Hobby Boss kit #84530 1/35 scale German WWII King Tiger with the pre-production Porsche turret. The kit was built from the box with the exception of a set of Karaya cables.
Thanks for posting this video. Great work on the kit! I've been trying to see how well the kit-supplied zimmerit looks. It ain't perfect, but I'm glad you can build it out of the box to an acceptable standard.
Thanks for your detailed assembly video! This was the only piece on the net, that helped me undestand how those track links have to be glued together correctly. From the factory guide i could not get it how it works. Thanks again ;)
Nice build Steve! I've got this kit and I'm just about to start it for a group build, so been checking out a few builds on the internet, yours turned out great!
Great build, how did you get the tracks "workable"? I see you painted them laid out straight and then wrapped them on afterwards? I glued mine together, wrapped them on, then when dry and took them off to paint.
Hi Steve , very much enjoyed your video of the Hobby Boss King Tiger build , I have just built the 84532 version without Zimmeritt , in my kit the tracks come in just two separate pieces a track and a guide horn yours has a bit for the middle ??? Why the difference ? Also there are no slots for the turret to slot into the hull- what to do ? Best wishes Edward.
Edward, thanks for watching the video, I invite you to take a look at my other modeling videos. My kit had the zimmerit separate so it could be built either way. It's been a while but yes I think my tracks were four pieces with the inner and outer guide horns separate? Perhaps your tracks are simplified with the guide horns molded in? The turret just presses into place, no tabs.
Much appreciated Steve , gt job with the Zimmerit , yes my tracks were obviously a simpler version , a track and a separate guide horn , when you say the turret just sits into the hull isn't it in danger of constantly falling off when model is lifted , seems to be a feature of newer kits ! Edward
@@edwardkennedy5680 I haven't touched my model in several years, it just sits in my display case. But, I've had no trouble with the turret falling off.
Great job! 👍 A tip: the zimmerit looks too perfect and I think you could have put putty over the zimmerit just to have the texture. Other than that, I really enjoyed the build! Keep it up!
Re the Zimmerit. Can't please everybody. If it wasn't there'd others who complain it was too damaged or damaged in spots they preferred weren't or was the wrong Zimmerit pattern for the subject to the one they preferred. Me, I'd just be happy stick on Zimmerit was included in the kit for the price. In my country all those aftermarket valued adding (for the retailer) accessory Zimmerit packs e.g. Tamiya, Das Werk, and aftermarket e.g. ATAK, sold separately are absurdly EXPENSIVE as everyone has a drink along the way. Manufacturer, distributor, retailer. Ugh. Just NO. The stick on stuff is pretty ordinary in any case when compared with slide moulded. Perhaps I'm different from most, but it influences my kit purchase selection. For instance, if I want a Panther Ausf that must have Zimmerit for plausible suspension of disbelief I'll either pay for the excellence of the kit with slide moulded Zimmerit e.g. Dragon 6384, or I'll buy a very late Ausf G not requiring Zimmerit. e.g. Tamiya 35176. Same with the Ferdinand/Elefant. I bought Zvezda's 3653 Ferdinand instead of 3659. No Zimmerit required. I made the mistake back in 2014ish (?) of buying Dragon's 6460 mid-Brummbär 6460 prior to them releasing their pre-moulded Zimmerit version 6892. Fortunately I paid less than half price for it and was soon pretty glad that was the case. ATAK's 35044 stick on Zimmerit specific to this kit was an ABSURD AUD$60! whether ordering direct or through my etailer (inc p&p). Er...no. The chances of me treading the laborious putty Zimmerit route with it has even less probability than me winning Lotto, so it's likely I'll die with that kit still in my stash. = ]
Thinking about getting HobbyBoss' 84531 Henshel turreted version. How did the build rate for fit and pleasurable vs say a contemporary (this decade) Tamiya or Dragon Smartkit?
I built the model quite a while ago, so I don't remember much about it. What I do remember is I was happy with the kit for its price point. Personally, of the kits you mention I would say the Dragon would be the best then the Tamiya and lastly the Hobby Boss. Depending on what Dragon or Tamiya kit you buy you may need to buy aftermarket tracks unless you like rubber band tracks. The Hobby Boss kits has individual link tracks included.
@@SPSteve Thanks. Getting old, I don't mind the simplicity or presentation of Dragon's DS tracks, especially on subjects with large road wheels like the Tiger, Panther & King Tiger. The minor leading sag required can be glued in situ to present realistically if not hidden by Schürzen e.g. King & Panther D & A. Link and length are OK too.
I’ve got a vickers Armstrong 6 ton my F/B Czotg lekki I need to send you. It’s a mirage kit number 35310 MR216 if you want it. And yes, much assembly required.
My wife went to an estate sale with her mom the other day and cam home and tells me she found something for me, it’s a motorized 1944 panther that is probably from the 60s or 70s needed cleaning up and a little glue work a and it still had the original rayovac batteries in it
I bought this kit to build an upscaled scratch version in 1/6th!! Great reference!
Сегодня купил такую же модель. Очень красивый танк. Да набор шикарный... С удовольствием сделаю...
It's a good model for the price
Awesome build! I was feeling your pain watching you put those tracks together... really nice result.
Hi, it's nice work and beautiful finish. I'm going to watch your another video.
I'm happy that I could watch such as video. Thank you !!

Awesome work. Pleasure to watch. Thanks for doing this!!
Nice job, looks like it has a ton of fine details to it.
Awesome job 👏
Very nice! Especially on the base.
SP Steve taking up more space is just an excuse to add another cabinet! Haha
Великолепно! Чудесная работа, очень понравилось.
Just bought this kit at the Bovington Tank Museum model show for £20. Looks like it was money well spent!
Parfait superbe excellent travail continue comme ça 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Симпотичная модель вышла. Смущает только грунт на циммерите и ржавчина...

great work ! nicely done tiger II ! awesome mate ! j-yves
Awesome job on it mate👍
looking so great!
i have question, track is workable?
Great build, how did you make the rust effect on the side skirt?

Do you use glue on the suspension or not? It keeps falling apart. Can’t lock them in the hull.

Dragon's DS tracks are some of the better rubber band tracks@@theblytonian3906
How did you do the suspension arms?? I’ve bought one of these kits and am really struggling with them been uneven
