Why didn't you run sandpaper around the flywheel before installing new coils? I have found several that all I had to do is sandpaper both the coil and flywheel. Also since you are gonna replace the sparkplugs why not take them out so the motor turns easier?
I also normally put a thin coat of WD-40 on the flywheel and then wipe it down with a shop towel. I've never regretted the WD-40 either. One would think it would collect more dust, but apparently dust is less of a problem than rust is there!

I hate these bolts. Match book then double check with feeler cage. Knocking the rust off the flywheel helps. :)

Can 22hp Vtech Briggs coil run a 24hp Vtech Briggs?
I have this engine on a Craftsman riding mower. If it will run until the engine heats up then kills does that sound like the coils?
Stick a spare spark plug in the coil wire the moment it dies and spark test it. About the only way to be sure.
Did you figure this out? Having same problem. My coils were reading over 5k ohms and I think this is my issue.
@@ajdrew252 it turned out to be the gas cap. The vent on the cap was clogged so it was only running long enough until the back pressure would build and then kill. I tested it by loosening the gas cap so that air could enter
Great video, thanks. I have a craftsman DYT 4000 with a 24 hp. OHV Intek engine. Starts good, runs good, but once in a while it will almost shut off, hesitate, for a split second while i'm mowing. It never shuts down or anything, but it feels like it wants to, like i said for a split second. Any suggestions? Thanks
If it is "only" doing it well mowing. Then my bet would be a failing safety switch to do with the deck. Or if it has electric PTO could be a failing pto button. On the mechanical side check all your deck spindles for bearing noise. in the past I have seen bearing start to go and randomly seize to the point it almost kills the engine then break free.

Question! Ihave a 22hp B&S, power drops when pto is engaged. Have replaced both coils, fuel pump, carb and plugs! Any idea what Im missing?
Pull your plugs and see if one is burning cleaner than the other. If one has more carbon build up, than you have an issue with that cylinder. Or you could have a poor ignition coil. At times you'll receive a faulty ign. coil.
