If this truly is the new truck I’m impressed. It still looks good and you know it’s a Pete. If the cab and bunk are less cramped it might be my first big truck

Classic hoods are my favorite, but I like 389 and 379 better
That 589 is a sharp looking Peterbilt definitely different but still has the old school look

@@joekane5029 it could've been a lot worse.
Peterbilt could've pushed the 567 as the replacement to the 389 so at least they're keeping most of the traditional style that most of loved.

Remember the beautiful big dash may be gone. It's gonna have the same Interior and dash as a 579 probably.

Been driving since 1982. Drove 359, 377,379. All nice but it is 2024, 589 nice truck. And in 2047 when it looks like a space ship it’ll be nice too.
Plenty of room inside the cab. Definitely an upgrade if your over the road and like to have room

As someone who has been through Denton and the parking lot where that picture was taken and maybe looked around it and stood on its step, I can tell you it’s what’s coming this summer.
Does it have the same Interior as the 579? I assume it does. I always liked the 389 dash. 😔
@@jansen7640 it looks like a KW 990 dash if you’ve ever seen those. I think the cab is kinda similar to the 990 minus the hood and stuff.
It's not perfect but it still holds a lot of the traditional style that the 389 had and I think it's a good replacement.
Sure it's not the same as the 389 but hell I'm glad we still keep the straight hood that we all love.
Better than the w990 in my opinion although I do like the w990 myself
are those air cleaners partially fitted into the cowl?
The 589 is probably a better truck but the 389 is just beautiful, looks much cooler.

But i like the 389 and its long hood pride and class editions from 2014 and some manufactured in 2015

Reminds me of when western star changed their cab in the late 90's. Has a similar look
It's a good looking truck still keeping with what pete is known for ,the cab is wider I hope this is the finished product.

If that isn’t the 589 then someone did a dang good job merging the 389 hood on to a 567 cab and sleeper and made it look factory
I was thinking it looked a little photoshopped. A guy from rush said it would be the bigger cab marginally different hood, more like a short hood 389, and breathers would be like the w990. He was just guessing so maybe this is it, who knows🤷♂️

@@drewl4762 if the 589 looks like the photoshopped pics then I think it'll be a good replacement since it'll hold most of the traditional style minus a couple details here and there but it does a better job capturing the style than the w990
Agree. Looks to be 567 cab with a 388 hood looks short Pete is trying to keep the hood. Because if not. W9 will have all the customers. Either way same company
Most likely its photoshoped. But probably not too far from what it will be i think.

If that is the real 589, and the predecessor of the 389, it’s a very clean design. it looks more like a 359 with a 389 style if that makes sense
This would definitely be a great move if Peterbilt does this. As someone who has a 2014 389 glider with the 12.7 and a 2006 Columbia 14.0L S60, I'm also a fan of the non emissions trucks!! If only I had the mechanical skills to work on these things myself because GOOD mechanics are impossible to find, and rates/fuel/op costs don't allow for ANY downtime or repair invoices.
What your doing is the way to go and dont worry about bring up the rear becouse when the ones out front fall you be in a perfect spot to pick up the peices

The new peterbilts with the 4th edition of the Paccar motor are getting 9 plus miles per gallon!! That's a game changer.
I was expecting worse, but glad I scored my 389.

I saw a Pete at my company's yard in Denton a few months ago that really caught my eye, finding out, it's the 567, with the 80 inch ultraloft sleeper... it was a gorgeous kinda, burnt orange color.... really beautiful truck.

Hey Tim Bryan here from Williams Lake , BC . As far as the new 359 Pete , I'll take the rooster every day of the week . I drove truck up here for 27 years before hanging it up , then ran heavy equipment for 10 years before getting hurt on the job and ending my working days . By the way I love Braxtons 79 F250 , had my dads till it was to far gone for my budget , the salt on the roads is thick , would love to find another one and fix it up like dads , he would get a thrill looking down from heaven , keep on keepin my friend
It still looks great Tim! If you cut off the hood from in-front of the breather it kinda looks like a Western Star which is Also a great truck ! Great Video 👍

We just picked up a glider Coronado and I’ve been driving it for a few months now. Man these trucks are badass. Good looking and a 12.7 Detroit such a good combo. And 6 mpg’s

Looks great, reminds me of the 359. Obviously there are a ton of differences, but it looks similar in size. Maybe found my new dream truck, if only I could get a real non digital dash!

