Although there will never be music like the 80's and it can never be replicated, we love all of you for making our youth what it was. We are still young and living. We see and hear you in our hearts! We are the everlasting generation!❤👍🤟
@@elmosexwhistle I would say the original is more in B flat major with most pitches in F 👍. Still you are correct....they have definitely changed the chording a bit downward to accommodate the singer most likely towards D pitching.
@@chrisnauta2467 There's some modulation going on between the verse and the chorus, but what ever key you want to say they're playing it in, this performance is a minor 3rd below the original recording.
Oh mate.... Summer 87/88 ...this one brings back the fondest of memories !!! I still picture myself riding my BMX, late summer breeze gently ruffling my hair, not my mullet I'm now shameful to say... free as a bird, not a care in the world, music in my head phones and just gazing that endless sky glowing with the most beautiful shades of blue and pink. I loved that moment and this song just makes it all happen again everytime. Priceless, like many of your songs. Thanks guys, Top, song! And I love sharing your songs with my daughter when we hit the road, south of France.
I've loved Icehouse since I first heard Hey Little Girl, I was a lot younger but they still give me chills, one of the best, and most underrated bands of the 80's...check out their back catalogue
Amazing song and amazing band ... I grew up in Cuba listening this great band .. i built a huge antenna to get radio stations from Miami .. Ice House is in my favorite bands forever ..
I saw this band live in the eighties when they toured with journey. Electric blue was my favorite song and I could not wait to hear it. But much to my dismay I had to use the restroom and after waiting in the long line as soon as I got my chance go to the bathroom this song started playing!!😭 I think that was the quickest trip to a bathroom I ever made!
This song is evergreen - loved it from the moment i heard it in the 80's - the man of colours album was a masterpiece. Rock on Icehouse. You have fans in places you will never comprehend - best wishes from distant India.
I'm 49. I think I can honestly say this is the greatest song I've ever heard in my life. It destroyed me when I was an adolescent kid and it still resonates all these years later.
"Man Of Colours" was an absolutely outstanding album. I still have it on cassette tape from when it was first released. I played it over and over in 1987 and to this day, and the tape still plays! Icehouse is just as good now as they were in the 80s, and Iva's voice here is as great as on the tape - an amazing band.
@@annechoyrocks Thanks for replying and it's nice to know I'm not alone in having Icehouse on audio cassette! These days I have a lot of music on my Spotify playlists so I can enjoy it on my mobile, typically with headphones on because my fellow INTJ family member prefers not to hear any music playing at all loudly! However, I have all my old audio cassettes of music by bands like Icehouse and they still work whether it's Icehouse or the Top Gun soundtrack, for example! I was a teenager during the 80s so enjoy a lot of music from that time period as well as more modern singers and bands. I wish I had been able to see them perform live back in the 80s, in particular! I used to ice skate back then, and would often work out routines to music from bands like Icehouse. I never actually was able to competed with music from current bands at the time because my coach felt it wouldn't suit the figure skating routines that tended to be scored more highly. It didn't stop me going out on the rink and skating to music like Icehouse or songs like "Footloose" in my 'free time' on the ice, though! 😊
I remember having the classic audio cassettes. I had one of Michael Jackson and Kenny Rogers, Queen on record, listening to records at age 7, now 47. What fond memories. This band still sounds awesome, even though they're playing in different chord, lower key
Happens the same to me, reminds me of my times in the 80s in Argentina when the aussie rock wave arrived form the other end of the Southern Hemisphere, same happened with Crowded House
A Brilliant Song!!!,! ManyThanx From Costa Mesa CA!!!! My fav from this band. I wish he would sing louder like the original. Perfect voice for this song.
Song was the brain child of John Oates (Hall and Oates) is my understanding. He was down in Australia working with Iva when they created the song. It’s a truly awesome tune.
WOW! Great Performance and Fantastically PSYCHADELIC, out of "Electric Blue Filaments:" intertwining Current WIRES of Electricity's Background! So commendable! I'm from 625 Probasco Street, Cincinnati, Ohio.

My favorite Icehouse song. Didn't get as much air time as the others on the radio, but it's amazing. Great rocking tune, fun lyrics and a killer sax solo, not to mention the sweet drum fills at the end of the song. Sounding great for 30 years later.
The incredible thing Icehouse and those of you at the second Hobart concert (the Sat one) did for us will be under Hey Little Girl. I saw this from directly in front of Iva along the railing with my tiny 10 yr old daughter due the crowd putting us there....and said crowd never knew that Keith (their manager) had given us tickets as one of the kindest gestures ever. I knew it may be my first chance to see them. It could likely be my last as well. I'm only 41, I was 40 when I saw this so fitting really. I also have a genetic condition that put me in the palliative category back in 2013. It was last minute so the band wouldn't have known who I was at all, they'll likely get a shock when I send through photos to Keith of how I always looked before this sick. I'd say they'll realise why that was a rare time I was in public, my daughter meant we were very visible though....and thanks for winking at her Steve, I saw you do a few double takes there as she was the youngest there by a decade! So cheers Paul, we were indeed right in front for this and I'll never forget it Xxx

Wtf how does this still sounds so spot on and the lead singer look so healthy for his age?
They’re playing in D instead of F, so it’s a bit easier to sing. Still sounds good though! He still has to hit a G.

I'm sad that the iconic mullet is gone, but I'm glad these guys are still around
Brilliant! I turned 60 recently and I am so glad I lived through the late 70s and 80s, when the music was so damn good. Never to be repeated!
That sax is killer!

Nothing to do with the volume, they have to drop the tuning for this song, he doesn't have the pitch in his voice anymore.
True Artists! .. Icehouse.. Sounds amazing over 30 years of excellence.
He still sounds really good. He retained most of his voice. Just those higher notes become difficult as the vocal cords age.
