I dont know what it is.....whatever it is that they put on it when they made it, when it get a bit non sticky I rinse it off with warm water to get the lint off and let it air dry and it is sticky enough to stay in place again.

As you've probably already been told, imperfect is more interesting. The other is too much work and artificial.