I like it. Looks like the cab may be a little taller than the 389, but we shall see. I like the single piece windshield too.
Hi Tim, I know you said after a time you could no longer find the truck, an easier way is to do a reverse image Google search, obviously you need a picture so the first instance you see a truck take a screenshot and do a reverse Google search to help you find your truck. You will probably know this but great way to find something. 👍
Tim that Truck is sweet it looks good to me I don't particularly like the Burgendy or Maroon but that PETEBILT is sweet it reminds me of your 389 PETE

It looks good honestly. What I'm wondering is if it will come with the cab configurations of the 579/567, specifically with the 80" ultraloft sleepers but those will probably be extremely heavy. I personally think if you can have a hood with the cab space of an aero styled truck, that's a win-win.

Just got told last week the 589 will be my next truck . I'm liking the looks of it so far . Kina puts you in the mind of a western star Lowmax . Company leases our trucks . We getting 2 389s and looking like about 5 589s . Just the way the lease falls . Anything will be better than the 21 cascadia I'm in now . I have never hated a truck so bad in my life . And been driving going on 28 years and have driven some junk . But would take any of them over this cascadia

If your planning to eventually swap a Detroit into it, go for the cost savings of the pacjunk motor. Just do your swap before it hits 500k miles.
Won’t pass inspection with an older engine has to be same year of the truck now

I m glad that I’m not the only one noticed the hood it’s shorter and looks more squared or maybe it’s just me and the doors look familiar in shaped to another truck but I can see the door shape and size in this picture but wonder if it’s coming standard with all that epa crap tim hates

It’s better than what I was expecting for sure. It’s no 389 for sure, but it looks better than the W990.
I love my W990, but if the boss gave me the option of a new truck this might be it.
For some reason the W990 looks awkward like the old Dodge Bighorn… like too much fat hood for the small cab

Actually the hood is designed quite well especially considering that the 2.1 meter cab is wider than the cab used on the W900.
I drive a W990 and I remember when I had the chance to actually sit in one at the Mid American Truck Show and saying to myself, "that's a lot of hood " as I looked out of the windshield.
@@waynenorbreyjr9638 I’ve seen a few 990’s but with either the Texas square bumper or the taper style but none with the logger. That logger bumper is really heavy duty
That's a nice ride long lean and mean the breather is huge and the truck is boxy but nice and yes the cab looks like a coffin sleeper but it's nice

I like Coronados because they are aerodynamic and look good and they already prove they are good.
I love the Pete’s but I also really like the Western Star 4900 series.

Truthfully old split window cab is so much better and makes it look like a traditional truck.
I definitely didn't like the breathers sticking above the hood. We got a new one in 2019 and I've been very disappointed in the quality. We've had to replace lots of odds and ends. The drive train has been excellent but everything else from the tanks leaking around the welds, to replacing the window switch for the eighth time lol.
Ya, what the heck is up with Pete's Window Switches?... If hafta "Rock" mine to the side sometimes for them to make contact to get the windows up or down.......
@@jasonbuck489 same with mine. They only last a couple weeks before they go out. I'm on my 8th one. You have trouble with the door latching? Mine won't completely latch unless it's parked perfectly flat ground. The digital milage, hrs, temp constantly goes blank. Both fuel tanks leak around the welds on top. I could go on and on lol.

One thing for sure, you can't beat the jake brake horsepower that a x15 puts down.
I like all the peterbilts and I really like the 2024 peterbitts but I really like the older peterbilts

I like it. Has that same long hood vibe but with a bigger cab. I regularly drive 579s and 365s and the 579 cab is much more comfortable. The narrow cabs look great but there's just so little room in them.
I think the red one has a wider cab and probably the new interior.nice
