Italian Xabi. Very underrated deep lying playmaker in the 90s was the main reason Milan and Italy got really far in the UCL and World Cup 94.

Albertini is easily one of the greatest midfield players ever.. that AC MIlan team is one of best squads ever to grace the game of football and overall Italia had best players in the world during 1990s and by far best league. That a player of Albertini's caliber on such an amazing national team got denied a World Cup only makes that trophy so much less valuable in the current year.

Thanks for this Barbosa. Someone long overdue for more attention. Such a great player but often overlooked because for much of his career Milan used him in an unglamorous role. He was often more eyecatching for Italy where he was given more freedom to attack.
In 2000 he was the best player on the park in theEuros final and the primary reason the match went to extra time.
