You don't need to extend the beams. The "cope" feature takes care of that. Also if you are not gonna do any other type of steel connection, you should set the distance of these cope connections to 0, so there's no gap in between.
Great tutorial.... One thing i discovered that wasnt covered was the roof pitch.........(top chord) Finally worked out that this adjusts when the profile height is adjusted .,. 🙂
Drop everything about unpinning and dragging the extend. Go up to the Steel Menu and there is a COPE option there that will create a connection between the two pieces. You have to select then CTRL select the 2nd item. Then hit ENTER. And if you change the height of the Truss the angle of the COPE will change too.
Hi there. I have a question with regards to the connection between 3 web members and the bottom chord. how do i configure the distance between the three web members?
Nice tutorial. Seems a lot easier though to make an extrusion and sort it out although that doesnt work for the flanges etc. That would take 1/5th of time and would probably serve equally well for most purposes.
@Balkan Architect - at 10:10 -I am very curious - why are you doing manual extension? It feels like cheating while I am watching this tutorial - instead you should do beam extension with some weld function that properly extends missing piece to projected piece and adds angle and welds together with 2 or 3+ point contact weld. I don't think so that your manual extending approach are usable in real construction archi plans. Just imagine - how real bridge could look in real life with manual extension. Anyway - thank you about nice tutorial - you got good tutorials and I suggest for everyone to watch it. Kind Regards! Big LIKE from Me! :))
What are you doing? If you extend the beams it will look preetier but it wont work in any way, you will fuck up the analytical model, the mass, the volume... the WHOLE project will be unusable
VLAD can draw Truss faster weeth Crayon....and looks much bey-tterrr. ANd not een annoying way (Cope thees, cope that, extend thees, cope thees, extend that, cope that....so much for doing things the easy, automated vayy. Eeesss how you Amerikan-ski say? "Work weeth the hard, not the smart." Just use AutoCAD...much faster, much easier.

It would have been nice for Autodesk to add the connection into the family.
OMG ur reply saved me!!!
But i cant select structural frame even i hit tab button
Thank you so much for the tutorial. It is going to help a lot with my finishing project for my studies
thanks! your my best teacher
thanks! its very useful!
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial

Is there a way to do something like a truss system and stub some of them to make a truss package in revit?
Thanks from Mex.
why my revit dont have thats family truss, where i can download it?

Hey can you make a video on how to make a truss using AutoCAD software
Can you make a tutorial abou a house with hipped roof how to odo the wooden trusses????
Love from India 😍
How can I select the individual beam?? Thank you, for all you video by the way !!
I am using revit 2023, when i press Tab to select a single beam nothing happens!
Thank you !
Also, I wonder why they couldnt just automatically cope the items? It seems like nobody would like the original look
Doesn´t this mess up the analytical model?
This is first time i saw your face 😀
Where the cope function is i have "notch" ? any idea why this is plus IS this the function i should use for cutting a rafter end up to a ridge?
Amazing! Thank you!!!
Nice!
It was really helpful.
Can you do a full video explaining the joints as well ?
Hi I have a full course on steel connections, you can find it on Patreon, also it will be available soon on my new website 🙂

Very informative
Can you finish by adding connections and loads and send tlo robot structures for analysis
tanx for videos
Very helpful
Do you have free revit families for truss that you can share?
well done :)

I used this method to create a wooden truss. But during coping, the members would not join
How downlode revit software i want link

..для чего изначально системные семейства ферм сделаны так криво ??
what do you say?
