Agree. Looks to be 567 cab with a 388 hood looks short Pete is trying to keep the hood. Because if not. W9 will have all the customers. Either way same company
This would definitely be a great move if Peterbilt does this. As someone who has a 2014 389 glider with the 12.7 and a 2006 Columbia 14.0L S60, I'm also a fan of the non emissions trucks!! It looks good honestly. What I'm wondering is if it will come with the cab configurations of the 579/567, specifically with the 80" ultraloft sleepers but those will probably be extremely heavy. I personally think if you can have a hood with the cab space of an aero styled truck, that's a win-win.

As a former driver, I’ve always been a fan of visibility..the best visibility truck I drove was the Kenworth T600. It’s hard to tell from the picture but I’d put visibility about a 5 on a scale of 10. The rear view mirrors still are in a problematic position, hiding traffic behind the mirror at angled intersections. I’m a Kenworth fan, at least in part because as a 5 year old the view of a Kenworth cabover through the back window of my family’s Country Squire made me want to drive one. I’m also a Cummins fan. I’ve driven 6 hundred thousand miles with few problems with Cummins. Detroit around 80 thousand! And Caterpillar around 20 thousand. I never drove a Cummins I didn’t like. All that said, I’m a huge fan of Gentry and Sons, and whatever they like they need to use. It’s much less expensive in the long run to use the same equipment. Like the truck I don't like the full windshield but stay away from the x-15 motors they are junk you will not be happy and I hate to say that about a Cummins because I love them keep up the good work man you came a long way I'll watch your video since day one
From the picture it looks like the same cab as the 567 but with the short 389 hood. I’ll bet it’s more angled if you look at it head on to meet the contours of the new cab. This is why the air cleaners are skinnier and taller to give the same filtering. And if it is the 567 cab maybe a buyer of a 567 can get the same air cleaners. I do like the looks of the 567 . It’s the closest to the classic Thanks for the report
For what my opinions are worth based on 30 years as a single truck owner-operator and 10 years as a company driver. Run a mixed fleet. Years ago there were entire trucking companies shutdown that had one model of truck throughout their fleet...steering gear issue sidelined them for months. Contact Mitch at Frontier Specialized in Jacksonville and ask him about his new Peterbilt experiences. He's been around for a long time. Had Mack mixers with his concrete business. Old school is still the best school. Just like any vehicle, don't buy something the first year it's out. Let others go thru all the recalls. My last truck and something I would buy today would be a T800 KW. Rides like sitting at home on the couch. Super visibility to the front, just right width in the cab, tight cab, set back axle give great maneuverability, lightweight. Four axis heated aero mirrors with front fender mirrors. Full tandem Minimiser fenders. Long slide Fontaine and a pintle hitch. Turn on speed limiter to 65 for a company truck. Keep the left door closed and let those fast trucks pass multiple times all day long. At end of the day they will be at the fuel island when you pull in. I got everyplace I needed to be on time at 62 max.
Peterbilt tech here buddy. I am Paccar certified and have been to the factory three times and most recently I was there in September 2022. I am here to tell you that the truck that you have pictured isn’t the 589. To me it looks like a 389 with a 2 piece windshield. That is an option. When I was touring the factory in September I was told the 589 is going to be a 2.1 meter cab and the 1.9 meter cabs were going away. I was told with the bigger cab there were be no external chrome air cleaners. The truck will look like a 567 with a longer aluminum hood. Please read!! Thanks

