Very interesting. Considering the test car is very old tech and limited in terms of on the fly fuel trim adjustments. It paints a different picture and also shows how fuel affects old vehicles aswell.
Really interesting tbh. I've been using Shell mostly for a couple of years now, and I have noticed that I am getting worse fuel consumption than before, so maybe I should try some different place. Great video btw👌🏻
@@jacquescolinsmith7751 was also someone that only used shell until I noticed the difference not too long ago. Figured let’s make some content. Thanks man
This is a crazy thing that I have realised too... I get the best millage on Caltex/Astron worst on shell and that day my valve dropped I put in BP so do with that information as you wish. Conclusion I only put in Astron and if I can't get to an Astron its ENGEN very reluctantly.

I was one of the first guys in cpt to lower my pop ups about 21 years ago. The stock turn down bolts at the back of the torsion bars can only go so low. If you get longer tungsten bolts you can really go nice and low. I also got shortned front shocks from Ian Glass many years ago.
@@mrjklee I appreciate the feedback. I can go quite a bit lower in front still with these but I’m happy with the front height at the moment. Like the oem feel. Do want to shorten the shocks soon though to avoid the bottoming out.
Welldone my bro. I think you should have at least done two fills at each garage to eliminate any errors in driving conditions. Also not sure if you visually fill at the same point each time from your visual gauge as compared to filling when the empty light goes on. I must say good video and very interesting set of results. Keep up the good work👌🏻
@@moffatk7948 only reason I didn’t want to wait for the empty light is because the car is new to me so I don’t know if it works and I’m not super sure what dirt is that low at the bottom of the tank but thank you for the feedback. Would definitely have been more accurate if I done it twice
I've always used Engen fuel in all my cars, and I get the best mileage from them. This is a great video 💯 I know that South Africas fuel is pretty shitty 😅 as we dont have a true 95 fuel 🙃
Important to note, having 3500 as a limit is a good idea, but most fuel gets consumed with pullaways and throttle input to get to that 3500. Still surprsing to see Astron so low down, I usually get what the Cars Manual says with Astron

I filled my audi in jhb and drove to dbn. Filled in dbn and the car could not get into boost at all with all the detonation. Had to add 20 liters 109 race fuel to get the car to just drive properly
1. did you notice the time of day you put petrol in? example in the morning or during the day...this can impact petrol. 2. do you not have SASOL in you area?
WHAT? What are you talking about? The time of day you fill up your car has no influence on the volume of fuel you add into the tank or the car's performance. That's an old wife's tale. Please educate yourself.
In my opinion Shell and Astron test was slightly compromised because you added another person in the car 😂 which makes the car heavier to pull. The test does seem abit accurate though. Shell makes my car perform better and Engens fuel last longer
This is NOT how you measure and calculate average fuel consumption. You will at least need to fill up and run to close to empty a few times to start getting average consumption from a certain station.
Interesting, i have a 3.5 v6 pajero i drive once a while and the phrase fuel consumption doesnt exist. 450km open road on 72 l tank at 100/110kmh, anything above that around 380km per tank 😢
Great video bud, but unfortunately unless u drove exactly the same way , on the exact same roads, with the exact atmosphere temperature then this test would be excellent. All these factor into fuel economy. However great Video!
