The Cambodian community appreciates you Joe and Darren. Thanks for spreading the word on how delicious Cambodian food is. It’s often overlooked and underrated. My Filipino husband loves Cambodian food.
it's actually called "Ko-Lang-Phnom" which means cow climbs mountain. Here in Phnom Penh, we eat it with a dome-ish grill and the meat hang onto the dome which is why its called cow climbs mountain. We eat it with sweet spicy fish sauce and a fermented bean saunce with garlic and chili also we put a F ton of butter lol Its like the perfect weekend food to share with friends and enjoy some beer,
Cambodian food is so underrated. California has the largest Khmer population outside of Cambodia . California itself has a large diverse group of Asians and yet nobody from other Asian groups tries out Khmer cuisine.
You can roll 'em in rice noodle papers and make spring rolls as well. Squid, prawns, fish balls, seafood in general, meat balls & whatever other veggies you prefer can be added also. But it is definitely about the sauce.
Yo Joe, you probably already know this, but there's a big Cambodian culture in Long Beach. Lots of restaurants are there. Its pretty much the heart of Cambodia for the west coast.
OMG yall are too funny! Pretty good job repping us Khmer folks and food. :) What truly matters is that you united with these guys. Collaboration makes the world so much better. Can't wait to tune in when you finally travel with them :) Thanks Joe! P.S. Damn! That's a nice crib!
Darien , you should of made thuk pra hok for the dipping sauce for the butter pan. And the original dipping sauce for it is, Thuk pra hok. It's bomb!!! But any dipping sauce works. Love that you are trying more Cambodian food Joe!!
Hey Joe, it's good to know that you care about your followers and care to read comments and reply. Thanks for being who you are and making the world better
Yeee!!!! I vote that you guys should visit south east Asia for sure! I have never seen people vlog about Cambodian cuisine so that would be nice to see!
We here from Stockton CA call it Butter Yahon. Best with Prohok sauce and nom bon jok. My kids love it with Hoisin sauce. You can also eat with seafoods too. 😋 Thank you for sharing. ❤️
I just ate and now I’m craving this! In Vietnamese, it’s “bò chiên bơ” which translates to butter fried beef. Try it with vermicelli noodles and veggies or wrap it into a spring roll. Looks good! 🤤
grew up eating this at my cousins house, would roll them up into spring rolls and dip them in vietnamese nouc mam. love the dynamic between u and ur friends joe, keep vlogging please!!
I think everyone does their sauce differently. Normally we smash garlic and pepper together in a mortar and then add sugar, fish sauce, msg and lime together so you get like a thick consistency not too watery sauce. Some people eat it with prahok sauce too. But other than that its so good! Try Cambodian hot pot too!
Sauce I’m used to with this meal is crush red peppers with and garlic with some sugar, salt and a little msg. Then adding lime sauce with the fish sauce.
Hahaha here in Cambodia we called it Beef over mountain The OG source ingredients: Fermented tofu Lime Garlics Chili Sugar But don’t get me wrong I would love to try his recipes
We in the Philippines also have that kind of sauce its 70% fish sauce (patis) and 30% calamansi (Philippine cute lemon) or lemon and chilies optional,,,,, we dip fried or grilled fish, steamed veggies on it and its like a common sauce in every household that sauce gives the kick on the food 😋
Oh wow very similar to how we make this in Viet households. Bo chien/xao bo. We cook it the same way on the griddle. We also pronounce butter the same way.
Come to Oakland there's a place called "Cambodian Street Food" as a Cambodian its the only Cambodian food place i can recommend because the other places taste like they make food for the Gai Lo lol
Need some prahok sauce with your Buuurhhhh! Lets offroad, park, and Sambo bbq. And there’s legit cambo food in LB and a few spots in Cerritos, OC, Chinatown and SGV.
Mmm. Haha yall just cross contaminating with same chopsticks! Heck yaa. Yeak sauce! Next time try beef anchovies and maybe some prahok! mmmm Our faves!
Yeah Southeast Asians share similar foods. For example papaya salad is made in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. I love Thai and Lao papaya salad it's spicy, sweet and salty.
I really appreciate this Joe. Not many people mention Cambodian food, so to see this makes me happy 😭🤌🏽✨
Big facts!

It is called "beurre", which actually means "butter" in french...since Cambodia was colonized by French Colony back then.
OHHH that makes sense!
Exactly
It also sounds like " bơ " which is Vietnamese for butter, guess the French influence was strong.
@@JoeJitsukawa can Indian food get some love too?
@@Anonymous5353 Just like Banh Mi a vietnamese sandwhich is a meld of French and Vietnamese cuisine
