his wife) are quietly and without notoriety performing miracles in Morecambe. He seems to be receiving the same treatment. The future of the Church depends on people like Brett and his wife. Your lack of support will cause there to be no gospel believing churches for us or anybody else to attend, no matter the distance. The wishes of the congregation must be respected. End The support he gets from his congregation is beyond belief. Eric France MBE

I dodged a bullet as I considered the FCE. I think the guy in charge,Fennec or whatever his name is, has got rid of quite a few ministers in his church from what I have heard.

Atheists have an irritating saying 'there is no hate quite like Christian love'. Unless something is comes to light to justify the bishop's actions (which I consider to be vanishingly unlikely) then the bishop is lending substance to this saying.
Good to hear that the body of Christ are gathered as one right across the Christian community pray for true justice to become a reality "-God is spirit those who worship must worship in spirit and in truth" St John also for Micah we are told to love justice show mercy and to live humbly before God .
I cannot help feeling that this is part of a larger story, particularly with Father Calvin Robinson leaving the FCE last month as well, and moving to the Nordic Catholic Church. I continue to watch this space.
If this is the risk of vicars leaving the CofE, no wonder power block within the CofE will push through what they want. Where else can a vicar go? S/he will have to tow the party line at fear of being destitute. If Liberal doctrines crept in over decades, could more biblical views be dripped back into the church over next few decades? I pray for them in the center of storm and for the hardened hearts causing it. Sad days.
@mikecrees9715 Agree it's a hard road our vicars take knowing that the only certainty is no certainty in housing, income. The word is pretty clear, but the world around them caring for us their flock is bumpy. Plus, when governing bodies amended and steered the word into new directions, they stood so firmly when taking on holy orders . Any vicar who thought of moving to Free Church of England will probably have to reconsider her/his options. In mean time CofE continue to make the word fit their worldview. Sad sad times for all. But we have the word and where that is, we still have hope. I pray for all involved and for heardened hearts in all camps.
@@stuartskooler hard times indeed. The trouble is I'm a bit late to Anglicanism. I grew up with a Pentecostal pastor for a dad, where we often had to pray not thanking God for his provision, but in faith that he would provide, later on spent 10 years in the Vineyard where church planting was something you did while you did a job, and likewise 10 years church planting in New frontiers which was similar. Once your church grew to the size where you absolutely had to employ someone, you did. There were very few ready made parishes or churches to just walk in to. No stipends, pensions or houses with the job. Yet look around at the churches that are growing in the UK. I often wonder if the whole model is just wrong and based in a historical era that has passed. Maybe it's time to get back to these basics. Yes, the workman is worth his wage and all that, but you have to do the work first I think rather than expecting it on a plate.
Agree bud, similar to you I am new to faith, I love the word, read the bible and see Paul made tents to fund his ministry. Don't know much about planting. In UK we have many old churches that are empty it's like the estate and parish system bare no resemblance to the people who live within the boundaries. Most people work, we know and live in the world. Our pastors, Vicars, priests are our shephards, it's hard for them. But maybe that's part of their journey? Can't recall many of the church fathers having it easy. I pray that all involved can find peace. I love Father,Son and holy spirit, also bit fearful as well. It's how we as people muck up and over complicate his word.
Losing one's role, one's job, one's home, even one's culture. That happens to everyone who leaves the mission field after years of service abroad. Bless Brett and his family, may he find the same grace and humility many have found over the last 2000 years. "Rejoice, I say it again, rejoice."

We are fortunate in the U.K. so far, as there is still a wide choice of churches to choose from, as God leads us. As I have grown up in my faith, I have found areas of my faith grow and develop. 30 years as C of E, 30 years Baptist, last 10 years Pentecostal. Not saying it’s the right way, but it’s been a good growing process for me. Go where the spirit leads, is all I can suggest.

