perfect, but works only for hikvision cameras?
Is there a mobile app so we can view the cameras while we are out?
I did this with an oldder unused laptop back when Windows 7 was just ending. At first it worked well, but then began to show skipping in the video playback, as well as pixelation blur.
I found the laptop needed a minimum of 4gb ram MINIMUM , a cpu over 1.5ghz, absolutely NO other programs running in the back ground stealing memory and cpu resources.
Uninstall everything but the camera software/app.
An NVR is one program for one thing, recording video.
Once more programs run, there may be problems.
The app for the cameras should be the only thing that runs.
Using a browser may cause the browser itself to run 5, 8, sometimes 12 separate individual programs, which causes more services in the operating system to run.
You gotta make sure the unit is kept cool. Laptops heat up easy depending on where you have them and its fan input / output and clean vents
If you use wifi, make sure you're using N band,( G is obsolete)
To use wifi, make sure you have your ip camers plugged into a router that is fast. Cat 6 cable minimum.
Direct line is better, so place ethernet cables from the laptop and the camera into each of the LAN ports or the router.
It can work no doubt.

Does remote viewing and playback work? Does the system have to be running windows? I was more interested in a stand alone system that runs it's own os as an NVR.

hello friend. did you find autonomous system ?
i am looking at linux options, did you find any other OS that runs standalone as video recorder?
you can remote your PC using chrome remote desktop, anydesk, etc.
IVMS seems to be for only Hikvision.
I use d-link cameras and my NVR is bad but I need to be able to record camera footage.
What tools can I use?

QUICK QUESTION... I have done this on a PC and all works well.. My question is how to I share this storage so that another IVMS client on the network for example in other office to view the recorded footage ? Many thanks

I try to do the same, but i have an error when i save the storage schedule:
Saving parameters failed on item: Camera 01_camera test: Saving DVR record parameter failed. Recording schedule: It is not supported by the device.(Error code: HCKNetSDK.dll[23])
My camera model is: DS-2CD1023G0E-I
Would this work with a Reolink 810a using their client?

thank you!!!! i just go sick and tired of the lack of options with netvue and their horrible app. i have 5 hard drives and about 5 TB of storage and 3 laptops. but i cant use any of the cool crap ive got with netvue lol so i bought foscam oblivion drone looking style! and want to set up this nvr on on of my lap tops. using camlytics. im decent with tech but this camera shit is mind boggling!!! no such thing as plug and play with good gear lol shitty gear like netvue and ring oh yea thats plug and play but good luck getting great imaging.
