  • From Metro Movietone Revues, Harry Rose, "Broadway's Favorite Master of Ceremonies," singing the charming novelty number, "Frankfurter Sandwiches."
This clip goes to show that camp was not invented in the 60s.

A clip of this is included in the opening-credits montage for "The Sunshine Boys" (1975). It's nice to be able to finally see where it comes from!

    Answers the age-old question: Is a hot-dog a sandwich?

No. A "Frankfurter Sandwich" is a Hot Dog. I'm sorry if it's confusing.

It's a 1930s song about hotdogs, but they were callled frankfurter sandwiches back then. Terminology was different back then, another example was women being called dames

@@ElliotNesterman I was kiddin, dude. If someone saw a really plain boring white guy they'd say, "I've never seen anything straighter in my entire life," and everyone would laugh.

-@@stevenboxleitner4612 Curiously, while Harry Rose may have been Broadway's favorite MC he must not have played well in Peoria because the next year he was replace by Jack Pepper. A little titbit: Pepper was briefly married to Ginger Rogers, 1929-31.