I would imagine that a fair few Anglicans would be happy to remain going to ‘church’ in preference to a community gathering, where anything could be established as a doctrine. My prayer for the people of the UK. The Anglican tradition is a beautiful and rich form of walking with God. But the CoE is on the wrong path. No church movement is perfect. But I support the Global South and US Anglican churches decision to no longer be in communion with the UK. Here in South Africa we have our own challenges so pray for us too please.
In such a case as the body of Christ in this situation the family of God considering his wife's condition should at least try helping him by at least housing him and his family so he can get on his feet again and continue the work of God

I was working as a cleaner and they said I wasn't cleaning properly and sacked me so I just kicked over a bucket of dirty water and walked out, didn't bother me at all. Someone must be in a position to let the country know what is happening in the church. The Archbishop has abandoned the church and his flock. The church has fallen apart. We need pastoral guidance. There is none. Who can advise us of the truth of both the Church of England/Anglican and the Free Church of England.
God's ministers must be faithful to the Word of God. Choose what is right and don't hang on to a manse or a stipend. Step out in faith. The Lord will provide. Is Rev Dan still in the C of E?
There needs to be an investigation into this sacking and the person responsible. Seems like a case of narcissistic envy spite and deliberate malice. It’s also brought a lot of negative attention to the organization that sacked him and alarmed those who didn’t know too much about it. This person Fenwick needs to be removed as Fr Murphy is not the only victim of this person
Reminds me of actress Noele Gordon, she helped get a new tv company off the ground, sat on the tv company's board of directors, and went to the USA to study daytime tv, a daily soap was created especially with her in mind in the soap's star role, the tv company she helped get off the ground produced the daily soap, and due to her and her character's popularity in the soap, the soap attracted a regular 15 plus million, then in 1981 they decided to sack her, after many years with the tv company, (plus 17 years in the soap), she recieved no explanation, just recieved a letter saying 'all good things come to an end'. I guess what i saying is the way Rev.Brett has been treated goes on everywhere, and has done for a while now.

Praying for Brett and his family and giving what we can financially. True believers need to get behind this man of God. I believe the actions of this bishop are politically motivated and unbelievably evil. The saying "the church is the only army that shoots its own wounded" is sadly true.
Maybe it would be better to make the congregation independent. Move to a house church until a building can be sourced. A 'tent making' job to try and build some stability for the family. This is the type of pastor my dad was. God will provide, he really will. For both Rev Brett's family and for his congregation. I am praying.
The CofE is a state church with many curious systems the other Anglican churches in the UK don't have the peculiarities of the roles in the CofE which many who work or worship in the CofE don't even fully understand.

Rev Brett is a truly godly man who has prospered with God blessing his ministry. From 2 to 50 members at Emmanual Morecambe in just one year. A thriving outreach to homeless folk and others, and a church family who love him and his family dearly, are reeling from this attack. So sudden. So uncalled for. It appears he is one in a long line of others who have also been cancelled by this bishop. Praying for him and his family.

Brett really has put his heart, soul and energy into Emmanuel since he's been there and, each time I have visited, his faith and optimism, his cheery welcome and acceptance of all God's people have never been absent. As a former minister in the FCE, I can say that the said Bishop is a wolf and a hireling, as described by Jesus in John chapter 10.
More than 35 ministers have already left in the last 5 years, all directly saying he is the cause. His legacy will be remembered as someone who destroyed the denomination.