It still looks great Tim! If you cut off the hood from in-front of the breather it kinda looks like a Western Star which is Also a great truck ! Great Video 👍
The 389 shouldn't be complaining too much, the truck looks really good and I drive a W990 and I've loved it since it was announced back in 2018. My boss has a 389 and I was waiting to see what this 589 was going to look like. Peterbilt didn't do a dramatic change unlike what Kenworth had. I had to really look at the picture to really see the difference. The 389 guys should really like the wider cab and more space.
There is one place in Nebraska that still does "gliders", they come with an assembled title. They basically pull the X15 and repower it with a 3406. They can do it because of Nebraska state law allowing it
Tommy has plain White 280 wb.and a 13 speed automatic . It is a565 cum . 2950 tork . IT has a light package a drop visor ,dis k brakes on steer and drum on the rear . it might fit into what you are looking for it is 2022 model year .They put enough [ights and chrome on it to make it look good .
Tim I have to say, that new CM2450 is a hell of a lot better than that old ISX. They've worked out all the bugs with the Cummins it seems like. I have 120k on mine and zero issues so far. I take care of my stuff but I don't baby it either and she loves to pull. When I keep my foot out of it I average about 6.5 grossed out pulling a reefer
Have you looked into “assembled title” trucks? That is where you get a traditional truck take the engine out install a Detroit or whatever you want go to the BMV get a new serial number for truck with that motor in it that’s an assembled title.
I remember years ago when paccar was thinking about utilizing the curved windshield I personally do not care for it for two reasons, one it takes away from a traditional look, but the biggest thing for me is the higher cost of replacing flat sectional glass versus a complete windshield, I know with my W900L, once you have to replace the factory curved glass, the potential for leaks are greatly improved, I have Safe Auto do the windshield as they do a great job, there fast and do the job correct, if there are issues, they correct it pronto, plus they work great with the insurance companies as well. At least this truck has the traditional long hood, hate the battery and tool boxes as they just don't look right but I guess they gotta have some place to cram all the emissions garbage in. Would be nice if DEF is still a requirement at the time of sales, if they could make a split tank that way it eliminates the DEF tank as that is ugly, but we can't change progress. Like the Kenworth cab, they will still have the split window available but list it as a severe duty cab for vocational chassis options only, I tried opting for the split window in the Kenworth and was told only severe duty trucks have the option and the older "L" cabs surprisingly were not adaptable or cost effective to make a change over. If you do get these, change out those goofy headlights and mount traditional fender turn signals and maybe the lower front/side mounted marker light like the 70's style fenders, definitely need large 37" grover air horns on the roof, trucks look incomplete without big horns just my opinion old school factory paint scheme and no CUMM-APART motors, total disaster with sensors and throwing rods due to weak cranks.
Loggers I know are now running W990 and new Western Star day cabs. For emissions motors the Detroit does better than the X15 Cummins. That’s a 565/1850 x15 vs the equivalent in DD and gets better mileage. I just don’t think you want to pay the big bucks and suffer with an X15 and plan to trade before warranty is out.
Holy smokes son that is a beautiful Peterbilt I'd be happy to be driving it very nice Tim I'd buy it brother that 589 would look sexy with that bull hauler hooked to it for sure
I had a 2019 Peterbilt 579 with X15 565 and now drive a 2022 389 with the sand engine. I pull the same loads and same trailer and this 389 gets better mileage than the 579 did. About 5-10% better.
You need to check out flint creek transport on you tube. He runs a fleet of gliders. He is very concerned about fuel mileage and other operations cost.

I like all the peterbilts and I really like the 2024 peterbitts but I really like the older peterbilts
Love ur show, everything you do,rocky...from fl...
I like it. Looks like the cab may be a little taller than the 389, but we shall see. I like the single piece windshield too.
I like the bigger cab and it still looks old school
That new Pete actually looks really good.
I always thought the 379 extended hood was their best looking truck
You have never seen a Kenworth Dub9L yah? Best looking best built interior 👌
Truthfully old split window cab is so much better and makes it look like a traditional truck.
It is true, very brave to keep the square hood....
I love the Pete’s but I also really like the Western Star 4900 series.
I love how diverse your fleet is, I wish I could move from Alabama and drive for you
If your a Peterbilt lover your gonna like just because of the name and it makes you guys feel like your someone. W 9 all I'm saying
can’t beat older pets merry Christmas sir
A 389 with a 60 series in it that's the bomb.
I like the looks of this supposed new peterbilt. Driving a brick down the road doesn't put money in the bank.
It’s the closest to the classic
Thanks for the report
One thing for sure, you can't beat the jake brake horsepower that a x15 puts down.
Thanks
A lot of the w990 Characteristics. I like it.
Tim that Truck is sweet it looks good to me I don't particularly like the Burgendy or Maroon but that PETEBILT is sweet it reminds me of your 389 PETE
Bill Rethwitch just bought one this week. #2 truck
Reminds me of the 359. Definitely gorgeous.

It still looks great Tim! If you cut off the hood from in-front of the breather it kinda looks like a Western Star which is Also a great truck ! Great Video 👍
I think the red one has a wider cab and probably the new interior.nice
The 389 shouldn't be complaining too much, the truck looks really good and I drive a W990 and I've loved it since it was announced back in 2018. My boss has a 389 and I was waiting to see what this 589 was going to look like. Peterbilt didn't do a dramatic change unlike what Kenworth had. I had to really look at the picture to really see the difference. The 389 guys should really like the wider cab and more space.
There is one place in Nebraska that still does "gliders", they come with an assembled title. They basically pull the X15 and repower it with a 3406. They can do it because of Nebraska state law allowing it
I'm a retired bull hauler a I would be very proud to drive it
Tommy has plain White 280 wb.and a 13 speed automatic . It is a565 cum . 2950 tork . IT has a light package a drop visor ,dis k brakes on steer and drum on the rear . it might fit into what you are looking for it is 2022 model year .They put enough [ights and chrome on it to make it look good .
Awesome looking truck
Ok cab is 579 with big hood. Cab for 389, 379 had been around since 1987. Door frame from 359 you can bolt 379 or 389 door to 359
Bring back the 359!!!!!
You need to check out flint creek transport on you tube. He runs a fleet of gliders. He is very concerned about fuel mileage and other operations cost.
It stirkes me that it looks like an 80"s GMC Gerneral....not eactly but like it. The Jimmy had split front window but if it did'nt then it really looks like the 589. Tim Merry Christmas to you the family and your guys and family! Go get'm Big Guy....LOve the vds....Peace..God Bless.
