Lisciki is always good on grass .... And she played with consistency throughout every point of the match
Lisicki was just one short of nine lives in this match lol. It amazes me how Kerber consistently has second serves in the 70s and she still manages to win the point. Unbelievable defense and what a great match
Angie is truly incredible. She has one of the greatest defence of all time. My favourite player! Go Angie go❤
Exactly a decade on and it's an all-German Wimbledon Ladies' Singles Quarter-Final re-visited, with Tatjana Maria up against Jule Niemeier! I remember this match for the weather, which was so typical of that memorably shocking summer of 2012, although the bit where there was 'Donner und Blitzen' outside was missing from these highlights, sadly. It was so fitting for a battle of two tennis 'Valkyries', I thought. It may not be quite so stormy on Tuesday, however, which is sort of disappointing!
Would have loved to have seen Sabine win Wimbledon. Her game so suited the grass.
Where do we have such matches these days? Such power, such defence, such wits? Even in Wimbledon, the quality of play has plummeted.

iwantahat Really? According to her Wikipedia both her parents are said to be polish so I thought she was blood polish but was born and grew up in Germany. My grandmother was German-Swedish but grew up in the UK so was regarded as British. I'm confused as Kerber does look German.

Hard to follow this match because i couldn't tell them apart until i realized Kerber is a lefty. Well, that and the boom-boom serve of Lisicki. But they look like bookends out there.

Lisicki isn't well liked by the other German players. Part of that reason is her living and training in Florida as opposed to the other German players training together.
Alex K. That's a shame as where you train shouldn't determine your likeability as a person. But as a spectator I personally really like Lisicki and Kerber. I've been told by those who have met her that Lisicki is a really nice person and very sweet and polite!