Whenever we watch your UA-cams you remind us of the frustrations Brett suffered. Whenever I look at Brett I understand why you don't take that leap of faith.
The letter,:
Upto about a year ago my wife and I have attended the Church of England. We stopped attending over a year ago as, in common with so many, believed that the CofE was not properly proclaiming the biblical word of God and becoming increasingly involved in "woke".
Through his on line ministry we were introduced to Brett Murphy and decided to attend his church, Emmanuel, on a regular basis. This involves us in a round trio of almost 100 miles each time we attend.
We watched your proceedings and felt that there was not a proper balance. Nobody had asked the congregation of Emmanuel though it was alluded to but with little conviction.
We noted you had understandable difficulty in pronouncing "Morecambe". This indicated to us that you are probably know nothing of its location, history and social problems. It is important you are aware of these and the way they affect Emmanuel.
Morecambe is a Victorian seaside resort which owed its then prosperity to tourism. This was true until about the sixties when cheap air travel made it possible for its traditional visitors to fly to the resorts of sunny Spain and its guaranteed weather. This spelt the decline of Morecambe, as with other such resorts, to what it is today, one of the most financially depressed areas in the UK.
Emmanuel did not escape. It is a tumbledown church with its garden growing on the roof much to the detriment of the masonry. The east door can not be opened for fear it would cause the tower to collapse.
This is what confronted Brett (and his wife) on his arrival early last year when he reopened the church, following Covid, with a congregation of two elderly people, the last of the previous Emmanuel congregation.
Since that time he has built up the congregation to be larger than the congregation of the leafy church we left which has existed for well over 100 hundred years.
Unlike any other church I know Emmanuels doors are not locked shut for six and a half days a week, open only for Sunday morning services. Its doors are open everyday. It provides a community cafe and shop which caters for those without hope. The first Sunday of each month there is a "parish lunch" to which all are invited. Several attend the lunch who do not attend the service but amazingly, because of the fellowship offered, start to come to church because they feel cared for and belong. It is an amazing thing to witness coming from a suburban parish.
I could go on and talk about the young girl that had been stabbed that fell into church whilst we were having a reenactment of a passover supper (something we have never been to following 50 years church attendance) She became a regular member of the congregation and openly spoke of the love she received which she had not received anywhere before. The homeless he personally takes under his wing and helps to find new accommodation most of whom join the fellowship of the congregation.
During all your deliberations the only words we recognised were "Brett Murphy". The way you said them were of an ordinary cleric which you would find in any parish. The way we heard them was of a devout Christian working tirelessly during each day (and night) administering the word of the Lord with such enthusiasm and purpose that causes the congregation to continue increase in size.
One is reminded of the gospel story where the Pharasees were criticising Jesus for performing miracles on the Sabbath. Brett (and his wife) are quietly and without notoriety performing miracles in Morecambe. He seems to be receiving the same treatment.
The future of the Church depends on people like Brett and his wife. Your lack of support will cause there to be no gospel believing churches for us or anybody else to attend, no matter the distance.
The wishes of the congregation must be respected.

@mikecrees9715 Agree it's a hard road our vicars take knowing that the only certainty is no certainty in housing, income. The word is pretty clear, but the world around them caring for us their flock is bumpy. Plus, when governing bodies amended and steered the word into new directions, they stood so firmly when taking on holy orders . Any vicar who thought of moving to Free Church of England will probably have to reconsider her/his options. In mean time CofE continue to make the word fit their worldview. Sad sad times for all. But we have the word and where that is, we still have hope. I pray for all involved and for heardened hearts in all camps.
@@stuartskooler hard times indeed. The trouble is I'm a bit late to Anglicanism. I grew up with a Pentecostal pastor for a dad, where we often had to pray not thanking God for his provision, but in faith that he would provide, later on spent 10 years in the Vineyard where church planting was something you did while you did a job, and likewise 10 years church planting in New frontiers which was similar. Once your church grew to the size where you absolutely had to employ someone, you did. There were very few ready made parishes or churches to just walk in to. No stipends, pensions or houses with the job. Yet look around at the churches that are growing in the UK.
I often wonder if the whole model is just wrong and based in a historical era that has passed.
Maybe it's time to get back to these basics.

