Great seeing regular videos! I constantly think about writing but I never do it. Using a device like this would remind me of the old days and I like that idea. I just can't justify the cash for this when I can't convince myself to write at all. I have lots of ideas but they eternally float around in my head. Maybe someday...
Waiting for the new viwoods aipaper. Looks like a replica of rhe remarkable
Yes, man, I've been burned on Kickstarter a lot, so I am totally open, I have to do some more research, though...
@@morningcoach yeah quite common...received a number of faulty products before
Can you elaborate on the advantages of the iPad? Said this way, is there any reason to not use the iPad? I just don’t see the advantage of the freewrite.
I just use the program Ulysses to organize my writing and it just works really well on the computer and the iPad actually like writing on the iPad I think the only advantage of the free right for me would be just a distraction free device that you could take to the library or out to the park and get some writing done, but obviously you could do the same thing with the iPad. That’s just me though. The other thing would be the keyboard, but you can actually hook a Bluetooth keyboard up to the iPad too, and I guess the last thing would be the ink screen maybe but for me, I use my iPad 90% of the time computer probably 8% of the time and maybe this freewrite 2% - sorry I was using my voice comment here at the grammar off a little bit
Yeah, you gotta wonder if the free write totally went away would anyone notice, or care. Thanks for all your commentary, I always find your perspective valuable.
@@TNValleyVideos A few people would notice if it went away; while I'm sure some would care, they'd get over it.
Here is what I would list as a short summary of the advantages of one device over the other:
iPad:
- The options for writing software you take with you (e.g. Ulysses) are much, much more powerful.
- An iPad + keyboard cover is more slim, compact, and portable (at least when compared to this particular Freewrite-note that FW has other models).
- the iPad does other things too.
Freewrite:
- It has a nice, mechanical keyboard. If you are familiar with Cherry keyswitches, then you know what a pleasant typing experience they can convey.
- It has an eInk screen. For persons who stare at glowing, backlit monitors all day (that's most of us now) eInk can be quite restful for the eyes.
- The Freewrite does nothing else. Yes, I am aware of the irony that the opposite was a pro of the iPad, but some people perceive a 'distraction-free', dedicated tool for writing as a boon.
My overall take: The Freewrite Hemingway Edition is a quirky toy for hipsters with money to burn.
The "delay" is equal to the delay of a typewriter.
Been years since I used one - but my rM and other e-ink don't have that delay - but get you, just annoys me - just me though I am sure others don't have that issue, and they have improved it :) Thanks for the comment
Do you need to have the device connected to the cloud or can you connect it to your computer to off load you work?
Yes you have to be connected to the cloud.
That is so neat 👏🏼. Thank you for sharing 👍🏼👍🏼. Stay safe healthy and happy ✝️🇺🇸
