    Hello, I am planning on building something similar and I wanted to as if you ever clean the inside of the pipes? I know you change the water every now and then but you have yet mentioned cleaning the inside of the pipes.

      Go to your local hardware store and look for T2 bar lights

    I was wondering if you've tried a similar system with clones from a heavy plant like Cayenne peppers that don't usually work in your two rail setup, but would still fruit bushier, shorter yields like you did with the strawberries. I'm going to try it out.

    I’m reading diy hydroponic gardens by Tyler Baras, do you know if your system is considered to be a “flood and drain” system?

    What sort of nutrients are you using for this system?

      And how often does the water need to be replaced?

      But the problem I’ve had with two attempts at Strawberries is horrible aphid infestations. Mine came from Amazon, he must have a better source. If he can share the source, I’ll try again because the harvest is awesome like he suggests.

      I use mix-in nutrients. I've used several different brands with good success.
      Agreed on aphids, I like to spray with organic pesticide as soon as I receive plants. I have links to plants and nutrients on my site: www.simplegreenshydroponics.com/materials

    So this is a dft system not nft, that you have plans for? I was very confused when I read the build guide and saw how the two posts were connected and there was no slope. Just got a 10x44ft greenhouse setup so plan to do some hydroponics as a test run

    Great video, thanks. Just this past few months I have been exploring the Kratky method of Hydroponics. I have grown lettuce, celery, kale. So far the only harvesting I have done is the lettuce, The kale and celery take a little longer it seems. I have enjoyed the experience and was wondering about fruits. Strawberries look great, but have you tried any other berries or grapes? I do believe that some produce will struggle under the Kratky method but I am not yet prepared to set up a system as elaborate as you have, mostly because I am currently using my spare Bedroom.

      I haven't tried other berries yet.. I think grapes would be challenging indoors since they spread so much.

      @@SimpleGreensHydroponics HA HA this is so new for me I find all of it a little challenging and very rewarding, but is is taking up some space in the house for sure. Thank you for your video's.

    How did you get your roots prepared? See that they were black and once into the net pot, they are whiter. Is there a cleaning process? etc

      Once the root stock wake up, they grow nice white roots out of the darker ones.

    Very cool! Does the room temp matter much? I'm doing a similar system but struggle with my place being over 75 usually. Thanks for the share.

    Did you cut off the first flowers so the plant can focus on growing to a fuller size before it focuses fruiting? I just started my strawberry garden and it’s only been two weeks and they’re already starting to flower so I’m not sure if I should cut them off or just leave it because I keep reading I need to cut off initial flowers and runners until the plant reaches full-size

      With everbearing plants I don't think it's necessary to pluck flowers unless the plants are still very small (3 leaves or less)

      @@SimpleGreensHydroponicsso you don't ever need to replace the plants(theoretically). They just keep producing fruit?

    Can you grow them year round?

    • @ImJordanPatrick
      @ImJordanPatrick Місяць тому

      Yes. Under the right temperature, these will fruit year round. After a while, though, the plant will stop fruiting as efficiently. Youll either need to replace the plant or rest it by reducing nutrient supply and temperature to similate winter dormancy conditions

    why the 2 separate reservoirs / pumps, instead of just one feeding both racks?

    • @Hadmin
      @Hadmin 4 місяці тому

      If one reservoir get's infected, only one of the racks has to be restarted. The system is very small for this kind of a failsafe, yes, but that's usually the go to "why" people have separate tanks.

      Yes, it also lets me experiment with different nutrients for the two systems.
