Oh my goodness, I thank you ssooo much for this......I never thought I would like hand sewing until I hand sewn my first binding and every since I have craved hand sewing.. I am machine piecing a quilt for my new gr dtr and I want to hand quilt it... where every stitch is a stitch of love... I have been practicing and have watched ALL your videos... I am thankful and yet I am sorry for the pain it causes you to do something that pleases and relaxes you...
Thanks for the update! I am so glad that you are feeling better. How's Teddy? Congrats on Teddy's Quilt winning 2 major awards. I hope you are planning on this one going into competition. It's a beauty. xoxo from Arizona.
Tim Latimer, I was so happy to hear that you planned to do trapunto. That will make it glorious. I'm sure it will do well in compition. I know you can sure use the prize money. xoxo from Arizona.
Happy thanksgiving! Nice to see you quilting again! Meloxican has dine wonders for me,,, anti inflammatory for my Arthritis and degenerative disk n bone spurs...as well as gabapentin. I don't like to take medicine, unless I have to. I can tell a world of difference! I love Hobbs tuscany wool batting! Thanks for all you do. I do think (personally) that heavily machine quilted quilts are hard, but not the hand quilted ones. I also agree on the batting.
With this mike problem, I'm hoping we are in store for some equipment testing videos. Yippee! Any time I can sit and quilt with you is a joy! xoxo from Arizona.
Try different creams to see if you can get some relief from the pain. I am currently using MM cream (it has a low THC and can be bought from health food stores here in Canada). I was trying everything from WD 40 (nursing homes use that in our area) to arthritis creams. Moringa powder is said to help with inflammation. You do such fine handwork, it is a pleasure to watch.
I am having pain in my thumb, in the same place as yours. We should call it quilters thumb, hehe. Because of my age my doctor said it was arthritis. When I told him I didn't have arthritis. He ordered an x-ray which came back clear of arthritis. So now I have tendonitis. 😣 Using pliers when I remember gives me some relief. xoxo from Arizona.
Happy thanksgiving, Tim. The quilt is beautiful!! I like it when you show the process. Where do you get Inspiration for your projects? I’m thinking of starting a hand quilted piece, sometimes the hardest part is getting started. Thank you fir sharing hope to see more.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! that is true, getting started is hard....inspiration comes from so many places, I have been quilting for about 11 years and I am at the point where everything I see seems to have some quilt inspiration in it. This one is a combination of my garden roses and the snowflakes that I make .... and add in a bit of Wedgwood china jasperware....
Tim Latimer why oh why did you tell me about the China patterns??? All threw dinner I’m looking at the China. Lol lol. I wish I could show you some of my work. We have a lot in common. Have a great day
When you are finished with this quilt, can you tell me how to hand bind a quilt? I'm so used to attaching the binding with the machine on the back and hand finishing the front. I would like to see how you do it by hand.
your sound is over modulating. The original sound is distorting what you are saying in the video. That looks like it is a lot of work compared to what you do on machines. You make machine quilting look easy to a beginner like me.
I tried a new mic because in past videos people have said it was to quiet .....guess this was not the solution but it does sound better if you turn the volume down
LOL the new mic works well, too well. I think a lot of people turn their sound down because of the booming commercials that lead most videos. I don't know why they do that when they already have your attention. No need to pound the sound to grab your attention when you already have it, poor marketing on youtube's behalf in my view. I can even hear the clock in the back ground, so the mic works very well. Can't wait to hear some of the machines with the new mic. I think the mic gain in the controls would be the one to turn down, but not sure. I recently got tempted by a singer vs2 like your 1887 rare one, but I have to many machines right now. Just got a UFA and a dogwood decaled singer vs2/27 with the style 12 tin and attachment instructions. I got a 1877 singer 12 and a style 14 set as well, all within the time of your last video lol. I need therapy or a converted barn ROFL. I hope the arthritic pain goes soon. I have a bad back and winter is horrible this year.
I will have to look at how I can change the setting to get a better result ( I can take apart a vintage sewing machine and put it back together no problem but new technology escapes me LOL) sounds like your collection of machines is wonderful! Happy stitching and hope your back is better
I wish you would come back. You are the reason I started hand quilting. You have so much to offer.
Do you know what happened with Tim? I love his work and have not seen any new stuff for a couple of years.
Nope
Just beautiful . Thank you for the video .