Agree bud, similar to you I am new to faith, I love the word, read the bible and see Paul made tents to fund his ministry. Don't know much about planting. In UK we have many old churches that are empty it's like the estate and parish system bare no resemblance to the people who live within the boundaries. Most people work, we know and live in the world. Our pastors, Vicars, priests are our shephards, it's hard for them. But maybe that's part of their journey? Can't recall many of the church fathers having it easy. I pray that all involved can find peace.
I love Father,Son and holy spirit, also bit fearful as well. It's how we as people muck up and over complicate his word.
Losing one's role, one's job, one's home, even one's culture. That happens to everyone who leaves the mission field after years of service abroad. Bless Brett and his family, may he find the same grace and humility many have found over the last 2000 years. "Rejoice, I say it again, rejoice."

As I have grown up in my faith, I have found areas of my faith grow and develop.

Not saying it’s the right way, but it’s been a good growing process for me.

My prayer for the people of the UK. The Anglican tradition is a beautiful and rich form of walking with God. But the CoE is on the wrong path. No church movement is perfect. But I support the Global South and US Anglican churches decision to no longer be in communion with the UK. Here in South Africa we have our own challenges so pray for us too please.
In such a case as the body of Christ in this situation the family of God considering his wife's condition should at least try helping him by at least housing him and his family so he can get on his feet again and continue the work of God

I'm Netty Nettles. I had the sack once. I was working as a cleaner and they said I wasn't cleaning properly and sacked me so I just kicked over a bucket of dirty water and walked out, didn't bother me at all. Someone must be in a position to let the country know what is happening in the church. The Archbishop has abandoned the church and his flock. The church has fallen apart. We need pastoral guidance. There is none. Who can advise us of the truth of both the Church of England/Anglican and the Free Church of England.
God's ministers must be faithful to the Word of God. Choose what is right and don't hang on to a manse or a stipend. Step out in faith. The Lord will provide. Is Rev Dan still in the C of E?
The C of E seems suicidal at present, the Rev Brett Murphy is delightful, and has clearly worked so hard to bring St Emmanuels Church to life.

Seems like a case of narcissistic envy spite and deliberate malice.
It’s also brought a lot of negative attention to the organization that sacked him and alarmed those who didn’t know too much about it.
This person Fenwick needs to be removed as Fr Murphy is not the only victim of this person

Reminds me of actress Noele Gordon, she helped get a new tv company off the ground, sat on the tv company's board of directors, and went to the USA to study daytime tv, a daily soap was created especially with her in mind in the soap's star role, the tv company she helped get off the ground produced the daily soap, and due to her and her character's popularity in the soap, the soap attracted a regular 15 plus million, then in 1981 they decided to sack her, after many years with the tv company, (plus 17 years in the soap), she recieved no explanation, just recieved a letter saying 'all good things come to an end'. I guess what i saying is the way Rev.Brett has been treated goes on everywhere, and has done for a while now.
Now it is getting even worse, church name removed by Arch bishop Welby for community , no more bible study but walk in the park...
I would like to think a Christian ✝️ Landlord ( if He/ She is aware of the situation ) with multiple properties will gladly give Rev Brett a home until circumstances improve... ✝️ 🙏

Church hierarchies have been a problem from the start - read between the lines in the NT.
Praying for Brett and his family and giving what we can financially. True believers need to get behind this man of God. I believe the actions of this bishop are politically motivated and unbelievably evil. The saying "the church is the only army that shoots its own wounded" is sadly true.

Yes, it is legal, but not recommended.

Maybe it would be better to make the congregation independent. Move to a house church until a building can be sourced. A 'tent making' job to try and build some stability for the family. This is the type of pastor my dad was. God will provide, he really will. For both Rev Brett's family and for his congregation. I am praying.
What an atrocious act of cowardice
The CofE is a state church with many curious systems the other Anglican churches in the UK don't have the peculiarities of the roles in the CofE which many who work or worship in the CofE don't even fully understand.

The Free Church of England (Bishop Fenwick) should not overshadow the Evangelical Connexion of the FCE. A safe place for those looking for Bible believing and Jesus exalting churches.
