I'm revving up to start submitting to libraries, and this is some of the most clear and practical information I've seen about how to approach this process - thanks so much for sharing your experience and advice!
Thanks for the video! Do think it would be proper to send the Publishers a link of unreleased cues, directly from my website, rather than Disco, etc? On my website, I have a standard "Playlist" or demo of my work but I also have a link for a "Coming soon" or "Available" music.
Hi Steve, very interesting video, thank you for your precious advices! I’ve just subscribed your channel after I “met” you on Cubase one. I have a question for you, if possible: how do you choose which tracks to save for your Spotify profile and which ones to deliver for libraries? Best, Art, from Italy
Hey Art! Usually these days it’s one and the same, all the tracks I send to Artlist are uploaded to Spotify too, and other libraries publish to Spotify under different names as well
@@Steven_BeddallHi again! Thank you for super fast answering! 🙏🏻 I was asking myself if it could be counterproductive, some way, so nice to know it’s not! 👍🏻
Hi Steve, should I register my tracks with ASCAP before I apply to Artlist or should I go exclusive with them? These are new tracks that are not used anywhere. Which is a better case scenario in your experience? Thanks for your videos they are great and helpful!!
If you plan to sell your tracks to Artlist, then don't register with ASCAP, they will act as your publisher. The only case where I register my own music with my PRO is when I intend the music to be completely non exclusive.
Hi Steve, thanks for your help! Most of the production music libraries that I see require exclusive deals. Do they pay me upfront for the tracks? And once they accept them, what should I do? I just have to wait and hope they will use them in some production so I can get my royalties?
Most exclusive libraries don't pay upfront consideration fees. Hopefully they will place your music and in time, you can collect royalties. It takes time and persistence.
The hardest thing about these submissions is having 5 unpublished tracks. That's a lot of time to make tracks that could be posted on Pond5 making money and are sitting around waiting to be accepted by a fussy library instead.
Yeah it's always tough to know whether or not a library will best serve your music in the long run. While you may earn some sales on Pond 5, you can also earn consistent royalties from a great sync placement. That's why it's important to consistently be writing new material and always look for new opportunities and connections.

In the email, is it necessary to add where you graduated from, previous experience, or should you leave that out?
Thanks for this!
Applying to libraries is an art in itself. This is really helpful information, Steve. Keep it up man!

Are your playlist containing instrumentals and or songs w/ vocals?
Super helpful, thanks Steve! I just signed up to Disco this week for my next submission.

@@Steven_Beddall Ok, I guess next question would be which one generates more income?
Really depends who you ask@@the-architect7789
@@Steven_Beddall Great, thanks a lot!

Hey Steve! How much does it cost you to host a website like yours? which platform did you use? Did you build it yourself?
About $30 a month (squarespace) but there’s definitely cheaper options!

you can upload them, but once accepted to an exclusive library just delete them
